Chapter 8: Division (I)
Jiang Xia was silent for a moment and then asked, "If we split up, where will we move to?"
Jiang Xia didn't want to stay, but others who traveled through time would at least receive the memories of the original owner, but she didn't.
No memory at all!
She didn't even know which direction the entrance to her parents' house was, so how could she get back to her parents' home? So Zhou Chenglei didn't give her a letter of introduction, so she had no choice but to stay.
"The old house was decades old and very dilapidated. It can't be compared with this house. Besides, that house is closer to the beach and it's a bit humid. I don't know if you can stand it." Zhou Chenglei told her the truth and let her choose, lest she couldn't stand it and made a fuss.
Jiang Xia didn't care, as long as he had a place to stay: "It doesn't matter to me."
Zhou Chenglei didn't think it mattered to her. She was not used to the new house, and she would probably be even more unbearable in the old house.
But if she can't stand it, she can go back to her parents' home.
"I'm going to talk to my parents about the division of the family property. You should go to bed early."
Then Zhou Chenglei went out.
After Zhou Chenglei went out, Jiang Xia waited until her hair was dry but he still didn't come back. He probably didn't come back to sleep. That was fine. After all, they were not familiar with each other, and it would be a bit awkward to sleep in the same bed. She closed the door, turned on the light and went to sleep.
In a daze, she felt someone come in, touch her forehead, and then leave.
People with fever tend to have relapses in the middle of the night. Zhou Chenglei was worried, so he came to check on her. When he saw that she no longer had a fever, he went back to his nephew's room and slept on the floor.
The next day, Jiang Xia was awakened by the crowing of a rooster. It was still dark, probably around 5:30, but she had gone to bed around 10 o'clock the night before, and she felt refreshed when she woke up.
There were whispers and some noises of work coming from outside. Jiang Xia didn't have the habit of staying in bed, so he got up and went out.
In the courtyard, Tian Caihua was shredding sweet potatoes and cooking sweet potato porridge. Seeing Jiang Xia getting up so early, she was stunned for a moment, then smiled and greeted: "Fourth brother's wife, you are getting up so early. You must be feeling unwell. You will feel better if you get some more sleep."
She was obviously in a good mood. She already knew that Zhou Chenglei wanted to split the family business, so she decided not to bother with Jiang Xia.
Zhou's mother was chopping vegetables to feed the chickens. Seeing Jiang Xia was upset and messing up the house, she still asked with concern, "Is the fever gone?"
The younger son said last night that he did not want a divorce but a separation. No matter how unhappy Zhou's mother was with Jiang Xia, she had to endure it, otherwise her son would be caught in the middle and suffer.
Her son joined the army when he was a teenager and was away for more than ten years. He went to the battlefield and survived many life-threatening situations. He didn't want to go home to suffer.
Others don't feel sorry for her son, but she does!
As long as Jiang Xia is willing to live a good life with her son in the future, she will tolerate any problems she has.
Who made my son reluctant to divorce?
When others speak, it is out of concern. Jiang Xia is not an ungrateful person. He greeted them with a smile: "It's retired, Mom, don't worry. What's your sister-in-law making for breakfast? Let me make it!"
It still feels a bit unnatural to call Zhou's mother "Mom", but since I can't get a divorce for the time being, I have to call her that even if I'm not used to it.
When Zhou's mother heard this, she said, "You don't have to do anything. If you don't make trouble, I will pray for you. Good luck!"
The resentment towards her came out unconsciously.
Jiang Xia: “…”
Tian Caihua also felt that Jiang Xia would not do it and was just talking. However, they were about to separate and after today's work, she would not have to serve him anymore, so there was no need to make a fuss about it.
She was in a good mood today and said with a smile, "No, no, it's almost done. I'll put the sweet potatoes in the porridge and boil it for a while, and then we can eat it. Go wash your face!"
Tian Caihua neatly poured the shredded sweet potato into the porridge simmering on the small stove, pushed a little more firewood in, increased the fire, and cooked the porridge quickly.
You can have breakfast after cooking it, and then you can separate after breakfast.
Jiang Xia went to wash his face and brush his teeth. Just as he finished brushing his teeth and washing his face, Zhou Chenglei came back from outside, covered in sweat, obviously from a run.
Zhou Chenglei was obviously startled when he saw Jiang Xia getting up so early, and subconsciously asked, "Why are you up so early? Are you feeling dizzy? Don't you have a fever yet?"
Jiang Xia had never experienced such a feeling before, receiving care and concern one after another early in the morning. Even though she knew that the other party was not sincere, she still felt a little warm and smiled, "It's okay, much better."
Seeing that her complexion had become rosy, Zhou Chenglei said nothing more. He fetched two buckets of water and went to take a shower and brush his teeth.
The porridge was not cooked so quickly, Jiang Xia helped Zhou's mother chop sweet potato leaves and asked her if they were for feeding the chickens.
At first, Zhou's mother was afraid that she would chop off her hand, but when she saw that she chopped it off quickly and well, she was quite surprised, "No, I'm going to cook it for the pig later."

"Oh, does the pig food need to be cooked?"
Seeing that Jiang Xia was interested, Zhou's mother started talking to her and taught her some things.
Her son and she moved out separately, so she understood more and her son felt more relaxed.
Then Jiang Xia learned that the Zhou family raised three big fat pigs, a cow, a dozen chickens and ducks, and a group of chicks that had just hatched ten days ago.
Pigs need to be fed, and cows can be let out to graze. This job is usually done by children in the family. Ducks can be driven to the beach and they will find small fish and shrimps to eat. You can drive them back in time. Chickens can also be released to the bamboo forest in the morning to find food on their own, but they still need to be fed at night.
Young chickens need to be taken care of carefully, and they should be fed with rice. If they are fed with vegetable leaves, they should be chopped up. When they grow up, they can be taken out foraging by the mother hen. No one steals them, and every household does this. All you need to do is mark the chickens, geese, and ducks, for example, by cutting off their tails or a tuft of hair on their heads, or tying their feet with ropes.
After the two of them cut a bunch of sweet potato vines, Jiang Xia cleaned the yard, and the porridge was ready, so they could have breakfast.
There was only sweet potato porridge for breakfast, but it was delicious, with the sweetness and softness of sweet potatoes and the salty fragrance of dried shrimps. Jiang Xia ate two bowls.
After breakfast, Guangzongyaozu and little Zhouzhou carried their schoolbags and walked to school. Zhou's father called the whole family to the living room and talked about dividing the family property.
"You brothers have all started families, so it's time to separate. The second brother bought a house in town a while ago and was the first one to be separated. When he bought the house, your mother and I contributed 2,000 yuan. We agreed at that time that the house would have nothing to do with them after the family division."
Tian Caihua pursed her lips. Why was she dissatisfied? It was because of this matter! She and Zhou Chengxin were uneducated and unemployed. Zhou Chenglei could have worked in the town government after he retired from the army, but he refused to do it. Not only did he refuse to do it, but he actually gave the job opportunity to the second brother, not caring about the eldest brother who was still fishing at home.
The second brother was a cadre in the brigade at the time and already had a job!
Why didn't Zhou Chenglei give the job to his elder brother? Did he look down on his elder brother for only graduating from elementary school?
Then Zhou Chenglei married Jiang Xia and she didn't do any housework. She cooked for the whole family, took care of the old and took care of the couple. Why did she not get any benefits and still serve the couple? Zhou's father continued: "Chenglei said this new house is for Chengxin, he and Jiang Xia will move to the old house."
