Chapter 116: They were captured and taken to the outside of the core hub, queuing up just like last time...
Just like last time, there was a long queue outside the core hub. However, Yu Cao seemed to be even less lucky this time, as she was further back in the queue than before.
Looking at the newly added bulging pouch on her waist, Sang Zhitao couldn't help but secretly rejoice that she had thought things through and made preparations early.
"There's no more fun to do, but we can still eat our fill~" She took a bite of a palm-sized piece of fruit, leaned back contentedly against Yu Cao's high ponytail, and dangled her leg, sighing with satisfaction.
Time passed in the tedious queue. Perhaps because it was a formal exam, everyone was not moving very fast. By the time they arrived at Yucao, it was already afternoon.
"Name." The examiner coldly flipped through the documents in his hand.
“Jade Grass,” Jade Grass replied calmly.
The examiner raised an eyebrow, glanced at her, and then looked at a sentence in the document before asking, "So you're the one who published that paper that's like a poisonous weed?"
Yu Cao nodded and agreed.
The other person was somewhat surprised and was about to say something when there was a knock on the door.
"What's wrong? You're still under assessment." The examiner frowned slightly, looking at the newcomer with some displeasure.
The man who arrived was a soldier dressed in Imperial Guard uniform. He saluted the two men before coldly replying, "The commander requests that this gentleman come over."
Just as the examiner was about to reprimand the man for interrupting the exam, he heard the soldier mention the commander of the Imperial Guard. His expression hardened, and he said seriously, "No problem."
Then the examiner turned to Yu Cao and said, "Yu Cao, you can come with me."
Yu Cao nodded blankly and helplessly, then followed the soldier out the door.
We walked through the spacious hall, down the ornate corridor, and up the exquisite stairs until we arrived at the monitoring room on the third floor.
The Imperial Guard leader, Liang Mo, looked at the newcomer with slightly red eyes. After seeing the soldier leading the way nod slightly, his eyes softened a little, and he asked Yu Cao, "What are you carrying?"
Yu Cao timidly took a step back before shaking her head slightly.
The woman standing next to Liang Mo held a laptop, glanced at Yu Cao, and then said to Liang Mo, "It's her."
Liang Mo's cold eyes swept over the woman: "Dr. Lian, do you have more accurate testing equipment?"
The woman referred to as Dr. Lian was the one who followed closely behind Liang Mo and reported to the manager that day.
She glanced at Liang Mo expressionlessly, then at the computer in her hand, and pursed her lips: "Yes, but not here."
Liang Mo didn't even ask Yu Cao before making the decision: "Take her away."
Yu Cao pursed her lips in fear, shrinking slightly as the soldier leading the way pushed her onto the Imperial Guard's vehicle, heading towards Dr. Lian's laboratory.
As they left, the tremors in the core dome ceased once more.
Liang Mo raised an eyebrow, glanced at Yu Cao, and then looked at Dr. Lian, saying, "Just as you guessed."
Dr. Lian looked at her indifferent expression, but couldn't hide the interest in her eyes, and sighed silently.
They didn't say much along the way. It wasn't until they reached the laboratory that Dr. Lian pointed to the equipment in the observation room and said to Yu Cao, "Go in, but don't touch anything."
Yu Cao obediently entered the equipment and stood obediently inside, not daring to move.
Dr. Lian and Liang Mo stood in front of the observation window, staring intently at the large screen above them.
The mulberry tree atop Yu Cao's head was now numb...
She never expected that her plan to leave the jade grass and head to the core dome would end so inexplicably before it even began, and now she was even discovered by someone she didn't know was friend or foe.
Before she could even pull the headband off Yu Cao's head, the alarm sounded throughout the observation room.
Hearing the familiar alarm, Sang Zhitao had the illusion that she was returning to base.
"Found it!" Dr. Lian smiled as he looked at the tiny figure, no bigger than a sesame seed, climbing down from Yu Cao's hair tie on the screen.
Liang Mo was speechless for a moment, not expecting that the person he was looking for was such a tiny little person.
When she saw Sang Zhitao climbing down from above, she unconsciously reached out and covered her chest, feeling as if her cold heart was suddenly enveloped by a surge of warmth.
Liang Mo was unaware of how tender his gaze was as he looked at Sang Zhitao.
Dr. Lian paid no attention to her, repeatedly reminding the others, "Be careful, don't hurt her."
The others who wanted to go in and make the arrest paused, especially the two imperial guards, who subconsciously looked at Liang Mo.
Liang Mo stared intently at the screen and commanded without hesitation, "Listen to Dr. Lian."
The two Imperial Guards stood aside, waiting for Dr. Lian's instructions.
Dr. Lian frowned as he looked at the screen before speaking to Sang Zhitao on the screen: "Hello, I hope we can have a peaceful conversation."
Sang Zhitao paused in her climb toward Yu Cao's shoulder, subconsciously looking up in Dr. Lian's direction. After hesitating for a moment, she carefully climbed down two steps.
Dr. Lian continued, "Hello, miracle girl from the experimental world."
Upon hearing this, Sang Zhitao immediately realized that the other person was referring to her. She frowned slightly, looked in Dr. Lian's direction for a moment, and then nodded. Regardless of whether the other person had heard her or not, she continued with her actions.
