Chapter 135 The Person Has Been Caught

After leaving the lumber shop, Yunling headed towards the Lu family's trading company. However, halfway there, she thought that since she was going to ask for a favor, she should bring something with her to avoid being impolite. So, she detoured to the market.

She hadn't walked more than a few steps when an unknown hand grabbed her purse. What audacity! To dare target her like that! She quickly grabbed the man's wrist and lifted his hand away.

Turning around, I was met with that person's gentle eyes. He was quite handsome, and even the sunlight seemed to favor him, shining on him and making him appear to glow.

If Yunling paid attention, she could easily notice how strong the pulse was on this person's wrist.

Lu Yinghuai felt his heart was about to jump out of his chest. He had arrived at the Lu family business before dawn and was standing guard at the entrance.

He watched Yunling walk towards him step by step, but for some reason, she suddenly turned and left. He was afraid that he would never see her again, so he hurriedly ran up and luckily caught her.

"You stole my things?"

"You...don't remember me?"

Yunling felt a pang of panic. When had she ever met this person? But his expression didn't seem like he was joking. Could it be that they had actually met before?

She took a step forward, tilted her head back, and leaned in to examine it closely.

But her step happened to fall right in the eyes of Shen Changliu, who was enjoying tea on the second floor across the street.

"Her, Huai-ge'er, and the two of them..."

When Pei Lin heard Shen Changliu mention Lu Yinghuai, he followed Shen Changliu's gaze and immediately saw Yun Ling and the two of them holding hands. He accidentally spilled most of the tea in his hand. How could she, and them, be together, and so intimately?

"Just watch, senior brother. He'll be driven crazy by her."

As expected, Yunling shook her head, widening the distance between them and releasing his wrist. "Don't you remember? Have we met before?"

Lu Yinghuai hurriedly took a step forward, "It's me. Six years ago, on the Lantern Festival, you were kidnapped by human traffickers and put on a carriage. When you woke up, you saw me. You even clenched your fist and wanted to hit me. We worked together to take down three human traffickers. I still owe you twenty strings of silver. Don't you remember?"

Yunling suddenly realized, "I don't remember."

Lu Yinghuai didn't miss the cunning look in the man's eyes when he said that, which infuriated him. He knew exactly how much he wanted to recognize her, but she pretended not to remember.

Lu Yinghuai snatched her purse and ran away. Yun Ling was caught off guard and took a leap to try and knock him to the ground, but she ended up flying onto his back and her feet were bound.

"You'd better hold on tight, or I won't be responsible if you fall."

"Logically speaking, I'm your savior. Not only do you not repay my kindness, but you also stole my purse. I'm going to strangle you."

Yunling pinched his ears,

Lu Yinghuai was as happy as a flower, and he spun around in circles with Yunling.

“Huai-ge’er is completely different when he’s with this young lady.”

"Oh, I didn't see it."

Pei Lin brought the teacup to his lips with trembling hands.

"You weren't watching the whole time?"

“Where did I see that? Senior brother, don’t talk nonsense,” Pei Lin put down his teacup, crossed his legs, leaned back in his recliner, and closed his eyes. “I dislike these kinds of love affairs the most. They’re exhausting and boring.”

Although he had his eyes closed, the image of the two spinning around remained in his mind, lingering there. He now understood why Lu Yinghuai had been waiting by the ship at the Fu family's trading company that day; he was waiting for Yun Ling.

Lu Yinghuai gently put Yunling down, his ears burning red, and he almost blurted out, "When can I send a matchmaker to propose marriage?"

"Give me."

"oh."

Lu Yinghuai immediately pulled out a banknote from his pocket, and Yunling explained, "It's a money bag."

Lu Yinghuai said "Oh," then folded the paper money under the money bag and handed it to Yunling, saying, "If you have something to do, go ahead and take care of it."

Yunling then remembered that she needed to see Young Master Lu. She waved goodbye to Lu Yinghuai and hurriedly ran into the market. But when she went to pay with copper coins, she discovered that she had paper money under her purse.

Didn't that man owe her twenty strings of cash? Why did he give her a banknote? Yunling grabbed her things and ran back to the spot, but the man was nowhere to be seen. Right, what was his name? Where did he live?

Yunling scratched her head and walked into the Lu family business, only to be told by Uncle Cao that Lu Yinghuai was not there.

"Will you be available tomorrow?"

"That won't save you any money, young master has been very busy lately."

"Is he busy at the shop, or has he gone out of town?"

"By going back and forth, it will be very late when we get back to the shop, but he will be going to the Chrysanthemum Festival on the Double Ninth Festival. Perhaps you can run into him there."

Yunling estimated that the Double Ninth Festival was only about a month away, so she decided to wait. After all, she was the one asking for a favor, so it wouldn't hurt to be humble.

"Thank you, Uncle Cao. I'll be going now."

"Hey, I heard from your father that you went to Qingcheng?"

"Yes, but the pickled duck I brought back was divided up. Otherwise, I would have given Uncle Cao two to try."

Uncle Cao said with delight, "Young lady, you're very thoughtful. There's a cotton workshop in Qingcheng. Are you going there to buy cotton to make cotton mattresses?"

Yunling sensed something was off. "Yes, I wonder how Aunt Cao finds it?"

"They certainly praised it highly. Many wealthy families in the city have placed numerous orders with you, young lady. I wonder if you have any plans to expand and strengthen this business?"

"That's for sure, but finding a capable and compatible partner isn't easy, Uncle Cao, don't you think?"

Uncle Cao carefully examined Yunling. She was quite different from the previous times he had seen her. Before, she always stood quietly, making him think she was quiet and didn't like to talk.

That makes sense. Someone who can go to Qingcheng to do business on their own and make all these novelties must be an ordinary person.

Brother Huai has a really sharp eye.

"Yes, that makes sense. Young lady, you should be discerning. If you encounter any problems, feel free to come to our Lu Family Trading Company. After all, we have always been cooperating and have a good relationship with each other."

"Alright, thank you for your guidance, Uncle Cao."

Yunling had considered partnering with middlemen to help her sell her goods in the capital and Jiangnan, but she was only just starting out and it was best not to be too hasty.

For now, she'll treat the olive branch extended by the Lu family as a bargaining chip, since the land belonging to the eldest son's family is very important to her.

After Yunling left, Lu Yinghuai came out from the inner hall.

Uncle Cao was puzzled. "Brother Huai, haven't you always wanted to see that young lady? Now that she's here, you're hiding from her. I wonder what you're up to."

Lu Yinghuai touched his ear, having his own plans in mind. "Uncle, you have to cast a long line to catch a big fish."
