The result of holding the horse stance for half an hour was that Ye Jinghe's legs were so weak that he couldn't even stand up straight.
“You can’t go for a morning run like this, so just rest for today,” Ye Jingchen said, supporting him and frowning.
"Too much of a good thing is bad. You're still young, there's no need to push yourself so hard," he advised.
"No!" Ye Jinghe refused without even thinking.
He remembered that when his brother first started taking them for morning runs, Xie Chang'an always looked exhausted when he came to the East Palace. Yun Xiaopang even said that he looked like he had been drained dry. If Xie Chang'an could persevere back then, there was no reason why he couldn't!
If he misses his morning run because of practicing horse stance, then what's the point of practicing horse stance?
"Don't worry, brother, I'll be fine after a rest." He said, giving Ye Jingchen a sweet smile.
But perhaps he was too tired, even his smile showed a sense of exhaustion.
Ye Jingchen sighed.
Environment truly shapes a person. At such a young age, he's incredibly resourceful, leaving no room for others to survive.
Ye Jingchen is now a little worried. If Ye Jingyu finds out that Ye Jinghe is so cunning, he wonders if he will also get involved.
Now that Consort Xian has already given him two days off, shouldn't she send him to school today?
Ye Jingchen didn't believe that Consort Xian, with her wisdom, would believe those rumors in the palace.
To allow Ye Jinghe to rest a little longer, Ye Jingchen carried him to the garden.
When most of the people had arrived, Ye Jingyu also came. Yun Shu was talking to him, probably asking him for the secret to getting two days off.
"Crown Prince, what's wrong with Fifth Prince? Is he sick?" Ye Jingyu asked with some concern when he saw Ye Jinghe being held by Ye Jingchen.
He's fine, just a little bit injured—
"Brother, put me down. I can walk by myself," Ye Jinghe interrupted Ye Jingchen.
Ye Jingchen understood; they didn't want him to talk about his horse stance.
"Fifth Brother, are your injuries still not healed?" Ye Jingyu leaned closer and asked in a low voice, his expression a mixture of a smile and a forced smile, his lips unconsciously curving upwards but not showing it, he was clearly struggling to suppress it.
What an idiot!
Ye Jinghe couldn't help but roll his eyes and quickly looked at his brother's face. Sure enough, he saw that his brother's eyes were narrowed.
"We were just having a friendly spar, where did the injury come from?!" Ye Jinghe asked, enunciating each word clearly.
Reminded by Ye Jinghe, Ye Jingyu also thought of the rules set by his elder brother and quickly looked at his brother, only to meet his brother's dangerous gaze.
He was so startled that he jumped.
"No injuries, I misspoke, we're all fine!" he quickly corrected himself.
"Yes, you'll stop at nothing to skip school!" Ye Jinghe immediately turned the tables.
Ye Jingyu: ...
I'm so annoyed!
Ye Jingyu couldn't think of a rebuttal to Ye Jinghe for a moment, so he could only glare at him.
Ye Jinghe glared back.
Ye Jingchen ignored them, as if he hadn't seen their little tricks, and led everyone in warm-up exercises first.
After he finished, he walked over to Ye Jinghe and took his hand.
Ye Jinghe was puzzled, but that didn't stop him from being happy.
He was very obedient as his older brother led him, and then they walked to Ye Jingyu's side.
With the two little ones looking on in confusion, Ye Jingchen took Ye Jingyu's hand with his other hand, one in each hand, and pulled them each a step closer to each other, then put their hands together.
Both of them withdrew their hands in disgust, so quickly as if the other's hands were something dirty.
"Hold my hand!" Ye Jingchen said in a commanding tone.
The two looked at Ye Jingchen, then at each other, then at Ye Jingchen again, before reluctantly reaching out.
Seeing that there was no room for maneuver, Ye Jinghe acted faster than Ye Jingyu and grabbed his hand.
Ye Jingyu instinctively tried to struggle.
"You two must hold hands the whole time during this morning's exercise; neither of you can let go!" Ye Jingchen told them.
"This is punishment for harming your own brothers. Any objections?" Ye Jingchen stared at them with a dangerous expression.
The older brother's/royal brother's expression is terrifying!
Ye Jingyu and Ye Jinghe immediately shook their heads instinctively.
"I'll have someone secretly watching you, so don't even think about letting go halfway!" Ye Jingchen added.
“If you give up halfway, I’ll put your desks together and make you sit together in class and at meals,” he threatened.
The two of them imagined the terrifying scene and shook their heads vigorously.
"Let's start running now," Ye Jingchen said to them. "You guys go first."
Normally, Ye Jingchen would run in front, with Xie Chang'an running alongside him, but now that Ye Jingchen had spoken, Ye Jinghe and Ye Jingyu had no choice but to run first.
Although their hands were clasped together, their strides were different. Ye Jingyu had long legs and was full of energy, so his strides were much larger than Ye Jinghe's. As soon as he ran, he caused the unsuspecting Ye Jinghe to stumble.
"Did you deliberately try to make me fall?" After regaining his balance, Ye Jinghe grabbed Ye Jingyu to stop him from running away.
"How was I supposed to know your short legs would make you run so slowly? You're short yourself, how can you blame me?" Ye Jingyu asked, unconvinced.
"So what if you've grown taller? It's a pity you've only grown taller, not smarter," Ye Jinghe retorted sarcastically.
Ye Jingchen rubbed his forehead, feeling somewhat weary, and asked, "Since you two like to compete so much, why don't you go and compete with Father?"