Upon seeing this, Dr. Lian smiled slightly and said to everyone, "Use your grabbing hands to bring the person over."
The subordinate hurriedly operated the control panel, and a mechanical gripper emerged from the corner and carefully landed on Yu Cao's shoulder.
Yu Cao was first startled by Dr. Lian's shout, and just as she was feeling lost, she was startled by the mechanical arm.
Before she could react, the robotic arm moved away from her.
Yu Cao stared blankly at the departing mechanical arm, then looked at Dr. Lian outside, unsure of what to do.
Liang Mo slightly turned his head, his eyes still fixed on the screen: "Send the person over there."
She didn't go into specifics, but the two imperial guards understood what she meant. They went in and brought Yu Cao out, then took her to the core hub.
"Hello, Miracle Girl." Looking at the miniature figure on the screen, Dr. Lian greeted her once again.
"Hello," Sang Zhitao replied simply, believing that saying too much would only lead to mistakes.
Dr. Lian was not surprised by her indifference and asked directly, "You caused the core nexus tremor, didn't you?"
Sang Zhitao raised an eyebrow: "I don't know."
Dr. Lian was somewhat surprised: "Aren't you the Woman of Miracles?"
Sang Zhitao couldn't help but smile: "They're just saying that."
"Then let's try going to the core hub." Liang Mo was impatient to listen to their cryptic banter.
Hearing her say that, Dr. Lian was not surprised, nor did he refute it.
Sang Zhitao shrugged and readily agreed.
However, Dr. Lian did not bring her out immediately. After pondering for a moment, he said, "I don't know if you can accept being magnified."
Sang Zhitao was somewhat surprised: "Huh?"
“You are too small now. If we don’t enlarge you, it will be difficult for us to keep you with us,” Dr. Lian replied frankly.
Sang Zhitao knew she meant what if she ran away? She instantly felt an urge to tell the other person how absurd it was for a miniature person to escape from the land of giants.
However, she didn't say it aloud, but simply nodded in agreement with Dr. Lian's idea.
I was sent back into the equipment by the mechanical gripper, a slight heat came over me, and a blue light flashed in front of me.
The enormous sight gradually shrank until…
"What's going on?!" Sang Zhitao stared blankly at the size comparison between herself and the equipment.
Even the doctor was somewhat surprised.
Liang Mo didn't think too much about it. She just covered her chest with both hands, looking like she was about to have trouble breathing. Her cheeks were flushed, and her slightly red eyes were even redder, almost dripping blood.
Sang Zhitao looked speechlessly at the equipment behind her, then at Dr. Lian outside. She was now only as tall as the other man's calf.
"Why am I only five meters tall?! Captain Levi? Even if I become a Titan, I'm only two meters tall?!" Sang Zhitao had an urge to flip the table.
"So cute." Dr. Lian smiled and hugged her. "Is it atavistic height?"
"Isn't the height of a genus of beings also ten meters?" Liang Mo took a few deep breaths to suppress the excitement in his heart and said in a low voice.
Dr. Lian thought for a moment: "Before the great catastrophe, wasn't there a type of human who was shorter than ordinary humans?"
Liang Mo looked at her silently, as if to say, "You don't know."
Dr. Lian gave an awkward smile. Everyone in the country knew that the leader of the Imperial Guard was an illiterate man with ridiculously high combat skills. She must have been out of her mind to rub salt in someone else's wounds.
Sang Zhitao rolled her eyes speechlessly, and couldn't help but speak up to testify for the people before the great catastrophe: "Before the great catastrophe, the average height of men was 1.7 meters and that of women was 1.6 meters. Some people were taller or shorter, and a very small number were 2 meters tall!"
"Two meters?!" Dr. Lian exclaimed in surprise. "Isn't that smaller than a baby?"
"You've collected so many buildings from before the great catastrophe, haven't you ever thought about this?" Sang Zhitao asked, puzzled.
Dr. Lian replied curiously, "We always thought it was already compressed."
The room fell silent for a moment.
Liang Mo had calmed down by now. She wiped her hands on both sides of her clothes before skillfully snatching Sang Zhitao back into her arms from Dr. Lian's hands: "It's time to leave."
Dr. Lian raised an eyebrow, but did not snatch Sang Zhitao back. Instead, he gave a few instructions and followed Liang Mo toward the core hub.
On the way, she didn't forget to send the message to the administrator.
In the empty hall, the manager slightly raised his head, as if waking up.
He glanced at the message on the screen beside him, his eyes flashing with excitement. He stared wide-eyed until they were bloodshot, muttering repeatedly, "Impossible, the rumors are false, I'm not wrong, I'm not wrong..."
Unfortunately, no matter how much he denied it, the message on the screen remained the same.
After a long while, as if he had lost his soul, he suddenly lowered his head, his eyes were empty, and he stopped speaking.
Dr. Lian was somewhat surprised that he did not receive a reply from the administrator, but seeing that they had already arrived at the core hub, he did not delay any longer and accompanied Liang Mo directly into the core hub.
They carried Sang Zhitao from the hall to the corridor, then up the stairs, until they reached the highest point.
