Chapter 176 Learning Cuju

Ye Jingyu himself didn't expect that he had eaten so much without realizing it.

After finishing his classes and returning to Weiyang Palace for dinner, Ye Jingyu belatedly realized that he seemed to have been eating all day.

After breakfast, we would have morning tea an hour later. This was the Crown Prince's way of saying it, and he thought it was very apt.

After morning tea, lunch is served an hour later.

An hour and a half after lunch, it was time for afternoon tea.

After afternoon tea, school ended an hour later, and upon returning to Weiyang Palace, it was time for dinner.

Surprisingly, although he ate all day, he actually ate a few more bites of food than usual at dinner.

Although it was only a few bites, it had already caught Ji Wushuang's attention.

Although Ye Jingyu was well cared for by her and was healthy and energetic, there was one thing: he had a very small appetite.

Every time he eats, he only takes a few bites before he can't eat anymore, saying he's full.

For this reason, Weiyang Palace consulted imperial physicians many times, but none of them could find any problems. Helpless, Ji Wushuang could only focus on the diet.

Since he eats so little, we can only supplement his diet with food. After all, he is still young and growing, so he needs plenty of nutrition.

However, after taking this supplement, Ye Jingyu lost his appetite even more.

Ji Wushuang was extremely troubled by this.

Unexpectedly, Ye Jingyu's appetite increased on the second day after he went to Wenhua Hall. Although he only ate a few more bites, it made Ji Wushuang very happy.

On the afternoon of the third day, Ye Jingshu finally had her long-awaited archery lesson.

Before this, Ye Jingchen had already selected several teachers skilled in Cuju from among the attendants and lecturers in the Eastern Palace, and explained to them in advance the origin, gameplay, and rules of Cuju.

Furthermore, the Imperial Clothing Bureau was ordered to work overnight to produce uniform Cuju (ancient Chinese football) outfits for them.

Inspired by the cloak he had seen before, Ye Jingchen had long wanted to provide Wenhua Hall with uniforms, and this Cuju game finally gave him the opportunity.

The outfit consisted of a matching top and trousers/skirt, with straight sleeves, and the top was a dirt-resistant black, paired with black ankle boots.

Although the clothes are exactly the same, the embroidery patterns on each garment are different, and these patterns were created after consulting with each of them.

For example, Ye Jingshu's clothes were embroidered with large golden peonies.

Ye Jingchen's clothes were embroidered with stars.

Ye Jingming's clothes were embroidered with a tripod, Ye Jingyu's with a jade pendant, Ye Jingyu's with a beautiful jade, and Ye Jinghe's with his favorite camellia.

Yun Shu's clothes were embroidered with cloud patterns, Wu Zemin's with mountains, and Gu Beichen's with pines and cypresses. Only Xie Chang'an was dressed in black, without any patterns.

Uniform attire is important. Wearing the same clothes unconsciously creates a sense of identity and belonging, and also makes people more united.

After the group of little ones in the Wenhua Hall changed into their matching outfits, in Ye Jingchen's opinion, their cuteness increased several notches, not to mention their imposing presence.

Especially Ye Jingyu and Xie Chang'an, who looked incredibly cute in their pink outfits against the black background.

Unfortunately, one wasn't allowed to be taken advantage of, and the other couldn't be taken advantage of either, so Ye Jingchen could only secretly enjoy watching from the sidelines.

After changing their clothes, the gentlemen personally demonstrated and taught them how to control the ball with their feet.

The ancient game of Cuju has evolved into modern football.

Both the gameplay and the rules are similar to those of football.

This is a sport that looks simple, but you'll find it's not simple once you try it. It really tests your coordination and flexibility.

Ye Jingshu was the most excited and the first to try it. When she first started playing with it by herself, she found it very interesting, bringing the ball around and having a great time.

Ye Jingyu watched Ye Jingshu play, itching to join in, and suddenly intervened, kicking the ball away from Ye Jingshu.

Ye Jingshu didn't expect Ye Jingyu to suddenly kick her for the ball. Her foot missed, she lost her balance, and fell down.

She fell as suddenly as Ye Jingyu snatched the ball from her.

Although the ground wasn't dirty, it wasn't exactly clean either, and Ye Jingshu had probably never fallen so abruptly and awkwardly in her entire life.

Before she could even get up from the ground, her eyes were already blazing with fury at Ye Jingyu.

Ye Jingyu flinched in fright.

My elder sister's eyes are terrifying!

But he didn't do it on purpose; he just wanted to play with his older sister.

Ye Jingchen was quick-witted and nimble-fingered. Before Ye Jingshu could lose her temper, he pulled her up from the ground and brushed the dust off her body.

"Sister, that's how Cuju is. Because you kick with your feet, your center of gravity is unstable, so it's easy to fall. Do you still want to continue playing?" he asked while patting the ball.

Having made such a huge blunder right after starting, Ye Jingshu's passion for Cuju instantly diminished by half. She couldn't care less about getting angry at Ye Jingyu and instead frowned.

She's a princess, wouldn't it be too unseemly for her to keep falling down? There are so many people watching!

And the ground was really dirty!

"Why don't you watch us play first, then decide whether you want to join in?" Ye Jingchen asked with a smile.

Ye Jingshu, who was both beautiful and concerned about her image, hadn't yet recovered from the fall. Ye Jingchen's question was exactly what she wanted to hear, so she quickly said, "Alright, you guys play first, this princess will watch first."

"Let me take a look first," Ye Jingming said unhurriedly.

His sister's fall made him realize that playing Cuju (ancient Chinese football) was not an easy thing. If he went onto the field without any preparation, he might end up like his sister.

"Sure," Ye Jingchen agreed with a smile.

As expected of Ye Jingming, he has been very steady since childhood.
