Chapter 269 Hiding Here

Lu Yinghuai memorized it every time he saw it, and repeatedly memorized it in his mind, finally able to spot Yunling's carriage in the crowd at a glance.

And the carriage in front of them was undoubtedly Yunling's!

He hadn't noticed the carriage parked there earlier; it must have just arrived, hence the crowd...

Lu Yinghuai first looked around but couldn't see Yun Ling. Just as he was about to go forward to look for her, he suddenly noticed that there seemed to be two extra legs behind the carriage. He was secretly delighted, but without making a sound, he tiptoed to the back, and sure enough, there was a surprise.

"Lingniang, why are you hiding here?"

Yunling was somewhat dazed. How did this person find her? It was too outrageous. Could it be that he also had superpowers?

"Lingniang?"

"Oh, I'm thinking about something. This place is quiet and makes it easier to clear my mind. Young master, you don't need to worry about me. If you have something to do, you can leave now."

Seeing that she wouldn't even glance at him, Lu Yinghuai knew she held a grudge from last time, so he quickly explained:

"Thank you for what happened last time, Lingniang. I can't hold my liquor. I get dizzy after a little wine and don't know what happened. It was Uncle Cao who told me that I ran to Lingniang's shop and was carried out by her. I was really out of line."

Yunling glanced quickly at Lu Yinghuai, then looked down at her shoes. If he was really drunk, would his words still be considered true? Some say that people speak the truth when they are drunk, but others say that people talk nonsense when they are drunk. In such matters, if it is the truth, it is very true; if it is a lie, it is very false.

Yunling was almost confused by herself. She didn't know why she was so concerned about whether Lu Yinghuai's words were true or false. Lingniang, maybe he was calling someone else. There are so many homophones, why did it have to be her?

"It's nothing serious. It's just that the young master is lucky to have met me. If he had been drunk and accidentally wandered into another young lady's house, I'm afraid I would be attending the young master's wedding banquet today."

Lu Yinghuai was overjoyed; his heart was pounding so hard it felt like it would jump out of his chest. Yun Ling's words clearly showed she cared about him and was secretly jealous.

Yunling sensed that this person's emotions had suddenly surged, just like a peacock about to spread its tail feathers. It was only the beginning of autumn, and even the monkeys in the trees weren't as excited as him. She didn't know what he was so excited about. Could it be that the wedding banquet she had mentioned had excited him?

But since this person wasn't leaving, she couldn't get anything done, so she had to speak again:

"Does the young master have anything else to say? I need to think about something, so..."

"Since Lingniang is busy, I'll be going now. Goodbye."

Goodbye?

Who wants to see him again?

She...she...she has a lot of important things to do.

Yunling silently berated him in her heart, but still smiled and nodded at Lu Yinghuai on the surface.

Lu Yinghuai indeed got into the carriage and left.

As Yunling watched the figure recede into the distance, she breathed a long sigh of relief. She adjusted her hat and walked towards the warehouse ahead.

Having transported cotton twice in these two towns, Yunling knew Uncle Feng, the manager of the warehouse, so she decided to investigate him.

"Uncle Feng."

"Hey buddy's here again, how much cotton did you bring this time?"

"There's no cotton this time. I wanted to ask you something, Uncle. I wonder if you could do me that favor?"

Seeing that Yunling wasn't there to rent a storage room, Uncle Feng picked up his work and, while doing the accounting, replied:

“Brother, just tell me what you think is right. If it’s something I can do, I will definitely do it.”

Yunling stepped over the threshold and entered the house, asking softly:

"I'm planning to go to Bianjing in the next few days and would like to travel with a merchant caravan. I wonder if you have any connections in that area?"

"Bianjing?" Uncle Feng paused, frowned, then turned to look into the house and shouted, "Old rascal, are you going to Bianjing the day after tomorrow?"

"Yeah, what are you up to, you old rogue? I can't bring back any of the young ladies in Bianjing City for you, or I'll be locked up in jail."

"Go to hell! If my wife hears this nonsense, she'll tear my belt off and use that tiny knife to shave my hair."

A burst of laughter erupted from inside the room, followed by a middle-aged man with a bare chest and dark skin who came out. He had intended to make some jokes, but upon seeing Yun Ling, he had no choice but to suppress his thoughts.

Uncle Feng saw people come out and exclaimed:

“Brother, this old rogue is the one who’s going to Bianjing the day after tomorrow. If you have any questions, you can ask him. Old rogue, this brother wants to go to Bianjing with the caravan. I’ll see if it’s possible. You can talk to him face to face, so I don’t have to go back and forth and waste my time.”

Yunling clasped her hands in a fist and bowed to the old rogue, about to greet him, when the old rogue spoke first.

"Go to Bianjing? What are you going to Bianjing for? With your small frame, if there's anything you want to buy, just let me know and I'll go and buy it for you. Bianjing is not an easy place to go. Not to mention the unpredictable weather on the road, who knows when you'll be back after the New Year."

Yunling smiled and said:

"Thank you for your kindness, Uncle Rogue, I..."

Before he could finish speaking, Uncle Feng burst into laughter, slapping his thigh, while the old rogue's face darkened.

"Hey, how can you talk like that, you pink-haired guy? This old rogue calls me an old scoundrel, so you just copy him and call me a scoundrel too. Why don't you just call him Uncle Rogue?"

Yunling rubbed her hands together a little embarrassedly. She didn't know what had happened just now. Perhaps she had been hearing Uncle Feng say things like "old rascal, old rascal" and so on, and the word "rascal" just came out of her mouth naturally.

"I'm so sorry, may I ask how to address you, Uncle?"

“My surname is Pi, and people in my hometown call me Pi Zai.”

Pizi? Thug? That's pretty much it, but this person's words are a little different. Pink Sausage Head? Is this referring to her? How unique.

"Uncle Pi, I'm going to Bianjing to discuss business, so I have to go there in person. I just don't know what kind of business you're in?"

Pizi grabbed a tattered, yellowed handkerchief from the shelf, casually wiped it across his face, and replied indifferently:

"He's just a stinky groceries vendor. He sells all sorts of things: trinkets woven by women, things picked up from the river or sea, things that fell from trees, things that are free."

"Being able to sell groceries takes skill, but I wonder if Uncle could give me a ride?"

"You're really going? Just by yourself?"

Yunling thought for a moment. Bianjing was a place she didn't know well, and it would be inconvenient to get around without connections. Tang Ling had been to Bianjing before, so she could bring her along, as well as Gangzi. Gangzi knew how to crack jokes and could solve a lot of trouble. And... that shouldn't be all.

"Can I bring two or three more people with me?"
