The city at night was shrouded in a veil of mystery. Luo Lingyue and Shang Lu, brother and sister, dressed in night clothes, moved swiftly between the high-rise buildings like ghosts. Their figures loomed in the darkness, as if blending into the night.
Luo Lingyue's heartbeat quickened, a wave of nervousness spreading through her. She was acutely aware that the Soul-Seeking Sect's martial arts were truly unfathomable, far superior to those of the Dark Moon Pavilion. Every time she passed them, she could sense their powerful, chilling presence, which filled her with worry for the Dark Moon Pavilion's assassins.
Shang Lu led them to an unassuming pharmacy. He knocked on the window, familiarly following the signal. A moment later, an old, deep voice rang out from inside: "Who's there?" A hint of alarm lingered in the voice.
Shang Lu looked anxious. He hunched over and lowered his voice as if he was afraid of being heard by someone. "Doctor, my wife is having a difficult delivery." His tone was full of worry and nervousness.
The doctor's voice revealed a sense of vicissitudes of life. "How many babies are you having?" It seemed as if he was no longer surprised by such situations.
Shang Lu lowered his voice: "The eighth child!"
Luo Lingyue stood aside, her eyes twitching uncontrollably. This Soul-Seeking Sect's secret code was too bizarre!
The door of the pharmacy slowly opened, and a figure appeared in the doorway. It was an elderly man, his eyes revealing wisdom and the traces of time. Shang Lu stepped forward, locked eyes with the old man for a moment, and then quickly led them into the pharmacy.
After closing the door, the old man showed a respectful look on his face and said softly: "Protector Shang, please follow me!" There was a hint of awe in his voice, as if he was full of respect for Protector Shang.
He led Shang Lu and the other two toward the backyard with gentle steps, maintaining a humble demeanor the entire way. When they reached the rockery in the backyard, the old man paused and carefully unscrewed a mechanism hidden among the rocks. As it opened, a mysterious dark cave appeared before their eyes.
The old man held a tinder, illuminating the darkness ahead. He led the three into a dark cavern filled with an air of antiquity. Their footsteps echoed in the silence, as if whispers of time could be heard. Each step along the dark passage held an unknown adventure.
They twisted and turned through a maze of paths, as if they were in a labyrinth. The old man led them left and right, each turn filled with anticipation for the next scene. Finally, they arrived at a secret door.
The old man gently pushed open the secret door, revealing an unknown world behind it. The faint light of a fire flickered in the darkness, giving people a mysterious and sacred feeling.
They cautiously exited the secret door and finally arrived at a small farmyard. The old man nervously walked to the door of a small house and knocked gently, his voice filled with anxiety: "Is anyone there?"
A little girl's clear voice came from inside the house: "Who is it?"
The old man lowered his head and said in a low voice: "My sow is having a difficult delivery!" His tone was full of worry, and he seemed to be very worried about the sow's condition.
The little girl's voice sounded again, revealing her concern: "Which baby is it?"
The old man frowned and said in a heavy tone: "The eighteenth child!" It seemed that this eighteenth child was particularly difficult for him.
Dark Moon Fairy's temples throbbed uncontrollably. She could no longer endure it and angrily kicked Shang Lu, lowering her voice and shouting, "Which idiot came up with this secret code?"
The corners of Shang Lu's mouth twitched, and he answered helplessly in a low voice: "Our leader." There was a hint of helplessness in his eyes, and he seemed a little speechless about the leader's secret code.
Dark Moon Fairy sneered, a look of disdain on her face, and mocked, "Has your sect leader been kicked in the head by a donkey?"
Phytolacca: “…”
The little girl opened the door nervously, a hint of awe in her eyes. She said softly and respectfully to Shang Lu, "Shang Protector, please follow me!"
The old man in the pharmacy silently sent them to the door, then turned and left. His back looked a little old and tired.
The little girl led them into a cellar in the house, which was filled with a damp smell. Many holes appeared before their eyes, and the dark entrances made people feel terrified.
The little girl carefully led them into one of the caves. Dark Moon Fairy felt her patience slowly wearing thin. She cursed inwardly, wondering if Blood Shadow had lost his mind. He was just hiding Princess Nanzhi, so why was he so cautious?
With every meter she advanced, Dark Moon Enchantress's irritation grew. She thought to herself, this method of hiding is simply torture. Princess Nanzhi isn't some rare treasure, so why go to all this trouble? For the sake of the gold, she could only swallow her frustration and continue crawling forward.
After about half an hour, they finally emerged from the cave. Standing there exhausted, they saw a dilapidated Taoist temple before them. The little girl approached and gently knocked on the door. A childish voice called out from behind, "Who's there?"
The little girl took a deep breath, calmed herself down, and then said softly, "My dog is having a difficult delivery!" There was a hint of anxiety and worry in her voice.
The Taoist boy then asked, "Which child is this?"
The little girl replied: "No...."
Luo Lingyue gritted her teeth, a nameless anger welling up in her heart. Unable to tolerate this delay, she raised her foot and kicked the door of the Taoist temple, sending it flying. The Taoist boy was frightened and panicked by this sudden scene. He quickly ran to the side, staring at the newcomer in horror.
When he saw Shang Lu, he felt a little relieved. He wiped the sweat from his forehead and said to Shang Lu, "Shang Protector, the code hasn't been completed yet!" There was a hint of grievance and helplessness in his voice.
A hint of apology flashed in Shang Lu's eyes. He walked over to the Taoist boy, patted him on the shoulder, and comforted him, "Don't worry, it's okay." Then he turned to the little girl and said, "Let's follow the rules and don't scare the children."
A trace of guilt appeared on the little girl's face. She nodded and said softly, "The twenty-eighth birth!"
The Taoist boy looked at them, then smiled and said, "It's okay, I understand how you feel. Come in, I will take you to see the master." His smile was full of kindness and innocence.
Dark Moon Enchantress thought viciously that if Blood Shadow were here at this moment, she would strangle him to death without hesitation!
The Taoist boy led them into the Taoist temple, where they saw a Taoist priest with white hair sitting upright. The Taoist priest slowly stood up and handed a note to Shang Lu.
Shang Lu was puzzled and asked in confusion, "Isn't Princess Nanzhi here?"
The Taoist priest shook his head slightly and said slowly: "This note contains Princess Nanzhi's whereabouts."
Dark Moon Fairy gnashed her teeth, her anger erupting like a volcano. She wished she could rip Blood Shadow into pieces! After running around all night, all she got was a piece of paper!
