Chapter 235 Percent

"So you want to film my cancer-fighting story?"

The girl chuckled and asked in return, as if she didn't mind at all.

"Yes..."

"Sure, but I've already posted my cancer-fighting story on my social media accounts. Would you mind if that happened?" the girl asked sincerely.

Chen Jing scratched his head, searching his memory for anything about the girl.

Before the variety show started filming, he specifically looked at the stories of cancer patients on various social media platforms, even those with low likes and views. But he really had no memory of this girl at all...

"Of course I don't mind! May I ask what your account name is? And which platform is it on?" Chen Jing asked innocently.

"Langbo and similar platforms, I have them all. The account name is 'percent sign,' which is that 'percent' symbol," the little girl answered earnestly.

"Percentage? You mean that 17-year-old girl? But I remember that girl had long hair, right? How could she..." Chen Jing asked somewhat bluntly.

The little girl got up, went to the ornately decorated corner, picked up a wig, and put it on her head.

"Hehe, now I have long hair. Actually, I've posted pictures of myself with a shaved head before, but I wanted them to see me looking more energetic and good-looking, so I bought a wig. I mentioned it in a previous post."

"I see..." Chen Jing replied, scratching his head apologetically.

"Yes," the little girl replied with a smile as she took off her wig.

"So, are you going to film now?" Bi Tingran asked, standing behind the little girl.

"Take the picture," Chen Jing replied simply.

Chen Jing went to the stairwell and brought back a tripod and another camera, which he then set up in the little girl's hospital room.

Ming Jiayi and Yu Jianyan sat on the sofa, while the little girl put her wig back on and then sat on the bed facing Ming Jiayi and Yu Jianyan.

Chen Jing moved a chair for Gu Shaojin, who was sitting by the door watching Ming Jiayi and the others.

Mo Xing and Bi Tingran stood outside the door, staring intently inside.

The camera was turned on, and the recording of the story officially began.

The little girl greeted the camera familiarly, and then began to introduce herself.

"Hello everyone, my name is Wan Yu'an, also known as 'Percent,' a 17-year-old cancer patient. I'm very happy to let you get to know me in this way, although it's not a good thing, hehe."

The camera focused on Ming Jiayi and Yu Jianyan. As instructed by Chen Jing, they were to take turns asking each other a question.

Looking at the optimistic girl in front of her, Ming Jiayi asked hesitantly,

"Little sister, I'd like to know what illness you have? Why are you still so optimistic even though you're sick?"

Percent smiled happily at Ming Jiayi and replied.

"Hehe, I have a tumor in my heart. It was just discovered two months ago, and unfortunately, it's malignant and in a bad location."

The doctor said the chances of the surgery being successful are very low, so now I can only be transferred to another department and stay in the hospital for chemotherapy.

As for the question of optimism, well, I've been in this world for 17 years now, not a long time, but not a short time either. I'm very lucky to have come into this world, very lucky to be my parents' child, and even more lucky to have met so many kind people.

I feel that my life has been worthwhile. Since I am destined to face this tribulation, I do not want to wear a long face. I will greet this tribulation with a smile.

Do you know why my account name is "Percent Sign"? A percentage sign has two circles, right? And there's a slash in the middle. If you rearrange them and round it up, it becomes 100, representing my 100% confidence in getting through this ordeal.

Mo Xing, listening outside, was stunned. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she choked out, "..."

"My God, why do I feel like this 17-year-old girl is more insightful than me?"

Bi Tingran glanced at Mo Xing, then answered indifferently.

"Whether someone lives a fulfilling and insightful life isn't determined by age. Her family is just an ordinary one; after she was diagnosed with this disease, they simply couldn't afford the high medical costs of chemotherapy."

When she was first diagnosed, she kept saying she didn't want to get treatment anymore, but her parents wouldn't agree. They said they would sell everything they owned to pay for her treatment. So now, her parents are each working two jobs a day, working themselves to the bone to earn money.

One day I happened to see her hiding in the ward and crying all day. The next day, her eyes were swollen like little steamed buns.

But after that, she seemed to have suddenly figured things out, and she stopped crying. Every day, she would take photos, videos, and live streams with a smiling face.

I later asked her why she did all this, and she said she wanted to help people who were going through similar difficulties regain their confidence and bravely face cancer. She also wanted to earn some money through these channels to help cover her medical expenses.

Kids these days think way more than we did. Don't think they don't understand anything; they're actually quite sensible.

Mo Xing couldn't hold back her tears from Bi Tingran's second sentence onwards. Her face was drooping, and she cried like a baby.

"Then... how much longer does she have to live...?"

Bi Tingran lowered her head, remained silent for a moment, and then answered in a very soft voice.

"Given her current physical condition, if the surgery is successful, her five-year survival rate is quite high. But relying solely on chemotherapy... I'm afraid she might not even survive a year..."

Mo Xing looked at Bi Tingran in astonishment, and asked through sobs, "How could this happen..."

The people in the ward were startled by Mo Xing's somewhat hysterical voice and all looked up at the door.

Percent grinned broadly at Mo Xing; his face looked so youthful, innocent, and full of energy...

Ming Jiayi got up and walked around behind Chen Jing. She frowned and stared at Mo Xing, asking in confusion, "What's wrong? What happened?"

Mo Xing glanced past Ming Jiayi at the Percent sign in the ward, who had resumed answering questions in front of the camera, and then choked up as she relayed what she had just heard to Ming Jiayi.

Ming Jiayi listened to everything with a serious expression, then turned to look at Percent, but Gu Shaojin had somehow appeared behind her.

Gu Shaojin put his arm around Ming Jiayi's shoulder and comforted her in a low voice.

"If you want to help her, I'll go talk to the dean for you now."

Ming Jiayi nodded and answered with utmost seriousness, "Okay."
