Gu Family Manor is located in a relatively remote part of Beijing. It takes about an hour to drive there from the city center, and after entering the manor gate, it takes another 8 to 10 minutes to get to the villa area.
The security guard opened the gate, and Gu Shaojin drove in at breakneck speed.
After entering the gate, flowers were planted on both sides of the road.
The flowers there are managed by Gu Jia's professional horticulturists, who change the types of flowers according to the seasons.
There are three villas in the villa area. Originally, one villa was where Gu Shaojin's grandparents lived, one villa was where Gu Shaojin's father lived, and the other villa was where Gu Shaojin lived.
But Gu Shaojin's grandfather lived deep in the mountains and rarely came out of the capital.
After Gu Shaojin's grandmother passed away, Gu Shaojin's father also went abroad, so now Gu Shaojin lives alone in the manor.
Gu Shaojin skillfully backed the car into the garage, and then she and Ming Jiayi got out of the car and walked towards Villa No. 3.
Butler Zheng must have heard the car engine; he stood at the entrance of Villa No. 3 early on, waiting for Gu Shaojin and Ming Jiayi to arrive.
"Young Master, Miss Ming," Butler Zheng greeted, bowing slightly.
Ming Jiayi smiled at Butler Zheng, then followed Gu Shaojin inside.
But as soon as they entered the villa, the two saw a fair-skinned, beautiful woman with a graceful figure stand up from the sofa and look at Gu Shaojin with a smile.
Gu Shaojin turned around and glanced at Butler Zheng with a blank expression.
Then Butler Zheng's voice reached their ears, "Young Master, it was the Master who asked Miss Le Ying to come here to find you. I called to verify before letting Miss Le Ying in."
Gu Shaojin nodded, then glanced at the somewhat bewildered Ming Jiayi and took her hand.
Ming Jiayi tilted her head and looked at Gu Shaojin with some confusion, but Gu Shaojin did not respond to Ming Jiayi. Instead, she pulled her towards the stairs.
The woman, whom Butler Zheng called Le Ying, glanced at Gu Shao Jin and Ming Jia Yi's tightly clasped hands. A cold glint flashed in her eyes, but she quickly concealed it.
She strode toward Ming Jiayi and Gu Shaojin. As soon as she got close to them, Xie Leying stepped forward and took Gu Shaojin's free arm.
Xie Leying said in a high-pitched, affected voice, "Shao Jin, it's been a long time."
Gu Shaojin glanced down at Xie Leying's hand, then expressionlessly pulled her own hand away and led Ming Jiayi upstairs.
Xie Leying looked at Gu Shaojin's retreating figure with slight embarrassment, then said in a somewhat aggrieved tone,
"What's wrong, Shao Jin? Why are you being so cold to me..."
Ming Jiayi looked back.
She rubbed her eyes with her right hand, somewhat confused, wondering if she was seeing things. Why did she feel like Xie Leying was glaring at her the moment she turned around?
But right now, Xie Leying clearly looks all wronged...
Xie Leying didn't stop because of Gu Shaojin's indifference. She instantly changed back to her smiling self and followed behind Gu Shaojin and Ming Jiayi.
"Shao Jin, I came back this time intending to stay and work in a hospital in China. My uncle asked you to help me with the onboarding procedures at the Central Hospital in Beijing."
Gu Shaojin didn't even turn her head, and replied directly, "Father has already spoken to the dean, you can go and start working directly."
Hearing Gu Shaojin's reply, Xie Leying smiled smugly as she watched Ming Jiayi's retreating figure.
"Oh? But I just came back from abroad and I'm not very familiar with this place yet. My uncle said you should take care of me."
Gu Shaojin ignored Xie Leying and led Ming Jiayi into a room at the very end of the second-floor corridor. He looked at Ming Jiayi with a hint of doting affection and asked...
"This is your room. How is it? Are you satisfied? If not, I'll have someone come and change it right now."
The room was decorated in a Scandinavian style, and the overall look was simple yet elegant. The wooden floor paired with the gray sofa created a sense of harmony.
Gu Shaojin walked to the window and pulled back the curtains to reveal a large floor-to-ceiling window. Outside, she could see the scenery of the back mountain of the Gu family manor, creating a pleasant atmosphere.
Unfortunately, it's nighttime now, and it's pitch black outside.
Ming Jiayi nodded, quite satisfied with the room.
The room's decor was very similar to her apartment in the city, and both rooms gave her a sense of security and comfort.
Xie Leying stood in front of Ming Jiayi, blocking Ming Jiayi's view of Gu Shaojin. "Shaojin, where is my room?"
Ming Jiayi looked down at Xie Leying, whose head was slightly bald, and scratched her ear and cheek in confusion.
Is this person Gu Shaojin's childhood sweetheart? I don't think I've ever seen him before, and I've never heard of his name.
Gu Shaojin turned to look at Xie Leying and asked expressionlessly, "Don't you have a home?"
The two nannies standing at the door, ready to go in and help Ming Jiayi pack her things, couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Young Master is too sharp-tongued.
"Ah..." Xie Leying's face instantly filled with grievance, "My parents are still abroad and haven't come back yet, so my uncle asked me to stay at the Gu family's house for a while."
"Oh," Gu Shaojin replied coldly, "I don't have any rooms available at my place. You should stay at a hotel."
Xie Leying turned to look at Ming Jiayi, then replied with a sour tone,
"How can there be no vacant rooms? Building 1 or 2 would be fine too. And if I remember correctly, Miss Ming's home isn't far from here, right? Why doesn't Miss Ming go home to stay?"
"It's not far from here, but Xiao Gu kindly invited us to come and stay with him, so of course we couldn't refuse."
The three of them heard Ming Fengche's somewhat self-righteous voice.
"Don't get me wrong, my brother and I aren't that shameless."
Xie Leying smiled gently, and answered as if with utmost seriousness.
"Yes, I'm in the same boat as you. Uncle Gu kindly invited me to stay at the Gu family's house for a while, and I felt bad refusing."
"Oh dear, didn't I often stay at the Gu family's house when we were little? Shao Jin, you might have forgotten, but we used to sleep together quite often when we were kids."
Gu Shaojin's gaze quickly fell on Ming Jiayi's face. Seeing that Ming Jiayi didn't seem to care at all, he felt a little complicated.
He was worried that Ming Jiayi would be jealous, but he was also worried that she wouldn't be...
Gu Shaojin glanced coldly at Xie Leying out of the corner of her eye, then replied indifferently.
"You must have dreamt about it."
Ming Fengche laughed without any mercy, and said sarcastically,
"I used to come to the Gu family to see Shao Jin when I was a child, but I've never seen you before. Are you delusional? Who is your father? Are you trying to curry favor with him?"
