Li Jingshu collapsed on the cold ground in a mess, tears pouring out like a broken dam. Her voice trembled and pleaded, "Cousin! Please forgive me!"
However, the prince was unmoved. He kicked her hard and said in a cold tone, "Get out! I never want to see your face again!"
Li Jingshu's body curled up due to severe pain. She covered her stomach tightly and let out a heart-wrenching scream: "Cheng Li! How can you be so cruel to me?" She widened her eyes, revealing despair and unwillingness.
The prince just glanced at her coldly, then turned around resolutely and ordered the guards around him without any reluctance: "The Crown Princess has suddenly fallen ill and has gone insane! You must watch her well! Never allow her to step out of the bedroom!" After that, he left without looking back, leaving Li Jingshu there to endure the pain and humiliation alone.
In the second half of the night, all was silent, the moonlight streaming down the palace like water. Crown Prince Chu Chengli was immersed in a sweet dream with his concubine Li Xuemei, when a burst of urgent shouting shattered the tranquility.
"Crown Prince! The Crown Princess had a miscarriage!" The guard's voice sounded outside the door, with a hint of panic and tension.
Chu Chengli was startled awake by the sudden cry, and a surge of anger surged in his heart. He rubbed his eyes and cursed impatiently, "What are you yelling about! If you have a miscarriage, go get the doctor! What are you still standing there for?"
The guard stood outside the door and said anxiously, "But the Crown Princess wants to see His Royal Highness! She said she has something to tell you..."
Chu Chengli's brow furrowed even deeper, feeling deeply irritated. At this moment, Li Xuemei beside him spoke softly, "Your Highness, I understand how my sister feels right now. Perhaps she needs your comfort. Why don't you let me go and see her? Your Highness, you don't have to go in person, lest you be contaminated by the foul air."
Chu Chengli listened to Li Xuemei's words and felt that they made some sense. He nodded dazedly and said, "Alright, then I'll trouble you, my beloved concubine. Go check on her for me and tell her that I will pray for her!" After saying this, he turned over and lay down again, continuing to sleep.
Li Xuemei gently stood up, straightened her clothes, and then winked at the guard at the door. The guard understood and quickly withdrew, and together they went to the Crown Princess's bedroom.
Elsewhere, a tense atmosphere permeated the Crown Princess's chambers. The Crown Princess was pale and frail. She lay in bed, tears glistening in her eyes and her lips trembling slightly.
When she saw Li Xuemei coming, a nameless rage suddenly surged in her heart: "Witch! How dare you come here? What on earth do you want to do?"
Li Xuemei's lips curled up slightly, a mocking smile forming. "Haha, I'm just here to see my dear sister. By the way, I want to tell you that His Royal Highness the Crown Prince asked me to bring you a message. He said he will pray for you day and night in front of the Buddha, praying that you are safe and sound."
Hearing this, Li Jingshu was so angry that she trembled all over, her beautiful eyes widened, and she shouted angrily: "Get out of here! I never want to see you, a woman with a heart as vicious as a snake, again!" Her voice was full of anger and determination, as if she wanted to vent all her dissatisfaction.
Li Xuemei looked at the guards solemnly and ordered in a firm tone, "In my opinion, the Crown Princess's current condition is not caused by a miscarriage, but more like a hysterical attack! You must immediately leave the room and wait. No one is allowed to enter without my permission!"
The guards looked at each other, with a hint of doubt in their eyes, but they knew very well that Li Xuemei was in favor, so they did not dare to neglect her in the slightest and turned around and left silently.
At this moment, only Li Jingshu and Li Xuemei remained in the house. Li Jingshu stared at the closed door, her heart filled with fear and despair. Suddenly, she let out a shrill scream: "Go and call the imperial physician! Save my child! Go quickly!" Her voice was so sharp and piercing that it seemed to pierce the oppressive air. However, the guards outside the door remained unmoved, obeying Li Xuemei's orders and remaining at their posts.
Li Xuemei slowly sat down on Li Jingshu's bed, her eyes gleaming with a gloating glint. She spoke in a sinister tone, "Back then, when my mother was about to give birth, your mother, the Prime Minister's wife, actually withdrew everyone who could help her. The result is predictable: my mother passed away from a hemorrhage after giving birth to my sister and me!"
Li Jingshu looked at her with horror, her voice trembling as she said, "That's all the grudges of the previous generation! What does it have to do with me?! Please, save my child! Where's the prince? He's his eldest son!"
Li Xuemei seemed to have heard the biggest joke in the world. She laughed so hard that her body shook uncontrollably. After a long while, she stopped laughing and said, "If the Crown Prince really cared about your child, how could he have the heart to kick you in the stomach? Li Jingshu, Li Jingshu! Think about how proud you were as the eldest daughter of the Prime Minister's family, and now you have fallen to such a fate. You don't even have a maid who treats you sincerely!"
Li Jingshu struggled to get up from the bed. She stretched out her trembling hands and tightly grasped the hem of Li Xuemei's skirt, her eyes flashing with despair and pleading: "Please, for the sake of us being sisters, please save me!"
However, Li Xuemei mercilessly slapped her hand away, her eyes as cold as ice, her voice cold and ruthless: "Save you? Have you ever thought about how your mother treated my mother back then? Now, all this is just karma!"
Li Jingshu's face turned pale as paper, tears welled up in her eyes. She knew her mother's mistakes, but now she was in a desperate situation and had no other choice but to ask Li Xuemei for help.
