Chapter 80 Heading to the Mine The black protective suit was put on...
Wearing black protective suits and shoes with cushioning pads, the group quietly appeared under the gap between two high walls in the quiet night.
"Tap tap." A faint tapping sound came from one of them.
"Left." This is the message from the rhythm code.
The group quickly took cover in the shadow of a wall.
"Tap tap." The sound rang out again, this time accompanied by the word "go".
Soon after, the "right" signal prompted them to quickly slip behind the wall on the other side.
With reminders to go left or right, to stop or move forward, the group of people safely traversed the narrow passage.
“There’s a mine just 800 meters ahead,” Tou Lan said, pointing to a spot on the map.
“Let’s go take a look.” Sang Zhitao’s eyes flashed, confirming that it was the mine she had visited in her previous life.
The group changed their clothes, tidied themselves up, and dressed themselves up as ordinary people before slowly moving towards the mine.
About two hours later, a car passed by them.
They were unable to dodge in time and were spotted by the people in the car.
The other person glanced at them, winked at his companion, and then said with a smile, "Where are you going? Would you like a ride?"
Sang Zhitao and Tou Lan exchanged glances, then smiled innocently and said, "Hello, brother, we are on a study tour organized by the school, and we are now heading back to school."
The man's eyes narrowed slightly, gleaming with a sharp light, but he smiled warmly and replied, "Wow, so you're students from the academy district. How about we give you a ride?"
Sang Zhitao feigned ignorance and looked at her companions: "What do you guys think?"
“I’ll listen to you,” Tou Lü replied obediently.
Tou Zi then feigned concern: "What if I don't pass the test?"
"If we don't pass the test, our parents will beat us to death," the Jingqian sisters said, putting on a pitiful act.
"Teacher, what do you think?" Sang Zhitao looked at Touhui again.
Touhui feigned a timid demeanor and hesitated for a long time before finally saying, "Anything...anything is fine."
Seeing this, the man's smile became even more undisguised. After thinking for a moment, he couldn't help but ask tentatively, "Which school are you from?"
Sang Zhitao feigned embarrassment and awkwardness, and after a while, she replied in a low voice, "Our school is called Anjing Experimental Institute."
"Anjing Experimental Institute?" The man recalled for a moment, realizing he had never heard of the name before, and assumed it was an unknown small academy. His smile widened.
"So you've decided to come with us?" the male companion next to him asked.
Sang Zhitao nodded, looking mature and reliable.
Seeing her acting like a little adult, the man and his companion exchanged a glance and revealed sly smiles.
Sang Zhitao and the others pretended not to notice the two men's malice at all and obediently climbed into the carriage.
There were about eight people sitting in the carriage, one of whom was a girl of similar age to them.
Sang Zhitao glanced at her pale face and hazy eyes, knowing that she was about to die, just like in her previous life.
She pursed her lips but did not offer any help to the girl.
The girl's illness was not a contamination disease that could be treated with purification, but a disease that only a gem doctor could cure, and Sang Zhi Tao did not possess the medical skills of the Gem Kingdom.
Sang Zhitao lowered her head, slightly avoiding the girl's gaze. She didn't want to see someone die, but she didn't know how to help them. She pursed her lips, lowered her head, and only hoped that avoiding the girl would help her.
Touhui saw her expression, his eyes swept over the girl, and his eyebrows twitched as he immediately understood.
After thinking for a moment, Tou Hui stepped forward and asked, "Little girl, are you alright?"
The man sitting next to the girl flinched involuntarily before waving his hands repeatedly and saying, "It's alright, it's alright."
"I feel like the little girl isn't feeling well." Tou Hui smiled and reached out to touch the girl's forehead.
"Slap!" Unfortunately, his hand was slapped away by the man before it could even touch the girl.
Tou Hui paused for a moment, glanced at the nervous man, then at the girl, and said nothing more, silently retreating to her original position.
He glanced at Sang Zhitao and gently shook his head.
Sang Zhitao sighed silently, closed her eyes, and leaned against Tou Lan, no longer paying attention to the girl.
Sure enough, in less than five minutes, the girl's body convulsed, and then she silently turned into a gemstone.
The man next to the girl stood there stunned for a long time before excitedly getting up and patting the carriage.
Shortly after, they felt a jolt, and then the car stopped. The driver jumped into the passenger compartment.
He didn't even glance at the girl before knocking the man down with a single punch.
After throwing more than a dozen punches, he finally noticed the girl frown.
However, when his gaze swept over Sang Zhitao and her group, his expression instantly softened. After seeing their attempts to avoid him, he quickly adopted a gentle demeanor and said with a smile, "I'm sorry, I was too hasty and that's why I lost my composure."
Sang Zhitao remained obedient, smiling and shaking her head: "Oh, okay, I understand."
The man then stopped talking, glanced at the girl's body with some annoyance, and then bent down to pick her up, intending to move her away.
Tou Lan quietly moved aside, blocking his way.
After the man reminded him, he pretended to realize something and quickly stepped aside, but his hand accidentally touched the girl's.
