Like a fishbone stuck in the throat
Wei Shao stayed in the hotel for two nights and stayed in the office during the day. The male insects in the office went to work depending on their mood, and most of the insects he could see were females.
So they were a little puzzled.
Although Wei Shao came frequently before, he would go home on time every day, and sometimes he would call his queen at home, Admiral Philo, from the office.
But for some reason these days, Wei Shao always stayed at his post for the whole day. He still answered calls, but from his tone, he seemed to be talking to friends or classmates, not to Admiral Philo.
Sometimes, Wei Shao would hang up some calls with an expressionless face, and then for the next half hour, no matter who spoke to him, they would be ignored.
This was a rare thing for Wei Shao, who was known for his polite personality.
Then some rumors began to circulate in the office, saying that the relationship between the new Deputy Director Wei and his wife, General Philo, was in crisis.
In fact, this statement is quite fresh. After all, they have long been accustomed to facing the cold face of their own master, so naturally there is no question of crisis.
Only a gentle and considerate male insect like Wei Shao could cause them to discuss endlessly if he suddenly changed his attitude.
The married female insects were just gossiping, but the unmarried female insects had some ideas.
At noon that day, Wei Shao was leaning back in his work chair to rest when he suddenly felt a blanket on his body.
He woke up lightly and opened his eyes immediately.
The one who covered him with the blanket was the new female Talia, who was introverted.
Wei Shao had placed the blanket in his office himself. Talia was holding documents in her hands, and she knew at a glance that she had something to ask him, so she covered him with the blanket when she saw him sleeping.
Wei Shao originally wanted to remind him not to enter the office without knocking, but thinking of his usual timid and submissive appearance, he simply gave up.
He rubbed his brows: "What's the matter?"
Talia said softly, "The arrangement for organizing the archive room you mentioned last time has been made. This is the progress."
Wei Shao thought that if he really took it seriously, the old guys above would keep an eye on him, so he waved his hand and said nonchalantly, "Just do whatever you want."
After saying this, Talia could have gone out, but he didn't. Instead, he stayed where he was and asked softly, "Sir, I just cleaned the lounge. There is a soft bed there. Do you want to go and rest for a while?"
Wei Shao looked at him in surprise.
Only then did he notice that Talia was different today. Usually, for convenience, Talia's waist-length hair was tied behind her head with a rubber band, but today she pinned it up with a hairpin. The tassels on the hairpin hung down to the side of the waist, and the crystal at the end swayed gently.
Talia seemed to notice Wei Shao's gaze, pursed her lips again, and smiled faintly at Wei Shao.
Wei Shao saw the smile, retracted his gaze, and said in a colder voice: "If you have nothing to do, you can go first--"
"Mr. Deputy Director," there was a gentle knock on the office door, "your mistress is waiting outside and wants to see you."
Wei Shao tightened his jaw and said, "Tell him I'm not here and let him go back."
He didn't want to see Philo at all now.
His father was a habitual adulterer, and before his mother divorced him, the most common thing she did was to yell at his father hysterically after getting evidence from a private detective.
Sometimes his dad apologizes, sometimes he doesn't.
In short, they are all ugly.
Wei Shao didn't want to show that kind of ugly appearance, it was too ugly.
Philo didn't cheat, at most -
I don't love him that much.
Wei Shao threw the documents aside expressionlessly and said to Talia, "Take me to the lounge."
His head hurts and he wants to sleep.
The subordinate quickly went out to report. Wei Shao and Talia walked a few steps side by side. Suddenly, a hoarse voice sounded behind them: "Wei Shao."
Wei Shao paused, he didn't look back, but he didn't move either.
Talia looked at him, then looked back at Philo, whose lips were tightly pursed, and finally reminded him gently: "Mr. Deputy Director, your..."
"I know." Wei Shao did not ask him to leave. He turned around calmly and looked at Fei Luo, "Why are you here?"
The tone was so cold, even colder than when they first met, that there was a hint of disbelief in Philo's light-colored eyes.
The hand at his side clenched into a fist: "...You haven't been home in two days."
"Oh, busy." Wei Shao shifted his gaze and stopped looking at his face. "Is there anything else? If not, go home first."
"Wei Shao..."
Talia suddenly said softly: "Admiral, although the deputy director is gentle and tolerant, it is inappropriate for you to call him by his name... "
Philo's lips parted and then gently closed, and he glanced at Talia with a cold and warning look.
Talia was frightened by the cold gaze and trembled for a moment, only to realize slowly that this God of Death would only show that pleading look in front of Wei Shao, and would not forgive any insect that provoked him.
Wei Shao suddenly said, "Okay, stop scaring him."
As Filo's eyes grew redder, Wei Shao almost felt a sense of revenge in his heart.
He frowned and said to Talia: "You go back first, we have something to talk about."
These words had completely different meanings to Thalia and Philo.
Philo dug his nails deep into his flesh because of his tone, which was almost like a report on the itinerary.
Talia's heart sank when she heard the word "we".
His mind moved, and he said to Wei Shao in a voice that was almost whispering, "Then, sir, I will leave first. I have already prepared the soothing tea in the lounge."
After he left, Wei Shao moved his lips as if he wanted to say something, and Philo looked at him without blinking, waiting for him to speak.
"It's not convenient here, let's go to the lounge to talk."
