The Ghost King Descends

The Ghost King Descends

Guan Zheng fell into the pool, just like throwing a stone into a lake. Although ripples appeared, it eventually returned to calm. She paddled desperately, but unfortunately Guan Zheng was not good at swimming, and she couldn't float up despite her many attempts.

She had to try hard to hold her breath. Bubbles passed by her one after another, and her eyes were hurt by the cold water.

It was almost reaching her limit. Guan Zheng covered her mouth and nose with her hands, trying to prevent herself from exhaling all the air in her mouth. Her hair, which had been tied up before, had loosened and was floating freely in the pool, like a blooming flower with her dress fluttering.

The bell in her arms also fell out. Seeing this, Guan Zheng's eyes widened suddenly. She tried hard to reach up and finally pulled the bell back to her side.

She seemed to hear a bell ringing, perhaps it was an illusion, but she didn't care at the moment.

A huge feeling of suffocation came over her, shattering her sanity. Her heartbeat was as deafening as a drum, but Guan Zheng didn't want to die yet. She had promised Yan Chan that they would live together.

But the pond water was merciless. It tried desperately to get into Guan Zheng's nasal cavity. The pond water seemed to have thorns, and it hurt her the moment it entered her nasal cavity. She could no longer hold on and exhaled the last of the air in her mouth. Watching the bubbles getting farther and farther away from her, she slowly closed her eyes.

Her body sank little by little, as if she had merged with the water, allowing it to manipulate her at will.

In an instant, a mass of air surged up from the bottom of the pool, tightly wrapped Guan Zheng, and took her to the deepest part.

Bottom of Stone Crow Pond

A towering palace stands safely, and small blue flowers are scattered all over the bottom of the pool, illuminating the surroundings.

The air mass placed Guan Zheng in the center of the hall, circled around it but did not leave. There was no pool of water here, as if it was blocked by some magic.

The air mass rushed towards Guan Zheng's chest violently, and every collision caused Guan Zheng to cough up a lot of water.

Guan Zheng's long eyelashes trembled, and she finally opened her eyes. Her five senses gradually gathered, but the pain of choking on water had not yet subsided.

Her hair was stuck tightly to her face, but she had no time to care about it at the moment. The water dripped down her eyelashes and even formed a line on her chin and fell to the ground.

She lay on the ground coughing violently, her throat felt like it was rubbed by sandpaper, burning with pain. The drowning just now made her very weak, her five fingers weakly grasped the ground, her head was still dizzy, she forced herself to sit up and look around this strange place. Although it was dilapidated, she could still see the splendor of the past.

"Have you seen enough?" The ethereal voice came from all directions and penetrated into her ears.

"Who?" Her ears were also uncomfortable, and she subconsciously covered them the moment she heard the voice. Guan Zheng looked around but did not see any figure.

"look up."

Upon hearing this, Guan Zheng looked up and saw a ball of air gathering above her head, and it was slowly condensing into a human form. To be precise, it was the upper body that took shape, while the area below the waist and abdomen was still in the shape of a ball of air.

The moment Guan Zheng saw that face, she felt that all the words in the world were not enough to describe her beauty, like a blooming flower, a cold night, and the bright moonlight.

The two marks on her face added a bit of mystery to her.

Seeing Guan Zheng's dazed look, she was no longer surprised. She just held her chin and waited quietly for Guan Zheng to calm down. After all, this was not the first time they met, nor was it the first time she stared at her in a daze.

The spirit floated down from the sky until it was at the same height as Guan Zheng. Her hair was so long that it could even cover the air mass below. Unfortunately, it was not a solid entity. The hair did not spread out on the ground, but went straight into the ground.

"You came back so quickly. You could have stayed a little longer. Why did you come back so early?" Jiang Ling nodded his head with his index finger, a hint of confusion and distress on his face. He walked around Guan Zheng, trying to find the answer from her.

"Besides, I'm very full now and can't eat anymore." She stroked her flat belly and spoke to herself, completely unaware that Guan Zheng was confused at the moment.

"What?" Guan Zheng hadn't understood a single word from the moment the spirit descended until now. Did she recognize her? Why did she look so familiar? Guan Zheng wondered, but she didn't remember any such person.

Seeing Guan Zheng's dazed look, she frowned and said, "You don't remember anything at all? I clearly told you to drink less Mengpo soup, why didn't you listen?" Jiang Ling circled Guan Zheng a few more times and finally poked her head out from behind her. She put her nail polish-painted fingers on Guan Zheng's shoulder and patted her with regret.

"Who are you?" Although the girl in front of her had a friendly demeanor, Guan Zheng still felt a strong sense of oppression from her. She seemed unable to move and her whole body was frozen in place.

"Do I need to introduce myself again? It's such a hassle." Jiang Ling sighed, flew in front of Guan Zheng, stared at her eyes with bright eyes, opened his lips slightly, and revealed his identity in between.

"The Ghost King descends." Jiang Ling's lips curled up slightly, but the smile did not reach her eyes. "You must remember this time." She held her chin and stared at Guan Zheng's changing expression.

What? It’s the same as last time. He wasn’t surprised at all. Jiang Ling narrowed his eyes.

