Chapter Ninety-Seven: Leaking Company Secrets

“But your father succeeded in weakening the Ming family,” Gu Shaojin said calmly.

"So what? What does this have to do with me? My father's affairs have nothing to do with me. It was like this before, it is like this now, and it will be like this in the future," Bai Li replied irritably.

Suddenly, as if he had just thought of something, he looked at Gu Shaojin with some excitement and reminded her, "Don't tell Jiayi that I'm from the Bai family."

"What difference does it make whether you tell her or not? Do you really think she'll fall in love with you just because you're from the Bai family?" Gu Shaojin retorted sarcastically.

"I don't want her to fall in love with me just because I'm from the Bai family."

Gu Shaojin snorted coldly and said sarcastically, "Don't overthink it. You know her name is Ming Jiayi, right?"

“I know, so…” Bai Li’s eyes widened slightly, and he said in shock, “Ming… Jiayi? You mean?”

"Hmm." Gu Shaojin looked at Bai Li's expression with satisfaction, feeling extremely pleased.

"So she brought up the Baiming project on purpose just now? And you got the information for her?"

Gu Shaojin calmly lowered her head and opened her phone, ignoring Bai Li's series of questions.

"Why did she suddenly ask for the Baiming project information? Did she find out something? She shouldn't blame me for what my father did..." Bai Li muttered to himself.

Seeing that Gu Shaojin ignored him, he took out his phone and sent a text message to Ming Jiayi before walking out.

He needs to find information about the Baiming project immediately.

Ming Jiayi had just come out of the restroom when she felt her phone vibrate, but she hadn't had a chance to look at it yet.

She watched the director who had filmed the promotional video that day walk past her, and she quickened her pace, wanting to go up and say hello to him.

The director quickly walked into Gu Shaojin's office and then said something to her.

Ming Jiayi leaned against the door of Gu Shaojin's office and checked her phone.

—Bai Li: Jia Yi, I have an urgent matter to attend to. We're recording a show together tomorrow, so I'll repay you for the meal I owe you after the show.

—Ming Jiayi: What show are we recording together?

—Bai Li: It's that slow-paced variety show. I saw your name on the guest list. You can decide what you want to eat beforehand, and I'll treat you.

—Ming Jiayi: Okay.

About ten minutes later, Chi Yun led several police officers into Gu Shaojin's office.

Ming Jiayi looked at them blankly, then followed them inside.

“Officer, this is him. He’s suspected of leaking our company’s secrets. What do you think we should do?” Chi Yun said earnestly, pointing at the director.

The director panicked immediately, his expression still a bit bewildered. "What? I didn't! Don't frame me!"

"What's on that USB drive you have? Do you dare to show it to us?" Chi Yun asked.

Following Chi Yun's words, the police officers looked at the director's hand and saw that he was indeed holding a USB drive.

Ming Jiayi watched as Gu Shaojin sat calmly in his office chair, the screen on his computer displaying the video she had taken that day when she hacked into Gu's security system.

She instantly understood what had happened.

"You have no sportsmanship! Didn't you ask the photographer to delete it that day? How come you still kept a copy?" Ming Jiayi asked speechlessly, a slight smile playing on her lips.

"Yes, Mr. Gu, it's her. She asked me to use this video to threaten you, saying she could extort a large sum of money from you," the director retorted.