However, Wei Shao only left this sentence.
Philo took two deep breaths, lowered his head and followed.
There is a very light scent in the lounge.
It smells the same as that sub-female, Philo thought.
Wei Shao locked the door and then looked at Fei Luo. There were heavy bruises under Fei Luo's eyes, probably because he hadn't had enough rest in the past two days.
"Sit down." He pulled out a chair from the water table and said to Philo calmly, "Say what you want to say first."
Philo didn't sit down, but looked at him stubbornly: "Why don't you go home?"
“Why don’t you reply to the message?”
"Why aren't you answering the call?"
"Why..." When he asked the last sentence, Philo's voice was already unstable, "Why are you hiding from me?"
Wei Shao did not pour the pot of soothing tea, but took two cups of water, pushed one cup to the other side, and took a sip of the other cup himself:
"Why are you calling me brother in my bed?"
He listened to the sound of his own words and thought to himself, what an unpleasant question, Wei Shao.
There were so many ways to find out everything in a tactful and respectable way. He could even use some less glorious methods to find out, just like his mother had done before.
But he still chose to use the method that was most likely to embarrass both of them and to break up the relationship.
"You don't have a biological brother, right? Who do you call brother?" Wei Shao asked calmly.
Philo's lips trembled.
Wei Shao smiled and said, "If I were forty years old this year, I could still ask you if you were calling me."
"Wei Shao, I——"
"Don't rush to explain. I didn't say anything." Wei Shao's eyebrows seemed to be covered with a layer of gloomy and heavy clouds, but his tone was flat. "Fei Luo, I won't say anything about the previous part. I just want to ask you one question. Is the brother you are talking about a male or female insect?"
He stared at Philo: "Don't lie to me."
Fei Luo closed his eyes painfully: "It's really not, Wei Shao——"
Wei Shao looked at him coldly: "Answer my question."
Feiluo lowered his head in embarrassment, and after a long while, he uttered two words: "Male insect..."
Hearing this answer, Wei Shao suddenly felt that it was ridiculous.
"The first time you drank too much, you cried in my arms and asked him why he couldn't grow up with you. I thought he was your real brother... Feiluo, don't you feel disgusted?" Wei Shao looked at him, "If you can't forget him, why do you still come to provoke me?"
"No, I've only ever--"
"Enough, Philo, I hate hearing this kind of words the most in my life, can you please stop talking?" Wei Shao interrupted him directly.
He had heard this too many times. He heard his father tell his mother, "I was just playing around with others," and he heard his mother say, "Mom only loves you" after she remarried and then never came back to see him.
Philo stood there stiffly for a long time, so long that Wei Shao even suspected that this person was no longer in the room.
"...Do you want to divorce me?"
Wei Shao had never wanted to smoke so much before.
He was silent for a while: "No."
There was a sudden burst of light in Philo's eyes.
"I will do what I promised, Feiluo, you should find a suitable male insect as soon as possible," Wei Shao looked down at him, "As for other matters, we can talk about it after we find one..."
Wait till you find it.
Wait till you find it...
"I don't want it."
"I don't want them, I just want you."
"I didn't lie to you, I just, I just didn't know how to tell you..."
Philo's voice was hoarse.
He stood there like a sculpture, his tears falling silently to the ground. The military uniform seemed to be a piece of armor supporting him, making him look less miserable.
"I want to marry you, I want to spend my whole life with you, I want--" Philo's voice stopped.
He finally couldn't hold on any longer, and a broken and collapsed sob came out of his throat: "...Wei Shao."
Wei Shao lowered his eyes and looked at him, thinking: I have never asked you to love only me in this life, I just need you to love only me when you love me.
Why can't you do it?
Why can't he get what he wants anywhere?
"You go back first."
Philo stared at him with red eyes, and there was a hint of paranoia in his voice: "You said you would stay with me until death and the annihilation of my soul."
It was the vows on the wedding day.
Wei Shao curled his lips and said, "Every married male and female insect will answer 'yes', but it is not love that makes them stay together for life, it is genes and lifelong marks that bind them together. Do you want such a marriage, Philo?"
Philo's eyelashes trembled, and he knelt on one knee in front of him, and then put down the other knee - just like all the female kings and female servants do to their male masters.
Wei Shao's pupils shrank slightly, and he pulled him up and said sternly, "That's enough."
"If you really feel sorry for me, don't fucking scream in my bed in the future, and don't fucking cry in my arms when you miss him." Wei Shao said coldly, "Don't let me see you crying before your marriage is over."
There were still traces of tears on Fei Luo's cheeks. He said nothing and did not refute. He walked forward quietly, put his arms around Wei Shao's waist, and rested his chin on his shoulder.
Wei Shao heard him say in his ear in a low and hoarse voice: "In this life, from birth to death, there is only you. If you don't believe it, wait until everything is over... I can use death to prove that I will submit to you, love you, and be loyal to you until the moment my body disappears and my soul is annihilated."
"... Shut the fuck up." Wei Shao's eyelids jumped when he heard this, and he pinched his waist hard, saying viciously, "If you do this again, I will really kill you, Fei Luo."
"Okay." Philo answered him.
Wei Shao closed his eyes and clenched his knuckles.
He thought,
That's a dead person.
No matter how unforgettable, he is still a dead person.
He only believed Philo this time.
