The two entered the cinema, but they didn't expect that there were already so many movies. The posters on the wall were first of all the feature film "White Haired Girl" and the Henan opera "Chaoyanggou". The most popular ones at this time were war films: "Tunnel Warfare", "Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy", "White Haired Girl", "Landmine Warfare", "The Battle of South and North", "Scout", "The Red Detachment of Women", "Crossing the River Reconnaissance", "Little Soldier Zhang Ga", and "Wild Fire Spring Breeze Fighting the Ancient City".
There are also films about the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, such as "The Surprise Attack", "The Battle of Shangganling", "Heroic Sons and Daughters", "The Fierce Battle of Unknown River", and "Strike the Invaders".
Song Jin thought he could choose which one to watch, but then he saw the small blackboard next to him saying that the movie playing today was "Little Soldier Zhang Ga".
Well, no choice.
It just so happened that Song Jin also watched the TV series "Little Soldier Zhang Ga" when he was a child.
The two of them arrived at the ticket window, where there was still a long queue. After waiting in line for a while, they bought two tickets and stood there waiting.
Chen Liang went to buy some soda and came back with a ten-cent deposit. After he finished drinking it, he went out to the door to get the bottle and get the deposit back.
The two of them went inside. It was completely different from the cinema Song Jin remembered. It was just a hall.
There were several rows of benches inside, most of which were already occupied. The two of them found two empty seats at the back and sat down.
The movie started after a while. The picture quality was not clear at all, but it gave a unique feeling.
"Little Soldier Zhang Ga" tells the story of a young boy named Zhang Ga, who lives with his only relative, his grandmother, in Baiyangdian, Hebei Province, during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. While protecting Eighth Route Army reconnaissance company commander Zhong Liang, who is recovering from injuries at home, his grandmother heroically sacrifices herself at the hands of the Japanese bayonet, and Zhong Liang is captured by the enemy.
To avenge his grandmother and rescue Uncle Zhong, Gazi, after a difficult journey, found his way to the Eighth Route Army and became a young scout. He displayed courage and resourcefulness while collaborating with scout platoon leader Luo Jinbao on missions. During one battle, he captured an enemy pistol, secretly hiding it in a crow's nest and not turning it in. He was arrested while conducting reconnaissance in the city to capture an enemy watchtower.
When tortured by the enemy, he bravely resisted, remaining steadfast. When the troops attacked the guardhouse, he cleverly set it on fire, effectively coordinating the attack. Ultimately, the enemy was completely annihilated, Uncle Zhong was rescued, and Grandma's death avenged. After the battle, Gazi voluntarily surrendered the pistol he had hidden in the crow's nest, and the captain officially announced that the pistol would be his. Satisfied, Gazi gave his cherished wooden pistol to his good friend Fatty.
This is a unique children's military film. It realistically and naturally portrays a young hero with a distinct personality. The protagonist is "stubborn," stubborn, yet intelligent and brave.
The director struck a careful balance, keeping the film convincing and within the context of the times and the characteristics of children. He also captured the atmosphere and setting in which the young protagonist grew up. The portrayal of Zhang Ga and the other innocent children in the film influenced an entire generation of young viewers.
After watching the movie, Song Jin was still thinking about it. She remembered that she had read a report about it before, and it was still fresh in her mind.
Gazi is not just a fictional character; he was created by writer Xu Guangyao through the life story of a real person. This person's name is Yan Xiufeng, a veteran of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, a veteran awarded the title of "First Class Combat Hero", and he is the prototype of Gazi.
Yan Gaizi had a difficult childhood. Born in the impoverished Baiyangdian Lake, his father was beaten to death by a landlord when he was young, and his mother died of depression, leaving him an orphan. Before he officially joined the guerrillas, he didn't even have a proper name; his neighbors simply called him "Gazi."
Under these circumstances, Gazi worked for the landlord from a young age, struggling to make ends meet. At the time, there were many children like Gazi in Baiyangdian, who supported each other. Fortunately, God is fair, and not all suffering befell one person. Fortunately, the surrounding villagers were kind and helped him survive.
When the Japanese army began to invade China and reached the central plains of northern Hebei, they used the entire Baiyangdian Lake as their training ground. In Gazi's eyes, he witnessed the cruelty and atrocities of the Japanese army and his atrocities, which inspired him to join the guerrillas.
But joining the guerrillas wasn't something a child like him could do, and he hit a wall. Gazi wanted to be a guerrilla, and his determination to fight the Japanese was unwavering. He applied several times, but the district Red Army refused, considering he was only twelve or thirteen years old.
Until one day, the Japanese surrounded Gazi's village in order to capture the guerrilla Eighth Route Army. At this time, Gazi used his own strategy to successfully help the Eighth Route Army hiding in it escape.
It was only after this incident that the Eighth Route Army's superiors, impressed by Gazi's wisdom and courage, finally approved his enlistment in the anti-Japanese guerrillas. The guerrilla leader even gave Gazi a name, giving him a name that truly belonged to him. Thus, Yan Xiufeng, known as the "Living King of Hell" by the Japanese, officially "came into action."
Although Yan Xiufeng joined the Anti-Japanese War at the young age of thirteen, his contribution to our army cannot be underestimated. This can be seen from the title of "Living King of Hell" that he was later given.
First of all, he was short, but smart and courageous, so he often participated in ambushes and infiltration missions. He used disguises to hide himself from many Japanese soldiers and traitors.
