Chapter 67 Grandpa
Chu Xiang was lying on the sofa in the apartment playing on her phone when someone in the kitchen brought out the prepared food and placed it on the dining table. He said, "Xiangxiang, dinner's ready."
Chu Xiang got off the sofa, slipped on her slippers, and walked a few steps to sit down next to him. A bowl of rice was placed in front of her, and a pair of chopsticks were handed to her.
Gu Heng had taken off his suit jacket before cooking, and now he was only wearing a gray shirt with the sleeves rolled up, revealing strong and powerful forearms with visible veins. The shirt was tucked into his suit trousers, making his waist look even slimmer.
Chu Xiang stared at him without touching her chopsticks.
Gu Heng placed a piece of braised pork into her bowl. "Eat first, we'll look at it later."
He's gotten quite used to her occasional stalking of him.
Chu Xiang picked up her chopsticks, put the meat in her bowl into her mouth, and exclaimed happily, "It's truly a feast for the eyes!"
This "color" is, of course, only in a superficial sense.
Gu Heng is practically the perfect boyfriend. He picks Chu Xiang up from get off work every day and takes her home. He always takes her to try the best food and fun activities. Chu Xiang's expression was conflicted. She had never actually met Old Master Gu, and had only heard rumors about him. But even just hearing about Old Master Gu from the rumors made her feel inexplicably nervous.
Moreover, she was meeting the old man as his future granddaughter-in-law.
Chu Xiang grasped Gu Heng's hand. "When are we going?"
Gu Heng pinched her cheek. "You don't have to force yourself. It's okay if you don't go."
“I want to go.” Chu Xiang pursed her lips, her expression unusually resolute. “I want to gain your grandfather’s approval. I know you were raised by your grandfather. He must be a good person to raise such an outstanding grandson. I’m not afraid.”
Gu Heng's heart suddenly softened. He had always known that Chu Xiang was a very lazy person and did not want to deal with complicated interpersonal relationships. Now she wanted to gain the old man's approval, but she knew that the old man was a person he respected, so she did not want to make things difficult for him.
Gu Heng pulled her onto his lap, wrapped his arms around her, rested his chin on the top of her head, and chuckled softly, "Don't worry, Grandpa won't make things difficult for the person I like. I'm just hoping he can attend our engagement."

Chu Xiang calls Grandpa Gu "Grandpa Gu," but only "Madam" to the old lady. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence would know that this kind of address, which seems to divide a married couple into two categories, is just an unwise approach that makes the atmosphere awkward.
But Chu Xiang just shouted it out like that, as if in her eyes, she would do whatever Gu Heng said, and she was really obedient and compliant.
The old lady smiled and said, "When you were only one year old, your parents brought you to the Gu family to play with Ajue. I happened to be there at the time, and I thought to myself, this little girl is so cute. It would be even better if she could become our Gu family's daughter-in-law."
