Chapter 9 Complaint

When Lu Feng heard her casually mention the word "suicide," he tightened his grip on the steering wheel and said in a calm voice, "If you encounter something like this in the future, remember to tell me. Don't be afraid. I will always be there to protect you."

Lin Wanwan turned her head to look at him, "I didn't dare to tell you back then. You didn't like me, and you might even think I was stirring up trouble. Besides, your mother didn't like me either, so how could I dare to complain?"

"How dare you now?" Lu Feng asked her.

"Now at least I can be sure that you will help me to some extent. As for your mother, I'm not marrying her or living with her. As long as you approve of me, that's enough," Lin Wanwan said, pretending to be relaxed.

Lu Feng seemed to see through her worries and comforted her, saying, "You don't need to worry. My mother loves me, so no matter who I marry, as long as we're happy, she will love my partner."

Lin Wanwan looked at him and said, "Then how can you be sure that you'll be happy with me?"

"I'm not sure, but judging from the way you were arguing just now, life with you must be very interesting and never boring," you say, then laugh out loud.

"Then I'll take good care of you from now on, my husband~" Lin Wanwan called him husband in a soft and gentle tone, making Lu Feng's heart flutter.

When Lin's mother saw that the two of them had brought back so many books, she quickly asked Lin Xiaohai to help.

In fact, Lin Wanwan didn't take much; it was all in Lu Feng's hands.

"Xiao Hai, don't go to my room. All those things in your hands are yours," Lin Wanwan said, watching his retreating figure.

Lin Xiaohai froze, his eyes wide as he turned to confirm with her, "These are all mine? Are you sure? So many?"

Lin Wanwan nodded, "Is that too little? I didn't have enough time today, so I only bought this much. I'll go again tomorrow and buy more."

Lin Xiaohai was so frightened that he quickly shouted, "No, that's enough, that's enough. I think that's enough for me to watch. I'll watch it carefully."

Lin Wanwan looked at him with disbelief and asked, "Are you sure?"

Lin Xiaohai nodded hurriedly, "Yes, yes, I've got enough. There aren't any of my things left in your room, right?"

“Those are all mine. You don’t need them yet. I’ll buy them for you when you’re in your senior year of high school. By the way, I’m going to join Lu Feng in the military. You know that, right?” Lin Wanwan asked, looking at him.

Lin Xiaohai nodded. He had just been relieved that his sister was going to join the army and wouldn't have time to deal with him.

“Those materials are for you to work on over the next few months. School starts in September, so there are still two months left. I took a look at those tutoring materials, and you can definitely finish them in two months,” Lin Wanwan said. As soon as she finished speaking, she saw Lin Xiaohai looking utterly hopeless, his eyes darting around very fast.

“Do five hours a day, two hours in the morning, two hours in the afternoon, and only one hour in the evening. I’ll plan out what you need to do each day in a bit. Then, pack all these books and supplementary materials for the next two months and send them to me. I will check them one by one,” Lin Wanwan said to him expressionlessly.

“If you dare to ask someone to do it for you, I’ll have your brother-in-law transfer you to a high school in Gansu Province, right under my nose. Also, if you misbehave at home, as long as Mom and Dad call me to complain, you have no choice but to pack your things and come over here. I’ll have Dad expel you from school. If you don’t want to come, that’s fine too. After you’re expelled, we won’t cook for you or give you any pocket money. As long as you can survive, you don’t have to come to Gansu Province,” Lin Wanwan said, then looked at her parents. “Mom and Dad, if he causes trouble at home, we’ll expel him immediately and send him to Gansu Province.”

Mr. and Mrs. Lin both nodded, showing no sign of wanting to plead on their behalf.

"Brother-in-law, aren't you going to do anything about my sister? Isn't my going to Gansu just causing you trouble?" Lin Xiaohai wanted Lu Feng to intercede for him.

Lu Feng stood directly next to Lin Wanwan, his meaning clear: "It's no trouble at all. It's just helping you with your school enrollment. It's not really troublesome, it's just that conditions there are harsh, unlike the prosperous Beijing area."

Lin Xiaohai cried out in despair, "Sister, you're trying to drive me to my death!!"

Seeing that nothing was wrong, Lin's mother pulled Song Lanzhi into the house. "Let's go in and sit down. Don't worry about it. Xiaohai is a child who needs discipline. His sister said that the college entrance examination might be reinstated in the future. She wants to take the exam herself, and Xiaohai can't fall behind. She has already transferred him to the High School Affiliated to Peking University."

Song Lanzhi nodded knowingly. Wasn't Lin Wanwan supposed to be a good-for-nothing? Why is she taking the college entrance exam? She also seems different from before.

“My daughter was a late bloomer, but at least she’s sensible now, which is a relief,” He Yumei sighed.

Outside, Lin Xiaohai was still protesting, "Sister, how am I supposed to finish all this data? You're killing me!"

“I’ve checked everything. If you study and do exercises according to the schedule I’ve given you, it won’t take two months at all. You can finish in a month and a half,” Lin Wanwan glanced at him and said in an unfriendly tone. “You’d better not try anything funny with me. Your brother-in-law and I will go and look for a school for you. If it doesn’t work out, you don’t need to go to Peking University High School. You can come with me directly to Gansu Province.”

Lu Feng chimed in, "The wife of our Third Regiment Commander teaches at one of the best high schools over there. I'll call and ask her when I get back."

Lin Xiaohai immediately stood up and said, "No need, I'm staying at Peking University High School. I'm not going anywhere else, don't even think about it!!!"

Lin Wanwan ignored him and looked up at Lu Feng, saying, "Ask him if it's troublesome to turn around. If it's not troublesome, we'll take him away."

Lin Xiaohai immediately stood up, "I'm going back to my room to study and do my homework!!"

Lin's father stood to the side and gave him a thumbs up. Lin Wanwan walked over and took his arm. "Dad, I wasn't joking just now. You and Mom are not allowed to spoil him. Even after I leave, you must still be strict with him as I said. If I find out you're soft-hearted, you'll see if I don't make a fuss with you and Mom. You two know my temper."

Lin's father tapped her on the head, "You dare threaten your parents?"

Lin Wanwan covered her head and glared at him, "I haven't even left yet, and you're already showing favoritism."

Lin's father was amused by her words. "What favoritism? Do you think your mother and I are the kind of soft-hearted, ungrateful people? Don't worry, if he dares to cause trouble, I'll expel him from school and send him to Gansu Province. I just don't know if that will cause trouble for Lu Feng."

Hearing this from behind, Lu Feng immediately shook his head, "It's alright, Uncle Lin, no trouble at all. Wanwan and I are married, so we're family. What trouble is there?"

Mr. Lin nodded in satisfaction. Seeing that his daughter got along well with him, he felt much more at ease.

“Uncle Lin, I’ve booked a table at a restaurant for lunch. Our family will have a meal together,” Lu Feng said solemnly, standing next to Lin Wanwan.

Lin Jianbang nodded, "We should have a meal together."

Lin's mother and Song Lanzhi came out hand in hand. Song Lanzhi looked at her watch and said, "It's about time, shall we go now?" She looked at Lin's parents questioningly.

Mr. Lin nodded, "Okay, let's go now."
