Xing Yuan didn't think his words were harsh. This girl was not a normal child, and they didn't need to treat her with a normal attitude.
Just as I was about to say something, there was another noise at the door.
Aunt Lin came in with a few people. Her eyes fell on the corpse on the ground. She curled the corners of her mouth, sneered with ambiguous meaning, and waved her hand.
Several people behind him immediately rushed out and skillfully carried the body, then took out tools and began to wipe the blood on the ground.
Looking at the crowd gathered around her, she stood there and said calmly: "Go and get busy. Don't let me find out that someone is gossiping behind my back, okay?"
As soon as the words came out, the surrounding discussions disappeared instantly, and those people said in unison: "Got it."
After restoring the cafeteria to its original state, Aunt Lin slowly glanced at the three people standing in the corner. Her eyes fell on the little girl's obviously unhappy face, and her brows raised silently.
"You two follow me."
Then, she looked at the little girl again and said softly, "Baby, you stay here and play with the other aunties. Don't run around, okay?"
The little girl nodded obediently: "Okay, Aunt Lin."
When Jiang Xi and his group left, the smile on her face instantly faded.
He glanced at the woman following behind him, his eyes flashing red.
"You stay here."
The other person's eyes gradually lost focus, and he said respectfully: "Yes."
The little girl turned and walked out of the cafeteria. As she stepped out of the door, she heard a woman's laughter suddenly.
"It seems that I am late and the show is over."
A familiar scent entered her nose, and she was slightly stunned. She raised her head suddenly and was met with a pair of smiling fox eyes.
The woman leaned lazily against the wall, lowered her head and smiled slightly:
"But I have a new play, do you want to act in it?"
The little girl stared at the face in front of her. After a few seconds of silence, she slowly smiled brightly, a hint of red flashed in her eyes, and tilted her head and asked innocently, "What's in it for me?"
“Benefits…”
The woman touched her chin as if thinking for a few seconds, then slowly squatted down, propped up her chin, tilted her head like the little girl, and said with a smile:
"Is it a good thing for me to take you away from here?"
…
In the dean's office.
When he entered the room, he saw Limu and Bai Jingmo were already inside. Jiang Xi hesitated for a moment, then sat down next to Hou Liang.
"Why did she call you over here?"
Hou Liang shook his head and answered in a low voice: "I don't know. I only found out that Bai Jingmo was here after I arrived."
Hearing this, Jiang Xi subconsciously looked at the man opposite him.
The other person was leaning casually on the sofa, with his long legs crossed, and he was looking down at the newspaper he had picked up from the table. His bony fingertips were white, and his noble temperament was clearly visible.
For some reason, Jiang Xi had the illusion that he was interviewing at the Baijingmo Company.
She shook her head, quickly getting rid of this weird thought, and then Aunt Lin's voice rang in her ears.
"Now that everyone is here, I won't waste your time with any polite words."
She sat in her office chair, crossed her arms, and spoke in her usual cold tone: "I know that you all came here to find your childhood. This is not the first time I have met volunteers like you. If I could see the children happy, I would be happy, but this is not the case."
She stood up and pressed a button inside the window.
The sound of machines running filled the air, and the cabinet behind her slowly opened, from which a brutal roar could be heard faintly.
When the cabinet was fully opened, everyone was shocked.
I saw a two-meter-high iron cage hidden behind the cabinet, and a man was locked in the cage.
The man was covered in blood, his red vest was patchy, the smell of blood couldn't be covered up, his face was distorted, and a tearing roar came from his throat.
The man tried to pry open the iron cage. His palms were bloody from being rubbed by the rust, but he seemed not to feel any pain. He continued to pry open the iron bars, with a fierce green light in his eyes like that of a wild beast.
If Yu Li were here, she would recognize this man as the one who tried to hurt her yesterday.
Aunt Lin glanced at the man's intact neck and thought to herself that he really had a strong self-healing ability. He could still survive even after his neck was cut off by Yu Li.
How can that monster tamper with memory? I can only create this kind of monster.
Looking at the dull eyes of the people opposite her, she spoke calmly, lying without blushing or beating her heart:
"See? This is what will happen to you in the end. Once you are completely replaced by the children, you will become like this."
Jiang Xi's pupils shrank: "How is it possible..."
But when she saw the man wearing the same volunteer vest as hers, she couldn't say anything to refute.
Aunt Lin closed the cabinet door and turned to look at them:
"Why is this impossible? I don't know why you must find those children, but for me, you will also bring trouble to my orphanage. I must stop you."
As she spoke, she picked up the drawing paper on the table, put it on the coffee table and pushed it to them.
"Some kids handed me some drawing paper this morning, and they had already drawn what you look like."
After hearing this, several people remained silent, but they all fell into deep thought.
The task previously issued by the system was to find your childhood self and successfully escape from the orphanage.
Does this successful escape mean escaping from these children?
But why should we let them find it?
Jiang Xi frowned, feeling that something was wrong.