"Aren't you afraid of me? Have you guessed my identity a long time ago?" The sudden closeness of Jiang Ling made Guan Zheng lean back involuntarily. She quickly supported herself on the ground with her right hand, trying not to appear too flustered. Her beautiful eyes widened slightly, and he had never expected that she would do this.

"Are you the Ghost King?" Guan Zheng's voice trembled slightly. She sneezed unexpectedly. The water in the pond was so cold that she couldn't help shaking. "Aren't you asleep?"

The water droplets on the hair were still dripping. Jiang Ling stretched out his hand to catch them, but the water droplets ruthlessly passed through him, and even a hole was smashed into his palm. Mist rose up and floated around, and finally condensed back into his palm.

"Yes, my real body is still asleep." Jiang Ling just stared at his hands blankly and muttered.

Jiang Ling quickly recovered, touched his lips with his fingertips, and said slowly, "So, you came here this time because you had a wish fulfilled?"

“…”

"Huh? You even forgot this?" Her pretty brows frowned again, and she felt helpless when she saw Guan Zheng didn't know where to start.

"...Your subordinates went on a killing spree in the forbidden area, and I unfortunately fell into the Stone Crow Pond. I don't know how I ended up here." Guan Zheng lowered his eyes and sat on the ground with a lifeless look.

I don't know what the situation is like outside now. Is Yan Chan... okay? Thinking of this, Guan Zheng's nose felt slightly sore, and she felt a sharp pain in her heart. The hand holding the hem of her clothes slowly tightened.

"I see. No wonder I ate so much this time." Jiang Ling supported his head with emotion, his fingertips brushed across his red lips, and he squinted his eyes in satisfaction.

"They...were all eaten by you?" Guan Zheng raised her head in disbelief, her eyes were watery and slightly red at the corners, as if she had been crying.

"A sacrifice is a sacrifice, but I didn't expect the preparation this time to be so rich, so much that it will fill up the Stone Crow Pond." Jiang Ling looked up, not knowing what he was looking at.

The air froze in an instant, leaving only Guan Zheng's faint breathing.

"Aren't they doing this to wake you up?" Guan Zheng looked up in the direction her gaze was pointing, but could only see the dome.

The dome shimmered in the reflection of the lake water, with countless tiny blue flowers hanging upside down on it. It was so beautiful.

"You smell so good." Jiang Ling stuck to Guan Zheng without noticing and buried his nose in her neck.

Although the descending spirit had no physical body, the sudden appearance of the shadow still made Guan Zheng feel very uncomfortable.

"The extremely yin horoscope is indeed very tempting." Jiang Ling licked his lips, and this action scared Guan Zheng a lot.

"You...do you want to eat me?" A drop of water dripped from Guan Zheng's forehead, and she couldn't tell whether it was pool water or cold sweat.

You’re full already, why does the Ghost King change his mind so suddenly?

"Eat you? It's not the time yet." She stepped back with a smile, "But you promised me..." Guan Zheng didn't hear a word of the rest of the words, she only saw her red lips opening and closing.

She didn't know whether the spirit didn't make any sound or if there was something wrong with her ears.

"I have no intention of waking up. This time, I beg you to let me sleep a little longer..." Realizing that more and more people had died and their souls were floating towards him, Jiang Ling was no longer in the mood to chat with Guan Zheng.

As these words were spoken, the bell that Guan Zheng had carried with her for many years floated in the air, emitting a faint blue light.

"Lingling, what's going on..." A faint blue light illuminated Guan Zheng's face. In an instant, the water from the pool broke through the restriction and rushed into the ruined hall. The figure of the descending spirit disappeared in the tide and disappeared without a trace.

Guan Zheng, who was originally kneeling on the ground, was also lifted up by the water. Her long hair swayed with the waves behind her, and the bells floating on her hands suddenly shone brightly. She spread out her hands, and the entire pool of water was dyed a dark blue, and even the surface of the Stone Crow Pond was shining.

More and more flowers bloomed at the bottom of the pool, and even the ruined palace was now surrounded by small blue flowers.

The ears were filled with the singing of thousands of souls. The flowers swayed and emerged from the bottom of the pool, carrying one soul after another to the surface. Strings of bubbles emerged, reflecting Guan Zheng's face.

She slightly opened the five fingers of both hands, palms facing up, and clasped her hands in front of her chest. A faint blue light shot straight into the sky from the bottom of the pool, instantly illuminating the entire Fengdu Ghost Market.

By the side of the Stone Crow Pond, the man who had stopped breathing suddenly took a deep breath and coughed continuously while covering his throat.

The survivors fell to the ground as if they had lost all their strength, looking up at the sky which had suddenly changed.

The pale blue flowers floated in the air, like a dream. The surging blood that blocked the forbidden area quietly receded. If it weren't for the mess on the ground, it would seem as if what happened today had never happened.

Deep in the Stone Crow Pond, Guan Zheng placed Yan Chan on her lap. The boat was swaying, just like her uneasy heart. She brushed away the loose hair on Yan Chan's forehead and placed her warm hands on her cold cheek.
