Chapter 15 On the Train

The area around Song Jin was soon filled with people. The tickets were bought together, and they should have sat together based on the destination in the countryside.

People of this generation are mostly simple and enthusiastic, and most of them are in good spirits. For example, the person sitting across from Song Jin has been chattering non-stop since she sat down. Even if Song Jin just casually agrees with a few words, she doesn't feel embarrassed at all.

After the train started moving, the girl across from me suddenly stood up and said loudly, "We're all comrades who went to the countryside together. We may end up in the same place in the future. Living in a foreign land together, we need to support and help each other. Let's introduce ourselves. I'll go first. My name is Wei Hong. I'm 18 years old and I just graduated from high school. I'm going to the Maolin Commune in Dashi Town, Qi County, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province."

After hearing the address, Song Jin looked up at her. She was from the same place as him. She was a nice person with a carefree personality and was a good match for him.

The person next to Wei Hong immediately spoke up: "My name is Shen Jun, I'm 18 years old, and I just graduated from high school. I went to the same place in the countryside as Wei Hong."

The people around them began to speak one after another. There were three men and two women. Besides Shen Jun and Wei Hong, there was a man named Lin Fenggu, a man named Liu Haitao, and a female educated youth named Xu Keke. Except for Lin Fenggu, who was in a different commune, everyone else was from the same commune.

Finally, it was Song Jin's turn to introduce herself. Everyone's eyes were focused on her. Song Jin spoke slowly and calmly: "My name is Song Jin, I'm 17 years old, and I work in Maolin Commune."

Wei Hong enthusiastically led the applause: "That's great, everyone is almost together. We, the educated youth from Beijing, must help each other in the future."

After that, everyone started suggesting singing together, one song after another. As long as someone took the lead, everyone in the car would follow.

Song Jin didn't have any, she didn't know how to do it. Some of them she had never even heard of.

But she was good at pretending. New-age students sleep in class with their eyes open, pretend to understand when they don't, and know what the teacher is going to say next by looking at their mouths. This is all standard practice, so no one noticed she was taking advantage of the situation.

Soon it was dinner time, and everyone took out the dinner they brought with them.

Song Jin took a quick look around and saw that most of them were steamed buns made with two or three gram flour, and some were corn steamed buns. The ones that surprised him were Liu Haitao and Xu Keke. Liu Haitao looked dressed in rags and was a very low-key person who spoke very little, but he took out a plate of white flour dumplings.

Xu Ke was wearing a new set of clothes: a white shirt, black pants, and...

Ahem, haven’t seen it yet.

The food she took out was a wild vegetable dumpling. She looked a little embarrassed when eating it, lowering her head and stuffing it into her mouth.

Song Jin didn't want to stare at them any longer. Seeing that everyone else had started eating and ignored her, she used her shoulder bag to retrieve the white flour dumplings she'd packed from the state-owned restaurant. She also saved the braised pork for tomorrow's lunch.

After finishing their dinner, everyone started to go to the restroom one after another, and the people who stayed behind helped watch the luggage. The carriage didn't become quiet until after nine o'clock.

Song Jin entered the space under the pretext of going to the toilet. Within one day, the three people and one tiger in the space had built a wooden house.

Looking at the uncontrollable excitement on the faces of the three people, Song Jin was still a little confused. Of course, she didn't know that the three people thought she had become an immortal.

I will live in a fairy mountain from now on, how can I not be excited.

Song Jin felt that it was a little inconvenient for her to come in. After all, her three hard laborers all had houses to live in, but she didn't even have a place to sit.

So she gave the three of them a house-building booklet and asked them to build a small wooden second floor next to the dividing line she drew in the shortest time possible.

Then he left the space again.

The train journey lasted three days and two nights. For the last two days, no one had the energy to sing. As more and more people boarded, the mix grew, and the smell in the carriage grew worse. Song Jin felt like he was being marinated.

At midnight that day, the train finally arrived at Harbin Railway Station in Heilongjiang Province.

Everyone started to squeeze down with their bags, large and small. Song Jin was the one who was most relaxed, and he just picked up his two suitcases and went down. After all, the suitcases were just for others to see, and the things were actually in the space, so they weighed almost nothing.

After getting off the bus, someone from the Youth League Office will pick you up at the station. You will first have to take a bus from Harbin to Qi County, and then change to a bus that stops at a designated stop from the county to the commune.

There were three old buses parked outside the train station. Staff members outside the buses were calling out loudly, and Song Jin and his companions got on the second bus.

Fortunately, Song Jin was quick and grabbed a spot so he didn't have to stand.

The bus shook and swayed for more than four hours until dawn when it finally arrived at Qi County.
