Chapter 24 He An Speaks
He Wen inside heard someone calling him. When he found out it was Sister Zhang, he was no longer angry and hurried to open the door.
The door was actually not locked, because it was broken to begin with. It only looked intact on the surface after Fu Yuling "corrected" it.
The door creaked, and He Wen saw Sister Zhang and called her "Auntie" sweetly.
Sister Zhang sighed but didn't go in. "Is your mother home?"
When He Wen heard the word "Mom", he hesitated, but finally nodded.
"I won't go in while your mother is here. Here are some taro that Auntie brought for you. Remember to eat them."
"Also, if your mom hits you again, come to me and I'll help you."
When talking about Fu Yuling, Sister Zhang's eyes were full of disgust.
He does nothing every day. Not only is he lazy and gluttonous, he also beats his children.
The current laws are very imperfect, and the villagers here don’t know that beating children is illegal.
So no matter how much Sister Zhang hated Fu Yuling, she was still the biological mother of four children. To avoid conflict, Sister Zhang generally ignored Fu Yuling and kept her out of sight.
Today she saw that her two children did not come to work, so she came to check on them. Now she found that they were rounder than before, so she felt relieved.
He Wen nodded in agreement, and Sister Zhang closed the door for him and left.
"What are you still looking at? Go do what you need to do."
Sister Zhang shouted to the crowd, and the audience dispersed.
They didn't really want to come and see it, but they heard that Fu Yuling's family had a bicycle, so they wanted to come and join in the fun and learn something new.
Thinking that there were so many people, Fu Yuling didn't dare to do anything to them.
Who would have thought that Sister Zhang would come to deliver something to this family? Some people were secretly dissatisfied. Why did she always give things to Fu Yuling's family? Was it just because of those kids?
Because of this incident, many people began to send their children to work in the fields.
The village chief disagreed, and the group was helpless, so the matter ended up being left unresolved.
Fu Yuling was unaware of what was happening outside. He took a look at the food he had prepared and walked out of the kitchen only after he was sure that nothing was missing.
The first thing I saw was He Wen squatting on the ground counting things. I walked over slowly and saw a pile of taro.
"one two three,······"
After counting to twenty, He Wen got stuck and didn't move. Fu Yuling saw him frowning and started counting again from the beginning.
"twenty······"
"Twenty-one."
Fu Yuling suddenly spoke, and He Wen subconsciously followed suit.
“Twenty-two, twenty-three!!!”
His tone became high and he was very happy.
"Twenty-three in total."
He put the taro into the basket one by one and counted them again. Children have good memories and soon he could apply what he had learned to other situations and counted to ninety-nine in one go.
"The last one is one hundred! That's ten tens."
Fu Yuling took out ten taro roots and placed them in front of him, then used a branch to draw nine circles next to them to make it easier for him to understand.
While teaching He Wen, He Xuan pulled He An over.
He held He An's hand and pointed at Taro, "Duck eggs."
He An opened his eyes wide, and imitated He Wen as he squatted on the ground, babbling, "Dandan..."
Although his voice was very low, Fu Yuling still heard it.
The next second, he excitedly pointed at the taro and said, "An An, what is this?"
"Eggs..."
Two words came out clearly from his little mouth. Once he could speak, he kept talking and called everything "Dandan" (egg).
It wasn't until he saw a cat also saying "Dandan" and the cat turned its butt towards him in disgust that Fu Yuling and He Wen couldn't help laughing out loud.
