Chapter 15 Ghost Encounter in the Imperial Garden

"Your Majesty, I have no desires, but I wish to visit my third brother. May I go to Weiyang Palace with you?"

This was something Ye Jingchen had planned last night after deciding to come and freeload off the imperial meal. He would take the emperor to Weiyang Palace so that he wouldn't be turned away by the imperial concubine and could also do the love-struck concubine a favor.

Yes, that's right, the emperor is the one who does that favor.

The concubine Ji Wushuang mentioned in the novel is the youngest legitimate daughter of a family that has been hidden for a thousand years. She was pampered and spoiled, and is simple, straightforward, and unpretentious with clear likes and dislikes.

She fell in love with the emperor at first sight and, despite the opposition of her clan, insisted on entering the palace to become a concubine.

Knowing the power of her family, the emperor naturally wouldn't neglect her on the surface. He not only made her the Noble Consort, the head of the four consorts, but also gave her more frequent favors and rewards than the other consorts.

In the harem, she held a noble position and enjoyed the emperor's favor, so she always thought that the emperor liked her too. However, after the crown prince tried to push Ye Jingyu into the water but ended up falling in himself, she went to the emperor to reason with him. However, the emperor punished her severely without explanation, not only injuring her body but also causing the emperor to begin to neglect her and Ye Jingyu.

The imperial harem has always been a place of fawning on the powerful and stepping on the weak. When she is favored by the emperor, everyone naturally wants to curry favor with her. But when she is disliked by the emperor, everyone wants to kick her while she's down. Not to mention, the struggles in the harem are always fraught with danger, killing without shedding blood.

After suffering countless losses, both physically and emotionally, Ji Wushuang turned to the dark side. She lost all hope in the emperor but became obsessed with the throne.

Of course, unlike other concubines, her desire for Ye Jingyu to compete for the throne was not because she cared much about the position, but simply because she wanted to take revenge on the emperor and the crown prince.

This is the original plot of the novel. After Ye Jingchen transmigrated into the body of the crown prince, he immediately stopped the emperor from punishing Ji Wushuang. At least she wouldn't suffer from health problems and develop chronic illnesses due to being forced to kneel for too long, as she did in the original story.

Ji Wushuang herself has no ambition. Her biggest ambition is to win the heart of the man she likes. If she doesn't turn evil, she won't pose a threat to Ye Jingchen.

Therefore, Ji Wushuang is the best point of attack.

However, Ji Wushuang is a person with clear likes and dislikes. Since the original owner wanted to harm Ye Jingyu, Ji Wushuang definitely didn't like the original owner. Although Ye Jingchen had already sent Chenxi to send the two people that Consort De had placed in the East Palace to Weiyang Palace as a stepping stone, it was uncertain whether Ji Wushuang would agree to let him see Ye Jingyu.

But if he takes the emperor with him, Ji Wushuang can't possibly turn the emperor away too, can he?

"What are you going to see Jingyu for?" the emperor asked in surprise.

“Jingyu was there when I fell into the water. He’s so young, he must have been frightened. As his older brother, it’s only natural that I had to go and check on him,” Ye Jingchen said seriously with a straight face.

The emperor was amused and couldn't resist reaching out to pinch his beloved son's chubby little face.

When I pinched it, I found that the little chubby face was actually quite elastic and felt nice to the touch, so I couldn't resist pinching it a few more times.

"Father, what are you doing?" Ye Jingchen quickly grabbed his hand, trying to save his little face.

The emperor found his behavior amusing and deliberately tugged at him until Ye Jingchen cried out in pain with tears in his eyes, at which point he quickly withdrew his hand.

Upon closer inspection, a red mark was indeed visible on her fair face.

The emperor, feeling somewhat guilty, picked Ye Jingchen up and ordered the palace servants, "Prepare a palanquin; we're going to Weiyang Palace."

The palace servants obeyed the order to prepare the ceremonial guards. When the emperor carried Ye Jingchen out of Chengqian Palace, the palanquin was ready, one large and one small. However, the emperor ordered the small one to be removed and he sat on the large one with Ye Jingchen in his arms.

Being held on the lap of a big man made Ye Jingchen extremely awkward. He could only try to distract himself by looking around and trying his best to ignore the presence of the person next to him.

The journey from Chengqian Palace to Weiyang Palace passes through the Imperial Garden. When Ye Jingchen arrived at the Imperial Garden in his palanquin, he could no longer sit still.

"Father, the flowers in the Imperial Garden are so beautiful, shall we go over there?" he asked, shaking the emperor's hand.

Thinking that Ye Jingchen had just compared the flowers to spring and given them to him, how could the emperor bear to refuse his small request? He ordered the palanquin to stop, and he carried Ye Jingchen down from the palanquin, but did not put Ye Jingchen down. Instead, he planned to carry him away like this.

"Father, I'm very heavy. Don't tire yourself out. Put me down. I want to hold your hand as we walk." Ye Jingchen said, struggling slightly.

"The Imperial Garden is very large, you'll get tired walking around by yourself." The Emperor was quite reluctant to part with the child, because it felt so good to hold the little dumpling in his arms.

Although he has many children, he has only personally held the two children born to the Empress. Now that his daughter is grown up and he can no longer hold her, he can only hold his son to satisfy his craving.

"Then how about Father carries me when I'm tired? Chen'er is also worried that Father will get tired." Ye Jingchen negotiated with the Emperor.

With such a considerate son, how could the emperor possibly say 'no'?

He put Ye Jingchen down, took his little hand in his big hand, and walked towards the Imperial Garden, followed by a large group of people.

The flowers in the Imperial Garden were of a greater variety than those in the Eastern Palace Garden, vying for beauty and exuding a delightful fragrance.

"Although all the flowers in this garden are beautiful, the one I gave to my father is the most beautiful!" Ye Jingchen boasted shamelessly, lying through his teeth.

The flowers he sends must be the most beautiful; otherwise, how can their value be reflected?

"Chen'er is right, none of these flowers can compare to the one Chen'er gave to Father Emperor," the Emperor agreed with a smile.

When the emperor later learned that the crown prince had gotten up before dawn and spent a long time picking out the flower, he was even more moved.

But that's a story for later. Right now, Ye Jingchen is holding the emperor's hand, walking along with a clattering gait, admiring the precious flowers in the imperial garden, smelling their refreshing fragrance, and feeling quite pleased with himself.
