In such a dark environment, how could Yunling see clearly, yet walk as if on flat ground?
Yunling first anticipated what Lu Yinghuai would think, and then, as if someone had blindfolded her, she groped her way forward.
Where is the young master?
"I'm right here at the door, but I smell bad, so you'd better not get too close."
"The way you're talking makes it sound like the time you threw up on the boat last time didn't smell bad. You can rest assured, as long as you're in trouble, no matter if you crawl out of a latrine or whatever, I'll save you."
With Yunling's words, Lu Yinghuai felt very at ease. Although Yunling had a bit of a temper and would get angry with him or step on his feet, she would become the gentlest person in the world when he was sick, coaxing him like a three-year-old child.
Yunling moved with the agility of a juggler, flailing her arms and legs in the darkness. It took her a while to reach Lu Yinghuai's side, grasp his wrist, and calmly take his pulse.
"Luckily, you ate a lot of food at the Zhouqiao Bridge, otherwise, with so many bowel movements, given your stomach and intestines, you would probably have fainted long ago."
"You wait here for now. I'll go find that three-inch-tall guy and get some silver needles to stop the diarrhea. Then you can have a bowl of warm millet porridge."
Lu Yinghuai forced himself to suppress the rising pain in his abdomen and nodded.
Yunling hurriedly ran to the front yard. Fortunately, there were candles to light the way. She saw Tang Ling strolling around and told her to cook millet porridge before running to Lu Yinghuai's room.
The moment Pei Lin saw Yun Ling, he excitedly jumped off the bed. Just as he was about to tease her about Lu Yinghuai, he saw her unpack his bundle, take out the set of silver needles wrapped inside, and run out.
"Hey, you little bug, do you think I'm dead?"
Pei Lin reached out to snatch the silver needles, but Yun Ling slapped him instead.
"I'll borrow your silver needles for a while, and I'll return them to you soon."
"No, I never lend my silver needles."
"Just pretend I'm not human."
After saying that, Yunling ran out. When she ran back to the backyard, Lu Yinghuai came out of the outhouse again, walking with an air of nonchalance, as if he was about to collapse at any moment.
Yunling quickly grabbed his hand, transferring all his weight onto her shoulders, and carried him back to her room.
Pei Lin followed closely behind, and when he saw that Yun Ling's room was dark, he quickly uncovered the lantern by the roadside, took out the candle wick, and went inside.
Taking advantage of the light, Yunling removed Lu Yinghuai's outer garment, shoes, and socks, leaving only his inner clothes. She laid his body flat and placed two hot water bottles next to his bare feet to keep them warm.
Yunling then rubbed her hands together to warm them, lifted her inner garment, and swept her palms across Lu Yinghuai's abdomen. Once the warmth spread, she pulled out silver needles and inserted them into his acupoints of Shenque, Tianshu, and Qihai. She then pulled his inner pants down a bit and inserted needles into his Guanyuan acupoint.
After a short while, Yunling pulled Lu Yinghuai's underpants up to his knees and inserted needles at Zusanli and Sanyinjiao points.
"Not bad, little bug. Your needlework is only slightly worse than mine. Why don't you learn from me for a couple of days? Even if you can't make a living in the future, you can still earn a living."
"Save your breath. With your mediocre skills, you dare to show off your amateurish abilities in front of an expert. If you really want to take on apprentices, you might as well catch a toad outside the outhouse. Anyway, you two are both ugly and full of wild ideas."
“Hey, you…”
Pei Lin was about to grab Yun Ling's little tuft of hair again, but it was late at night and her hair was disheveled, so he could only symbolically grab the end of her hair and tug it. Her hair had grown quite a bit and looked much better than when she was bald.
Yunling slapped the back of his hand again, then removed all the silver needles from Lu Yinghuai's body, and pushed him down to expose his back.
Yunling rubbed her hands together to warm them, then pressed them onto his Stomach Shu acupoint, and then along the Large Intestine Shu, Small Intestine Shu, Kidney Shu, Mingmen acupoint down to the coccyx.
"Hey, it's just a little bit of diarrhea on him. We've already given him an acupuncture to stop it. Why bother with all that other stuff?"
"It's not a waste of time. He's always had a weak stomach, and you've been up to no good. We need to help him digest his stomach."
"What does this have to do with me?"
Pei Lin was very unhappy. Although it was his doing, he was not happy that Yun Ling would blame him for it without even asking. Moreover, how did she know that Lu Yinghuai had a bad stomach? He didn't know, but she did.
What exactly did they do when he wasn't around?
Yunling knew this man's temperament, so she didn't pay much attention to him. After dressing Lu Yinghuai and covering him with a blanket, she went to the kitchen to see how Tang Ling was cooking the porridge.
Pei Lin was furious to see Yun Ling not turning her head and leaving the silver needles lying there unattended. He couldn't give up the needles, so he took the initiative to tidy them up. But while tidying them up, he still felt angry, so he secretly picked up a silver needle and quickly stabbed it into Lu Yinghuai's body to vent his anger.
Lu Yinghuai woke up after dawn. Tang Ling reheated the remaining half bowl of millet porridge that Zifu had shared and brought it over.
Seeing that Yunling was keeping watch, Pei Lin naturally couldn't leave her there alone, so he stayed as well. Now that he saw Lu Yinghuai had woken up, he patted Yunling's shoulder.
“Little bug, now that he’s awake and someone is taking care of him and feeding him porridge, let’s go out for breakfast. Hmm… have you ever had stuffed lung? If we have stuffed lung, we can also have some fragrant tea to relieve the fatigue from staying up all night.”
The millet porridge that Tang Ling brought had a simple, pleasant aroma. Yun Ling had been working hard all night and was naturally a little hungry. Now, hearing Pei Lin mention breakfast, including dishes she had never even heard of before, her slightly tired eyes immediately brightened.
"Lung irrigation? What kind of lungs are being irrigated?"
"It's naturally lamb lungs. There are spicy and non-spicy ones. Grind sesame seeds and almonds, mix them with flour, bean flour, meat juice, ginger juice, oil and salt, stir them together, stuff them into the lamb lungs, and steam them until cooked."
Yunling found it difficult to connect these mixed ingredients with sheep lungs, so she asked:
"Is this delicious?"
"It's meaty, chewy, and springy. It's usually eaten with mutton offal soup, but I prefer to pair it with fragrant tea to cut through the richness."
"But you just said it relieves fatigue, and now you're saying it cuts through greasiness. You've said it all."
Pei Lin scoffed at Yun Ling, looking at her as if she were an idiot.
"This fragrant tea is made from the tender buds of spring tea, combined with shelled and steamed mung beans, mashed yam, musk, and other Chinese medicinal herbs, all pounded into a fine powder. Wouldn't that relieve fatigue?"
"This tea is meant to cut through the greasiness of meat, isn't drinking tea a way to relieve the feeling of greasiness from meat dishes?"
Yunling was completely baffled; she didn't quite agree with Pei Lin's taste.
