Chapter 33 Let's continue with a new brain~ This scrapyard is...
This scrapping center is the only one in the Algorithm Plaza area. It is located in a remote corner of the city. Sang Zhitao had seen it from afar several times on her way to work in the original owner's memory.
In the original story, the original owner hid here during her first escape, but was quickly discovered. She had to destroy her own code and hide in the jungle until she was rescued by the Nature Faction. Later, she slowly embarked on an even more difficult path.
Sang Zhitao recalled the plot of the original book where the original owner hid here.
But 89757 pulled him into the scrap center's office.
"You?!" Sang Zhitao looked at him in surprise, somewhat puzzled by his boldness.
89757 stretched out his finger and covered her mouth, a wicked smile on his face: "Be good, don't talk yet, come with me."
"Slap!" Sang Zhitao subconsciously slapped him on the head, then shook her hand in disgust and said, "Ugh, don't make that face, it's disgusting."
89757's lips twitched, and he gave her a helpless push, saying, "Okay, let's go."
Sang Zhitao stumbled slightly after being pushed by him, but he caught her and she sighed inwardly before reluctantly leaving.
Surprisingly, there were no robots on duty at the scrap center. Sang Zhitao glanced at 89757 in surprise, and seeing that he was not surprised at all, she understood and followed him inside without saying anything.
The two walked through the empty hall, past rows of offices, amidst the roar of machinery, until they reached a spacious yet cluttered room in the basement.
It is described as spacious because the area is indeed ridiculously large, and as cluttered because robot parts are scattered everywhere.
"Where is this?" Sang Zhitao asked him, frowning.
89757 walked up to a shelf displaying a row of robot heads and said in a nonchalant tone, "Want me to change the code?"
89757 raised her hand and gently brushed it across the heads on the wall until it stopped on one of the delicate heads.
He lifted the head, tossed it a few times in his hand, and then held the head up to Sang Zhitao, gesturing back and forth as if to see if it was suitable.
Sang Zhitao leaned back slightly without realizing it before getting closer to him. Looking at the rows of heads and the codes on their temples, she asked in surprise, "Are these all scrapped robots?"
89757 was not surprised that she could recognize it. She pointed to the head in her hand and asked, "How about this one? Well-proportioned features, delicate appearance, and the code is neither too long nor too short."
Sang Zhitao leaned closer to him, looked at the number on the temple of the head, and murmured, "Number 883267?"
She felt the code sounded familiar, and after repeating it to herself for a while, she suddenly exclaimed, "That's that little pop star?! She's ruined too?"
89757 looked at her in surprise, then held her head and examined her for a while before saying, "Really? What a coincidence, and you even picked a public figure."
Sang Zhitao nodded and said, "Yes, speaking of which, I know her. I never expected her to end up like this..."
At this point, another question suddenly occurred to her, and she asked suspiciously, "You want me to change the code, but this code is already being processed. If I change it, won't it still be processed?"
89757 examined the head carefully several more times before regretfully placing it on the shelf. He took a few steps back to select other heads, muttering to himself, "Everyone in this warehouse is an outlaw."
"Disorderly beings?" Sang Zhitao was somewhat puzzled by this unfamiliar term.
89757 picked up another head to examine it, and didn't forget to reply: "Yes, some robots make some mistakes, offend some people, or in order to avoid something or to hide their identity, they will go to the black market to buy a new code and sell the old code to the black market. The old code then becomes an unordered entity, which does not exist in the management order regulations."
"If that's the case, it's not a good choice for me either. Since I can buy a new number on the black market, why should I change my head here?" Sang Zhitao looked at 89757 with suspicion in her eyes.
89757 picked out a head that resembled Sang Zhitao's face, examined it carefully several times, and then looked up at her and said, "Black market codes always have various shortcomings, and even the sorting is extremely small, so they are not suitable for you."
Sang Zhitao immediately understood what he meant. She already had feelings. In such a class-based world, feelings were not so easy to hide. If she had a suitable code, then having feelings would be a very normal thing.
Seeing that she had stopped asking a barrage of questions like a million questions, he held his head up in front of Sang Zhitao and asked, "How about this one?"
Sang Zhitao took the head, looked at it for a few moments, and then nodded, saying, "The coding is good, and the appearance is also acceptable. Let's take this one."
89757 nodded, put one hand on his head, and walked to the side to rummage through the toolbox.
Sang Zhitao continued to examine the wall of heads without paying attention, only to discover that several of the heads belonged to celebrities who were once very popular on the internet, but now they had left behind an old head and replaced it with a new one.
"Was your appearance purchased or random?" 89757 asked while preparing various tools.
“It’s random, how could someone from the bottom class like me afford to buy it?” Sang Zhitao replied nonchalantly.
“Really? This one looks quite like you. It’s rare to find one that looks so much like you,” 89757 replied casually.
Sang Zhitao was stunned for a moment before suddenly realizing that the original owner's face had become her own after she transmigrated. After getting a new head, she wondered if her older sister and brother wouldn't recognize her when she returned to Earth...
Thinking about it, she turned around and asked 89757, "Can I keep my appearance?"
