On this pitch-black night, a cold moon hung high in the sky, casting a chilling light. Dark Moon Fairy stood in the silence, holding a short, delicate flute and gently playing it. The melodious and mysterious sound echoed in the air, as if possessing a strange magic.
As the flute sounded, a group of creepy snakes and rats began to appear and quickly gathered together, but just a moment later, these creatures disappeared without a trace like ghosts, as if they had never existed.
Elsewhere, Du Heng carried the robber who had launched the hidden arrow into the temple. He dropped the body heavily onto the ground with a dull thud. The girls, who had been terrified by Dark Moon Fairy's bloodbath against the robbers, now only trembled slightly and didn't react much.
Dark Moon Fairy raised her eyebrows slightly and said calmly, "You've come at the perfect time. Untie the ropes on these girls."
Du Heng immediately sprang into action, expertly untying the ropes from the girls' hands and feet. At the same time, he reported to Xueying, "Master, the guy who shot the arrow has committed suicide by taking poison!"
Blood Shadow walked forward, pried open the robber's mouth with a sharp dagger, and carefully picked out a bitten poison sac from the back tooth socket.
He observed it carefully and sneered, "This is a poison used exclusively by the royal family! It seems that even if the person behind this incident is not a member of the royal family, he must have some connection with the royal family!" There was a sharp light flashing in his eyes, as if he had seen through the truth of the matter.
Dark Moon Enchantress slightly raised her long and slender eyebrows, and said in a cold and arrogant tone: "Since the person has been found, I have nothing to linger on. I'll leave first! As for these girls, you will be responsible for escorting them away safely!" As soon as the voice fell, she turned around and walked out of the temple without hesitation, as if she had no intention of lingering at all.
Xueying frowned and ordered Du Heng, "Make sure these girls return home safely!" Then he quickly followed Dark Moon Fairy's footsteps and rushed out.
Dark Moon Enchantress's footsteps were unusually light and swift, moving like a ghost through the mountain paths. Although Blood Shadow gave his all, it took him a while to catch up with her halfway up the mountain.
Dark Moon Fairy stopped, a hint of impatience in her eyes, and coldly questioned the Blood Shadow who was blocking her way: "What do you want?"
The corners of Xueying's mouth lifted slightly, outlining a faint smile: "After all, we are all hired to protect Luo Lingyue. If something unexpected happens, how can I get in touch with you?"
Dark Moon Enchantress sneered and replied disdainfully, "Why would I contact you? We're both in the same profession, so we're destined to be friends! Stop pestering me, or I'll kill you!"
With that, she flashed and leaped onto the treetops as lightly as a bird. Then, she leaped several times through the dense woods, and in the blink of an eye, she disappeared without a trace...
Blood Shadow stood there like a statue, a bitter, helpless smile on his face. He couldn't help but laugh at himself, "How could I have forgotten? Dark Moon Enchantress has always been so cold and ruthless! Even though we've worked together so many times, she still has no good feelings towards me and won't even give me a friendly look."
Yet, deep in Bloodshadow's heart, Darkmoon Enchantress always held a special place. Her unique and independent personality captivated him, making him unable to extricate himself. Despite her indifference towards him, he still longed to be close to her and understand her.
However, the reality made Xueying feel extremely depressed. He noticed that Dark Moon Fairy's attitude towards Xiao Shizi was completely different. She seemed to pay special attention to and favor the weak and sickly man.
This discovery made Xueying feel confused and disappointed. Could it be that Dark Moon Fairy likes the kind of weak type of men?
Thinking of this, Xueying couldn't help but shake his head, trying to push these worries out of his mind. He leaped and flew down the mountain, his figure quickly disappearing into the forest. He decided to put aside this emotional distress for the time being and focus on his mission and responsibility. Perhaps one day, he would find answers, or at least be able to let go of this fruitless relationship.
Just as Dark Moon Fairy and Blood Shadow left the temple, Luo Lingfeng hurried over with a group of guards. Du Heng was supporting Liuli, whose legs were weak from fear, as they slowly walked along the bumpy mountain path. Linglong, leading the other girls, followed closely behind them.
When Luo Lingfeng saw that Liuli and Linglong were safe and sound, his heart, which had been hanging in the air, finally settled down a little.
He immediately ordered the guards to go and support Liuli, but Liuli was in tears and tightly grasped the corner of Du Heng's clothes, obviously she was very scared.
Du Heng had no choice but to explain to Luo Lingfeng, "Sixth Young Master Luo, I am Du Heng from the Soul-Crossed Sect. I have been entrusted by Third Young Master Luo to escort you all safely to Jiangnan."
Luo Lingfeng nodded in understanding after hearing this. He then said to Du Heng, "Since that's the case, please, Young Master Du, take Liuli back to the inn!"
Du Heng carefully protected Liuli and comforted her softly, "Don't be afraid! With me here, no one will dare to hurt you again!"
After everyone returned to the inn, Luo Lingfeng was still a little worried. He once again instructed the guards to ensure that the girls arrived safely to their families.
However, at that moment, a secret guard hurried in to report, "Prince Xiao has disappeared!" This news was like a bolt from the blue, shocking Luo Lingfeng to the point that his hands and feet began to tingle. It was indeed true that what you feared would come true!
