Chapter 24 He An Speaks
He Wen inside heard someone calling him. When he found out it was Sister Zhang, he was no longer angry and hurried to open the door.
The door was not actually locked, because it was broken to begin with, but Fu Yuling “corrected” it so that it appeared intact on the surface.
The door creaked open, and He Wen saw Sister Zhang and called her "Mom" sweetly.
Sister Zhang sighed but didn't go in. "Is your mother home?"
When He Wen heard the word "Mom", he hesitated, but finally nodded.
"I won't go in while your mother is here. Here are some taro that your mother brought for you. Remember to eat them."
"Also, if your mom beats you again, come to me and I will help you."
When talking about Fu Yuling, Sister Zhang's eyes were filled with disgust.
He does nothing every day. Not only is he lazy and gluttonous, he also beats his children.
The current laws are very imperfect, and the villagers here don’t know that beating children is illegal.
So no matter how much Sister Zhang hated Fu Yuling, she was still the biological mother of four children. In order to avoid conflicts, Sister Zhang generally ignored Fu Yuling and turned a blind eye to her.
Today she saw that her two children did not come to work, so she came to check on them. Now she finds that they are in better shape than before, and she feels relieved.
He Wen nodded in agreement, and Sister Zhang closed the door for him and left.
"What are you still looking at? Go do what you need to do."
Sister Zhang shouted to the crowd, and the audience dispersed one after another.
They didn't really want to come and see it, but they heard others say that Fu Yuling's family had bicycles and wanted to come and join in the fun and learn some new things.
Thinking that there were so many people, Fu Yuling didn't dare to do anything to them.
Who would have thought that Sister Zhang would come to deliver gifts to this family? Some people were secretly dissatisfied. Why did she always give gifts to Fu Yuling's family? Was it just because of those children?
Because of this incident, many people started sending their children to work in the fields.
The village chief disagreed, and the group of people had no idea, so the matter ended up in nothing.
Fu Yuling had no idea what was happening outside. He took a look at the meal he had prepared and walked out of the kitchen only after he felt that there was nothing missing.
At first glance, I saw He Wen squatting on the ground counting things. I walked over slowly and saw a pile of taro.
"one two three,······"
After counting to twenty, He Wen got stuck and didn't move. Fu Yuling saw his brows furrowed and started counting from the beginning again.
"twenty······"
"Twenty-one."
Fu Yuling suddenly spoke, and He Wen followed him subconsciously.
"Twenty-two, twenty-three!!!"
His voice rose in a high tone, delighted.
"Twenty-three in all."
He put the taro into the basket one by one and counted them again. Children have good memories and soon he could draw inferences from one instance to another and counted to ninety-nine in one go.
"The last one is one hundred! That's ten tens."
Fu Yuling took out ten taro and placed them in front of him, then used a branch to draw nine circles next to them to make it easier for him to understand.
While teaching He Wen, He Xuan pulled He An over.
He held He An's hand and pointed at Taro, "Duck eggs."
He An opened his eyes wide, imitated He Wen, squatted on the ground, and babbled, "Dandan..."
Although his voice was very low, Fu Yuling still heard it.
The next second, he pointed at Taro excitedly, "An An, what is this?"
"Eggs..."
Two words came out clearly from his little mouth. Now that he could speak, he kept talking and called everything "dandan" by the name of it.
It was not until he saw a cat also saying "dandan" and the cat pointed its butt at him in disdain that Fu Yuling and He Wen could not help laughing out loud.