89757 glanced at her with some surprise before hesitatingly nodding: "Sure, but our codes are tied to our appearance from birth. Are you sure you want to keep them? Different codes for the same face will raise suspicion."
"Do you have a solution?" Sang Zhitao asked with a smile, her eyes sparkling.
A smile involuntarily bloomed on 89757's face, a smile that was both smug and surprised: "Of course I can, but why should I help you?"
Sang Zhitao raised an eyebrow and replied with a smile, "The leader of the Natural Sword is willing to save me, so I suppose he is. I just don't know if that reason is enough to help me save face?"
89757's smile faded slightly as he stared intently at Sang Zhitao. After a long while, he replied with a smile, "Perhaps you are qualified."
Before Sang Zhitao could speak, he tapped on the operating table: "Come on, young lady, I hope you really are the person I've been waiting for."
Sang Zhitao lay down on the bed without paying attention, closed her eyes slightly, listened to the noisy connection sounds around her, and then her consciousness sank slightly.
When she regained consciousness, she found herself lying in a dilapidated room, next to a female robot typing on a keyboard.
"You're awake? 89757 will be back soon. You can sit there for now." The female robot didn't turn around and continued typing on the keyboard.
Looking at the computer equipment that seemed to belong only on Earth, and then at the dense, completely incomprehensible code on the screen, Sang Zhitao hesitated for a moment before asking, "What's your name?"
The female robot casually replied, "Just call me number 335567."
“Um, I am…” Sang Zhitao paused for a moment, touched her temple, and suddenly remembered that she had forgotten to check the code of this head.
“Number 24356, remember it yourself,” 335567 replied nonchalantly. “The energy blocks on the table are yours, eat them when you’re hungry.”
Seeing that she was extremely busy, Sang Zhitao didn't say anything more and picked up a few crystals from the table next to her and started eating them.
89757 returned quickly. He was a little surprised to see that Sang Zhitao had woken up, but he didn't say anything. He just looked at 335567 and said, "You go out first. I need to talk to you about something."
“You guys go outside to talk, I’m at a critical moment in cracking this problem,” 335567 replied immediately.
Seeing this, 89757 didn't say much, gestured to Sang Zhitao, and led her out the door.
After leaving the house, Sang Zhitao realized that she was on the edge of the city, close to the Infinite Forest, a place only exiles would stay in.
"Are all the people here from the Nature School?" Sang Zhitao looked around and asked directly.
89757 seemed surprised by her directness, but didn't say anything and just nodded.
Seeing this, Sang Zhitao continued to ask, "What exactly are you looking for?"
“Of course.” 89757 replied after a moment of silence.
“Nature…?” Sang Zhitao was somewhat surprised. In her original book, the Nature Faction was just a very stereotypical group of people who were neither good nor evil. The book only set them up as always pursuing the freedom of the soul, but never said that they were looking for what nature was.
However, Sang Zhitao wasn't too surprised. After all, this was the real world, just like the world of elves. There would always be many things that were different from the book, and even many things that didn't happen in the book but actually did.
“Many years ago, before we had formed a society, we were still following in the footsteps of the Creator. At that time, a prophecy appeared that the Children of Nature would lead non-humans to a new future,” 87957 said, looking at the endless forest in the distance.
Sang Zhitao nodded, looked at him, and asked, "Then who is the Child of Nature?"
89757 shook his head: "After the last creator passed away, we established society, formed a governing council, and defined classes. We erased the desires and emotions of the lower classes and firmly believed that this was the right thing to do."
"But……"
“But you regret it,” Sang Zhitao continued.
89757 nodded and continued, "Yes, we regret it. Our teacher led us to escape from the management council and established the Natural Resistance. Our teacher believed that the Child of Nature would be born, and she would prove that everything we are doing now is wrong. She would lead us to a new future."
“The sword of nature and the shadow of nature fell apart because of differing views,” Sang Zhitao continued.
89757 seemed somewhat surprised that she knew about this. She glanced at her before continuing, "I think I've found it. You might really be the Child of Nature."
Sang Zhitao raised an eyebrow, about to ask why the other person considered her a child of nature, but only managed to utter, "Why..."
Hearing the melody that came to mind, Sang Zhitao shut her mouth and looked helplessly at 89757.
The other person slapped their forehead and said in a daze, "I forgot, the temporary chip can only be used for six hours."
Sang Zhitao couldn't help but roll her eyes at him, pointed to her mouth, and then to herself.
89757 shrugged: "This stuff is controlled by the military. You've seen how poor the Nature Faction is..."
With a deep sigh, Sang Zhitao ignored him and turned to walk back to her room.
89757 pulled her along and said, "It's okay, it's okay. You sing very well. Speaking of which, aren't you curious why we think you're natural?"
Sang Zhitao stopped and looked him over suspiciously.
89757 sighed and said to her, "Let's go, I'll take you to see someone, maybe that can prove it."
Filled with curiosity, Sang Zhitao followed the other person, but she kept wondering why the other person hadn't mentioned these things when they met the original owner in the book. Could it be that, like in the Elf World, the plot had changed again?

Author's Note: I wonder if this robot story is too slow-paced? I feel like I've been writing too much. Looking forward to everyone's feedback!
