Chapter 17 The Dove Incident

Out of consideration for the dove, Jiang Tangtang diligently led the way for the entire afternoon.

The people of Dawan Village followed behind, unaware of the situation, assuming that the Lu family knew something.

Old Man Lu and Madam Su didn't say much.

Although there were a few people in the village who liked to take advantage of others, both Old Man Lu and Mrs. Su felt that it was safer for the people of the village to travel together.

And so the group walked until nightfall before finally stopping at the foot of a mountain.

As soon as the group stopped, Luo Taohua rushed to Jiang Tangtang's side, her eyes fixed on the dove in Jiang Tangtang's hand. "Third sister-in-law, you're not going to kill the dove, are you? Do you want me to help you?"

Jiang Tangtang turned her neck with difficulty; the bumpy ride had really exhausted her.

She turned her neck around and around until it felt more relaxed, then looked at Luo Taohua and said, "Just to help me kill the turtledoves?"

Would she really be that kind?

"Third sister-in-law, we're all family. What are you saying?" Luo Taohua said with a matter-of-fact expression. "We're family, so of course we should eat together. Do you expect to eat alone?"

“My sister-in-law even eats the few grass roots she picks from the mountain all by herself, but when it comes to us, we’re family and we have to share everything?”

She had clearly heard Luo Taohua and Zhou Qiongniang arguing at noon.

At the time, she just treated it as listening to a story to pass the time while traveling to ancient times. Their arguments had nothing to do with her.

But you can't try to take advantage of her.

Seeing that Luo Taohua had run into a brick wall, Zhou Qiongniang felt a surge of satisfaction. "That's right, sister-in-law, didn't you say at noon that you could go up the mountain and find whatever you wanted to eat? Why didn't you go?"

Luo Taohua was furious. "I don't believe you won't eat the pigeon when it's cooked later."

Zhou Qiongniang certainly wanted to eat it, but to spite Luo Taohua, she said righteously, "Sister-in-law, it would be fine under normal circumstances. But our third brother is still sick, and it wasn't easy for Doctor Li to find a turtledove. You actually want to share it with him? Did you even ask Doctor Li?"

Luo Taohua was suddenly at a loss for words.

If Lu Shiyan or Jiang Tangtang caught this dove themselves, she has a way to get her to take it out.

But this isn't it; it was Li Shi who found it.

At this moment, all she felt was resentment that Lu Shiyan was injured. If only she hadn't been hurt, he would have been the one to hunt down the dove.

Without wasting a single drop of saliva, the two began to fight, and Jiang Tangtang was very satisfied with taking down the two men who were holding the turtledoves in her arms in one fell swoop.

However, like Luo Taohua, there were quite a few people eyeing the dove in her hand.

How can I keep the dove in my hands?

Jiang Tangtang's gaze slid back and forth between Lu Shiyan and Li Shi, pondering what to do next.

But the more I thought about it, the more wronged I felt.

What did she want to eat before?

But now, she's going to great lengths for a skinny, bony dove. How unlucky she is!

Waaaaah...

Lu Shiyan felt a sharp pain in his heart. He slowly opened his eyes and saw the woman opposite him crying again.

He had a bit of a headache, not understanding why mortal women cried so much.

"Why are you crying?" Pressing his increasingly painful heart, Lu Shiyan resignedly spoke.

Jiang Tangtang pouted, looking aggrieved, "I won't kill the turtledove."

“What’s so difficult about that?” Lu Shiyan slowly rolled up his sleeves and held out his hand to her, saying, “Give it to me.”

Although she had just cried, Jiang Tangtang couldn't help but whistle in her heart as she watched his pleasing movements and his fair, slender fingers.

He truly lives up to his reputation as a Celestial Lord descended from the Ninth Heaven; even the simple act of rolling up his sleeves is so graceful.

For a moment, she was stunned, her lustful nature taking over.

Lu Shiyan took the dove directly from her hand and got off the oxcart.

Watching him steadily walk to a bamboo grove that was mostly withered, Jiang Tangtang realized that he had to be helped off the oxcart at noon, but in just one afternoon, he was able to get off and walk on his own.

He's definitely practicing immortal cultivation techniques, awesome!

Jiang Tangtang quickly jumped off the oxcart and followed.

Seeing Jiang Tangtang approach, Lu Shiyan's brows relaxed slightly. He had only been thinking about stopping her from crying and had forgotten that they were in the lower realm.

The spiritual energy here is thin, and he only cultivated for an afternoon. Although he can walk without anyone's help now, he still can't cut bamboo without external assistance.

Seeing Jiang Tangtang approach, Lu Shiyan turned around and asked, "Do you have a knife?"

"Yes, I'll go get it for you." There was a sharp knife in the original owner's bundle, which was used by the original owner's father to slaughter pigs.

Before fleeing the famine, the original owner's mother specially sent it over for the original owner to use for self-defense.

However, the original owner was timid and never used it.

Jiang Tangtang quickly took the knife and handed it to Lu Shiyan.

Lu Shiyan took the knife and brandished it in his hand a couple of times, seemingly getting used to the knife.

Then, Jiang Tangtang saw him easily cut down several large bamboo stalks as if they were tofu.

The commotion they made quickly alerted the villagers of Dawancun.

"Is that Lu Sanlang?"

"Didn't you say you were injured? Why did you go cut bamboo?"

"The injury may not be serious."

...

Amidst the murmurs, a cold laugh suddenly rang out, "That old couple from the Lu family have always been cunning. They deliberately made their son, who was clearly only slightly injured, appear to be seriously ill. Don't you all understand what they're up to?"

Wang Ergou was a local scoundrel who had long had his eye on Jiang Tangtang, the delicate young wife, and the Lu family's ox that pulled the cart.

I was originally thinking that since Lu Sanlang was injured, I would find an opportunity tonight to sleep with that delicate little wife and Da Niu.

I didn't expect that Lu Sanlang's injury was a complete fabrication.

Seeing that his secret plan had failed, Wang Ergou was even more furious. He decided to go all out and, inciting everyone's anger, said that they would divide the cow among themselves first.

If Lu Sanlang hadn't been injured, he wouldn't have been able to defeat the enemy by himself, but how could so many villagers have the same idea as him?

The scene fell silent instantly.

After fleeing for so long, many families have run out of food and will starve to death if they don't find a way to survive.

At this point, it's hard not to have malicious thoughts.

Like the villagers of Dawan Village, the Lu family also noticed the commotion on Lu Shiyan's side.

Lu Shiwang exclaimed sincerely, "Third Brother's kung fu seems to have improved again!"

Luo Taohua was already angry because Jiang Tangtang refused to share the dove with her. Hearing her husband's words, she pouted and said, "What's the use of improving? It's not your skill."

After scolding her husband, she suddenly remembered something, glared at him hatefully, and said, "You're the only stupid one in the whole family. Look at your third brother, he knows to pretend to be sick so that his wife can get food. But you, you're like a block of wood, stupidly handing everything over to your mother. You're going to starve your son and daughter-in-law to death."

Lu Shiwang felt a little guilty for making his wife and children suffer with him, but he still argued, "Where is Third Brother faking illness? You saw how serious his injuries were yesterday."
