Chapter 125 The Lost Memories

Gu Shaojin looked at Ming Jiayi with a puzzled expression.

what happened?

Wasn't she just stealing glances at me?

Why did your expression change so quickly?

Ming Jiayi pretended not to see Gu Shaojin looking at her with a puzzled expression and silently lowered her head to play with her phone.

Gu Shaojin glanced down at an interview video that she had accidentally clicked on on her phone, which had been blurred out, and then looked up at Ming Jiayi.

He couldn't help but smile, then placed the phone directly on the table in front of Ming Jiayi and explained,

"It's just an interview video, don't misunderstand."

Ming Jiayi stared at Gu Shaojin's phone for a while. She couldn't say that she didn't need his explanation, otherwise it would confirm her crime of peeking at Gu Shaojin's phone screen.

So Ming Jiayi looked at Gu Shaojin with a bewildered expression and asked with a half-smile,

"What is Mr. Gu afraid I'll misunderstand?"

Gu Shaojin smiled and didn't say anything, then put away her phone. "I was afraid you'd misunderstand me as a pervert watching indecent videos in front of you."

Ming Jiayi suddenly felt herself choke on saliva. She coughed twice, then waved her hand awkwardly and stammered as she answered,

"No, no, Mr. Gu is such an upright person, how could he possibly be like that?"

"Yes, it's strange that someone as upright as President Gu would come up with such wicked ideas."

The door to the hotel restaurant's private room was opened, and Ming Fengche walked in while talking.

Ming Jiayi softly called out "Brother" to Ming Fengche.

Gu Shaojin glanced at Ming Jiayi and frowned slightly in displeasure.

She speaks so softly and gently to others, but when she speaks to him, she's so fierce...

"Xiao Yi, did you ask Xiao Gu to help bring down Bai Zong?" Ming Fengche asked Ming Jiayi seriously.

Ming Jiayi tilted her head. "I guess so."

"Xiao Gu, my sister has caused you trouble," Ming Fengche said to Gu Shaojin.

Gu Shaojin narrowed his eyes slightly, and the wrinkles between his brows became more pronounced.

"Destroying Baizong not only benefits the Ming family, but also my Gu family, doesn't it?"

Ming Fengche nodded.

That's absolutely right.

Ming Jiayi looked at Ming Fengche with some concern, "Brother, how was Bai Li just now? Is he alright?"

Ming Fengche replied nonchalantly, "I'm not sure. You two are very close?"

Ming Jiayi shook her head. "It's not that. I just think he's a really nice person, and then I feel a bit sorry for him."

Ming Fengche seemed somewhat skeptical, and he gently reminded him,

“Xiao Yi, like father, like son. I don’t believe Bai Li is a good person. Even if you really think he’s a good person, it might just be a facade he wants you to see. So, it’s best to stay away from him.”

Gu Shaojin found it hard not to agree with Ming Fengche's idea.

He glanced at Ming Jiayi's expression out of the corner of his eye, then echoed her with a hint of arrogance but still in a calm tone,

"Yeah, sometimes I think he's really good at pretending, I can't even do it."

Ming Jiayi silently rolled her eyes in her mind.

Why is Gu Shaojin so pretentious?

Ming Fengche smiled for no apparent reason, then looked at Ming Jiayi and then at Gu Shaojin.

"Jiayi, do you remember meeting Xiao Gu once when you were little?"

Ming Jiayi looked at Ming Fengche with a puzzled expression.

Did the original owner have contact with Gu Shaojin?

This part doesn't seem to be in the original owner's memory.

"There was this one time when Mom and Dad took us to Xiao Gu's house to play. And that day, you somehow had a breakthrough, and after hearing that Xiao Gu had excellent grades, you insisted on having a quiz competition with him."

Gu Shaojin stared straight at Ming Jiayi, as if trying to find some answer on Ming Jiayi's face.

Ming Fengche looked at Ming Jiayi and continued,

"But because Xiao Gu doesn't like talking to strangers, she hid away. As a result, you took me and searched the whole manor for Gu Shaojin."

After you found it, you asked Xiao Gu's tutor to give you a test. As a result, your score was about the same as Xiao Gu's. Your parents and I were a little incredulous at the time.

You know, Gu is a well-known child prodigy, and you, well, back then..."

Suddenly, Ming Jiayi had a flash of inspiration; she felt a sharp pain in her head.

No, no

This memory definitely does not belong to the original owner.

Is this a storyline task imposed on her by the system?

Why does my head hurt so much...?

"Xiao Yi, what's wrong?" Ming Fengche asked with some concern.

Ming Jiayi shook her head. She found that the more she tried to recall this memory, the more her head ached, as if she were possessed.

She stood up unsteadily, braced herself against the edge of the table, and slowly took two steps forward.

"Brother, Mr. Gu, I need to go to the restroom."

Gu Shaojin looked at Ming Jiayi tenderly, a hint of worry on her face.

Ming Fengche quickly stood up and grabbed Ming Jiayi, "I'll go with you."

Ming Jiayi shook her head; her headache had subsided. She waved and then jogged out.

As soon as Ming Jiayi opened the door to the private room, she saw Su Heyi standing at the door.

She smiled politely and then walked outside.

In a corner not far away, a paparazzi with a camera clearly captured the scene.

...

"Xiao Gu, Feng Che, hi~" Su Heyi greeted them warmly as he entered the private room.

These three have been best friends since childhood, playing and growing up together.
