Chapter Eighty-Six: Misplaced Sincerity

"You don't need to come here for the audition this morning," Feng Yunyun told Ming Jiayi over the phone early in the morning.

Ming Jiayi yawned and asked casually, "Why don't we suddenly have to go over there?"

"Don't you know what a huge commotion your post last night caused?" Feng Yunyun asked sarcastically.

“This morning, all the directors and producers who had previously worked with Xiang Wanqiu approached me, wanting you to play the female lead in their new dramas.”

"Why me?" Ming Jiayi was a little confused.

"Ming Jiayi, how come I never realized you were such a good actor before? Don't pretend with me, anyone with eyes can see you're using Xiang Wanqiu to promote yourself."

Ming Jiayi realized the hidden meaning in Feng Yunyun's words, and then smiled disdainfully.

Then Feng Yunyun continued speaking on the other end of the phone.

"When you sent me that surveillance video from the film crew to threaten the director of 'Rebirth of Yun Jin' last time, did you already have this in mind?"

Why didn't you just send me the video of Xiang Wanqiu's conversation with the staff back then?

The original owner's sincere feelings were ultimately misplaced.

If Feng Yunyun truly considered Ming Jiayi a friend, would she have said such things?

Ming Jiayi pouted, looking aggrieved, and her acting instincts kicked in again.

"Honey, if I had sent it to you beforehand, how would I be able to unleash this ultimate move now? Don't you think so?"

“That’s true.” Feng Yunyun smiled and said softly, “I helped you cancel the movie audition you were supposed to have this morning, and then helped you get a role in a TV series directed by Director Zhang.”

“Sure, baby, I have no objection. Do you have a script?” Ming Jiayi said in a strange tone.

"Yes. Director Zhang's drama is a major production of the year, and everyone is eyeing it. If it weren't for your recent popularity and the fact that you exposed Xiang Wanqiu's scandals, they definitely wouldn't have chosen you as the female lead."

“Oh, is that so? I’ll thank myself properly,” Ming Jiayi replied matter-of-factly.

The first phase of the task—filming and winning awards—can't be rushed, so let's take advantage of the ample time now and quickly complete the second phase—revitalizing the Ming family.

Ming Jiayi rummaged through the closet and found a change of clothes that her mother had brought her to the hospital. She then changed into them and swaggered out of the ward carrying her laptop and phone.

"Xiao Yi, where are you going?" Ming's mother asked.

“I’m going to the company to find my brother,” Ming Jiayi replied.

"Nonsense. You had surgery early yesterday morning, and you were dodging that person's knife last night. Why are you going to the company instead of resting? Go back and lie down." Ming's mother said firmly, a rare occurrence for her.

Ming Jiayi gently touched her waist, then said in a slightly coquettish voice, "It's okay, I'm made of iron, I can handle it. I have something urgent to tell my brother."

“Call him and ask him to come over,” Ming’s mother said.

"That's not a good idea, my brother is busy too. I can go by myself," Ming Jiayi said seriously.

"How can we trust you? You broke your back from being pushed, and now someone is trying to assassinate you while you're in the hospital? Do you know how scared your parents were last night?" Ming's mother said angrily.

Looking at her mother's slightly flushed face, Ming Jiayi felt a pang of heartache and couldn't move. "Alright... then call my brother to come over..."

Ming Jiayi sat on the hospital bed, seriously studying the current operational direction of the Ming family business.

In the past few years, Ming's and Gu's were similar, both involved in a little bit of every industry sector.

However, in recent years, Ming's economy has been sluggish, so it has reduced many of its business developments.

Currently, there are only two main businesses that are still under development.
