Chapter 209 Pregnancy Blunder

Jiang Tangtang blinked, looking at the little guy with a shocked expression.

"Mother, Brother Xie has taught me to recognize all these, can you teach me another one?" Lu Chenyan pulled out another book and handed it to Jiang Tangtang, looking at her expectantly.

The little guy has gained a bit of weight recently; his face looks chubby, his eyes are big and round with shiny black pupils, and his eyelashes are like little brushes, fluttering when he talks.

She looks absolutely adorable.

Jiang Tangtang's heart melted at the sight of this little cub.

She unconsciously softened her voice, reached out and touched the little boy's head, saying, "So it was Brother Xie who taught you! My little Yan is really amazing."

The little guy's eyes lit up even more when praised by his mother.

Jiang Tangtang began teaching Lu Chenyan to recognize the characters in the book.

It must be said that Lu Chenyan is a very intelligent child. Jiang Tangtang only needs to read the words in the book once for him to memorize them. Teaching him to read is a real pleasure.

The afternoon passed in the blink of an eye.

As dinner time was approaching, Jiang Tangtang told Lu Chenyan to go play with the other children and then went to the makeshift stove outside.

The earthen village building is now mostly completed.

After the last rain, the villagers approached Village Chief Song, hoping to move into the newly built houses ahead of schedule.

Jiang Tangtang wasn't in the valley at the time. After thinking it over on his own, Village Chief Song agreed to the villagers' request.

However, it should be agreed in advance that everyone should take good care of the house, and that several families should live together in close proximity without any conflicts.

Although conflicts often arise among the villagers, after going through so much, their relationship is naturally much closer than before. Besides, the houses will be allocated by lottery, so who knows if they might draw a family member's number.

So even without Village Chief Song's reminder, the villagers would take good care of their houses.

Everyone set up temporary stoves in the open space outside to cook. This way, they didn't have to worry about the walls inside getting blackened by smoke.

Everyone cherished the house, and since everyone had found a few families with whom they had a good relationship to live together, no conflicts arose despite the temporary cramped living arrangements.

The Lu family lived in the same house as the Jiang family. However, the two families had different numbers of people and different circumstances. So, although they lived together, they cooked separately.

The Lu and Jiang families each built a stove, which was close to each other. At this moment, Zhou Qiongniang and Jiang's sister-in-law Cai Chunrong were cooking at the makeshift stove.

Upon seeing Jiang Tangtang, the two greeted her with smiles.

As usual, Zhou Qiongniang liked to ask Jiang Tangtang's opinion on food. "A couple of days ago, we borrowed a stone mill from the Li family and ground some mixed grain flour. I'm planning to make mixed grain pancakes tonight, is that alright?"

The stone mill was very heavy, and the Li family originally planned not to move it when they moved. It was Jiang Tangtang who told the Li family not to worry about the weight, that her husband could carry even the heaviest things smoothly into the valley.

After receiving Jiang Tangtang's words, the Li family finally packed up the stone mill and put it into the luggage they were moving.

There was no stone mill in the valley. The villagers had originally planned to find a way to make one after the houses were built.

Now that the Li family has their stone mill, their urgent problem has been solved. However, they are not using the Li family's stone mill for nothing.

The villagers who borrowed the stone mill from the Li family would always take time to work for the Li family in return for the favor.

Jiang Tangtang smiled and said, "Sure, but could you make a little more? I'd like to send two over to Zi'ang later."

Xie Ziang had helped take care of Lu Chenyan while she was away from the valley, so of course he wanted to thank him with something.

“Okay, I’ll make some.” Anyway, the grain was all brought back by Jiang Tangtang and Lu Shiyan, and the whole family or even the whole valley benefited from their efforts, so Zhou Qiongniang had no objection to it.

As she responded to Jiang Tangtang's words, she quickly added two bowls of mixed grain powder to the basin. At this moment, Cai Chunrong brought over a plate of food for Jiang Tangtang, saying, "Little sister, have some."

"What is this? A shrimp?"

Cai Chunrong coated the dough with batter, added a little oil, and slowly fried it. Jiang Tangtang couldn't tell what was on the plate, but it smelled delicious, so she took one and put it in her mouth.

I thought it tasted pretty good and crispy, so I took a few more to eat.

Cai Chunrong was pleased to see that she liked the food. "These are dragonflies that some naughty kids caught in the river. Aren't they delicious?"

Jiang Tangtang's eyes widened instantly, and she almost vomited.

Water dragonfly? Isn't that a dragonfly nymph?

Isn't that just an insect?

She used to scream for ages if she encountered a single nymph while playing in the river. But now, she's actually eaten several.

Jiang Tang couldn't hold it in any longer and gagged.

"Little sister, are you pregnant again?" Cai Chunrong really didn't know that Jiang Tangtang was afraid of insects.

She was genuinely grateful to her younger sister, and thinking that there wasn't much good food at home, she gave Jiang Tangtang the snacks the children had made.

In her eyes, this was a delicacy. She was so tempted while making it that her mouth watered, but she couldn't bear to eat a single piece.

Little did they expect that Jiang Tangtang would feel nauseous and want to vomit after learning that the food was insects.

Seeing Jiang Tangtang vomit twice but not deny her words, she happily went out to announce the good news, "Mother, Mother, my youngest sister is pregnant again! She's given birth again!"

Su had just returned from outside carrying a hoe when she heard this and was overjoyed, exclaiming repeatedly, "Sister-in-law, are you sure you're not mistaken? My third daughter-in-law is pregnant again?"

Cai Chunrong smiled broadly and said repeatedly, "I've got it! My little sister is having morning sickness right now! She's vomiting so much, it would be best to pick some sour fruit for her to calm down."

Jiang Tangtang clutched her chest, and before she could even utter an explanation, Su Shi had already dropped her hoe and run off like the wind.

Since giving birth to Lu Chenyan, the third daughter-in-law's belly had remained flat. Now, thanks to divine intervention, her son has become a high-ranking official. Madam Su felt that Jiang Tangtang's pregnancy was extremely auspicious.

Such a great thing should of course be shared with the third son.

So she turned around and told Old Man Lu the news, asking him to go to the mountains to pick wild fruit. She also found Xiong Zhuang and asked him to deliver a message to Lu Shiyan, saying that Jiang Tangtang was pregnant.

This was great news, and Xiong Zhuang didn't think much of it. He turned around and left the valley to tell Lu Shiyan the good news.

Lu Shiyan, upon receiving the message: "..."

He was completely bewildered, unable to understand how his wife had gotten pregnant despite his restraint, which made him feel so aroused.

Xiong Zhuang couldn't understand his bewilderment and continued to congratulate him with a cheerful expression.

Like Xiong Zhuang, a group of villagers from Dawancun also offered similar words of congratulations.

However, the person being addressed was not Lu Shiyan, but Jiang Tangtang.

Jiang Tangtang, looking at everyone's happy smiles, the brothers next to her discussing making cradles for their children, and Su Shi discussing making baby clothes for her children with her wives, had a very magical and unreal feeling.

She was just feeling nauseous after eating insects and was only a few seconds late in explaining. How did it become a rumor that she's pregnant?

Also, why do people all have such festive expressions, like it's Chinese New Year?

Seeing everyone so happy, she felt a little awkward about speaking.

Everyone was so happy, and then she suddenly said she wasn't pregnant. Wasn't that a real disappointment?