After the man left and the car continued on its way, he nodded silently to Sang Zhitao.
Sang Zhitao then turned to look at the translucent yellow.
Transparent yellow responded silently.
Time slipped away amidst the swaying and rocking of the car.
After driving for a long time, the car suddenly stopped.
The man driving leaned in, looked at them, and said with a smile, "We've arrived at the mine. Let the workers get out first."
Sang Zhitao nodded, got out of the car, and pretended to be relaxed.
The man was initially wary, but seeing that they were just taking pictures together, he stopped saying anything.
"My name is Mingcai. I'll take the people in first. Please wait a moment." The man gave a brief explanation and quickly left with the workers.
After everyone disappeared, Sang Zhitao carefully looked around and, finding nothing but some guards, turned to Touhuang and asked in a low voice, "How was it?"
Touhuang shook his head: "It's been stuck in one place without moving. Could it be that we've misunderstood?"
Sang Zhitao frowned: "You keep an eye on things for now. We'll find a chance to go inside the mine and take a look. If it's really not working out, we'll leave as soon as possible."
Touhuang nodded, and the others quickly nodded in agreement.
A moment later, Mingcai came running out and said to everyone apologetically, "I'm sorry, the car can't leave today. Why don't you stay here for the night and I'll drive you there tomorrow morning?"
Sang Zhitao smiled and declined, saying, "No, we were planning to walk there anyway, so it's fine to walk now, it's not far."
Mingcai's eyes flickered before she spoke, "It's not close at all; look, it's almost dark now."
Tou Lan stepped forward and said, "We're used to traveling at night, it's alright, thank you."
Seeing this, Mingcai didn't try to persuade her any further. She just smiled and said, "It's fate that we've met. Since we can't stay here, why don't we go in, rest a bit, and have a drink of water?"
Before Sang Zhitao could refuse, Mingcai smiled and advised, "We have a special welcome ceremony tonight. Since you are students on a study tour, wouldn't you like to record it?"
Sang Zhitao and the others had originally wanted to go in and take a look, so it would be great if they could go along with it, but they still pretended to hesitate and waited a while before saying, "Well... alright then."
Seeing Sang Zhitao nod in agreement, Mingcai's smile widened, and she quickly turned to make way, saying, "Please."
Just like the one Sang Zhitao saw in her previous life, the mine appeared to be in perfect compliance with the law.
A beautiful office building, a well-stocked staff canteen, comfortable staff dormitories, and a fun staff activity center.
In the distance are large, well-organized mining equipment and some workers in overalls who look relaxed and happy.
But Sang Zhitao knew that behind all this beauty lay a true hell on earth.
Beneath the massive mining equipment, gaunt workers, completely naked, moved back and forth in the mine shaft.
The well-stocked staff canteen only opens when new employees arrive.
The comfortable staff dormitory has only a few rooms available for rest.
The activity center and office building are restricted areas that only those in high positions can enter.
"These must be the children Mingcai was talking about. Welcome, welcome," a portly middle-aged man greeted them with a smile.
His grey skin shimmered in the setting sun, and through the translucent skin, one could see the buildings behind him, twisted like earthworms.
"Hello." Sang Zhitao stepped forward and shook hands with the other person.
A sliver of white light, unnoticed, entered the other person's body.
The extremely rare obesity in the Gem Kingdom made the middle-aged man, who was making a friendly gesture, appear strangely distorted.
"You can go to the dormitory to rest first. I'll have Mingcai come and get you tonight." The middle-aged man winked at Mingcai.
Mingcai nodded silently, then smiled and said to them, "Let's go, let's go and rest first."
Sang Zhitao pretended not to understand, smiled and nodded in agreement, and led her companion into the dormitory building.
"You all rest first. If you need anything, just call out. We have guards patrolling each floor." After saying this, Mingcai gave the instructions a few more times, then turned and took her leave.
After everyone left, Sang Zhitao looked at Touhuang.
From the moment he entered the dormitory building, Touhuang's expression was rather unpleasant. At this moment, he looked at Sang Zhitao and said, "The signal is being blocked."
Sang Zhitao narrowed her eyes: "It seems there are quite a few secrets here."
"Tonight's operation?" Tou Lan looked at Tou Huang.
After thinking for a moment, Touhuang said, "Okay, give me three hours, and I can rebuild a robot that doesn't need a signal transmitter."
“Then you should start getting sick,” Sang Zhitao said after thinking for a moment.
Touhuang instantly understood and quickly returned to his room to prepare before the patrol arrived.
They didn't notice a red dot flashing in the corner of the room.
The obese middle-aged man stared coldly at the screen: "What language are they speaking?"
A thin woman trembled and stammered, "N-no...never heard of it."
The obese middle-aged man glanced at her and said coldly, "I'll give you one night to crack it, or else..."
The woman trembled even more violently, but dared not object, and could only nod repeatedly in agreement.
They were completely oblivious to the glint of shrewdness in Mingcai's eyes.
