Chapter 57: Sang Zhitao Returns to the Pirate World...
Sang Zhitao recounted her experiences in the pirate world in great detail.
Li Mingguo nodded thoughtfully: "So, you were able to travel back because you encountered the Dark Vortex and obtained the treasures within it."
“Yes, the problem now is that I don’t know how to get back.” Sang Zhitao frowned and sighed.
Li Mingguo smiled and comforted him, "It's alright, we'll try it slowly, we'll eventually find the key."
Seeing this, Sang Zhitao nodded before asking, "Was the technology we brought earlier useful?"
Li Mingguo's lips curled into a wide grin, a forced but defeated smile: "Of course, it's not just useful."
His memory returned to a short time ago when he obtained weapon blueprints from the machine planet and even some weapon samples that could travel through space portals. He then reported this to the military research institute.
He even used this opportunity to discuss with others how to use these things as bait, and they caught quite a few big fish.
Seeing his gaze shift from friendly to murderous, Sang Zhitao instantly understood and said with a smile, "It seems we've gained quite a bit."
Li Mingguo looked at her with the same affection he would show his daughter: "Thanks to you."
Sang Zhitao quickly waved her hand: "It's all thanks to everyone."
The two of them suddenly burst into laughter as they faced each other.
Li Mingguo then said seriously, "Tao Tao, don't worry about things at home. Just take good care of yourself, okay?"
Seeing his seriousness, Sang Zhitao nodded emphatically.
As the two were talking, Zhang Pingnan's message arrived. They smiled at each other and left the cafeteria for the conference room.
"Based on our testing and analysis, we have determined that Tao Tao's significant psychological changes are due to the influence of the Machine Star," Zhang Pingnan said, projecting the report onto the large screen.
"The influence of the machine planet? But this has never happened before!"
“Indeed, based on our group’s analysis combined with that of other groups, we believe that Tao Tao’s body will be continuously modified during the journey. The physical attributes of the Elf World are enhanced, and the rationality of the Machine Planet is absolute,” Zhang Pingnan continued.
"So, every time I travel to a new world, I'll be affected to some extent?" Sang Zhitao asked, frowning.
Zhang Pingnan nodded helplessly: "If nothing unexpected happens, yes."
"How much impact will it have on Tao Tao's health?" Li Mingguo was considering a different direction.
"Nothing has been found yet; it may depend on the medical team." Zhang Pingnan shook his head and looked at the medical team.
The head of the medical team happened to be busy and missed this meeting, so Zhang Su will be giving the presentation.
"Based on all our test reports to date, Tao Tao's physical condition has changed quite a bit. Back in the Elf World, her physical fitness almost reached the standard of the elves, far exceeding that of Earthlings. After we went to the Machine Planet, we stopped testing her."
"However, after our retesting, we found that Tao Tao's physical fitness has declined, but it is still above the level of ordinary people."
“So that means Professor Zhang is right, I will indeed be modified because of time travel, and my cold-bloodedness comes from the influence of the machine planet, right?” Sang Zhitao said.
“Yes.” Zhang Su glanced at her, a hint of concern flashing in her eyes.
"Let's leave it at that for now. My influence should be much weaker in the next world. As for this world... I'll try to control it a little." Sang Zhitao let out a soft sigh.
Li Mingguo opened his mouth, but in the end didn't say anything. He nodded and said, "Okay, that's fine too."
After the meeting concluded briefly, Sang Zhitao turned to Li Mingguo and said, "Uncle Li, I'd like to try bringing those treasures back. Do you think it's feasible?"
Li Mingguo glanced at her in surprise before smiling and saying, "Of course."
"Okay, I'll give it a try later." Sang Zhitao nodded.
After saying goodbye to Li Mingguo and returning to her room, Sang Zhitao was completely baffled as to why she had brought the things back.
She didn't notice that the jade pendant on her chest was emitting bursts of green light, which then slowly disappeared.
It was evening when Sang Leping hurriedly arrived at the base with the gifts.
"Tao Tao." Sang Leping hugged his younger sister and let out a deep breath.
Sang Zhitao knew that her brother had been worried about her, and she also knew that he was only grateful for her safety at this moment.
Reaching out to hug her brother, Sang Zhitao smiled and teased, "Brother, I missed you so much."
"Hmm." Sang Leping's voice was slightly hoarse.
After a long while, he reluctantly pushed his sister away and handed her the gift.
Sang Zhitao curiously took the gift box and opened it.
Inside was a very beautiful gemstone bracelet. She looked at it in amazement and carefully picked it up.
She looked up at her brother with excitement and surprise in her eyes.
"You like it, right? These aren't ordinary gems. I've put some special medicine on the back of each one. It's too dangerous for you in that world, so you have to protect yourself, okay?" Sang Leping took the bracelet from his sister and carefully tied it around her wrist.
Sang Zhitao looked at the bracelet made of ten gemstones in surprise, and carefully pressed one of them, but unfortunately there was no reaction as she had expected.
Sang Leping couldn't help but laugh out loud, which earned him a glare from Meimei.
"Press it three times in a row, just to prevent you from accidentally pressing it," Sang Leping instructed his sister before asking, "When are you going this time?"
"I don't know. All I know is that we came back because we found the treasure, but I don't know what will happen when we go back," Sang Zhitao sighed.
"It's okay, no need to rush." Sang Leping smiled and patted her.
Sang Leping didn't stay long. Now he has accepted the civilian technology released by the base and is releasing it under the name of a private enterprise. He is extremely busy now.
After seeing her brother off and finishing dinner, Sang Zhitao stared at the bracelet in her hand. After a long time, she could vaguely see a word behind each gemstone in the lamplight.
One, three, and five are medicine; two, four, and six are poison.
Sang Zhitao couldn't help but twitch her lips; she hadn't expected her brother to be so thoughtful.
Before going to bed that night, Sang Zhitao turned on the equipment prepared for her at the base and started reading a novel; it had been a long time since she had read a novel.
"Ding!!" The alarm suddenly sounded again.
Li Mingguo frowned and made a phone call: "Did Tao Tao go there?"
"Yes!" the person on the other end replied.
"What's the reason?" Li Mingguo asked hurriedly.
"We haven't noticed yet. Perhaps she received some jewelry. Just now, President Sang gave her a bracelet," the person on the other end continued.
Li Mingguo thought for a moment before speaking and saying, "Okay, when Tao Tao comes back next time, you can continue the experiment."
When Sang Zhitao woke up, it was noon. There seemed to be some noise outside. She rubbed her temples and realized that she had returned.
Looking at the bracelet her brother had given her on her wrist, she frowned: "Could it be that he came back because he got the treasure?"
Sang Zhitao's lips twitched, and she couldn't help but sigh, "Perhaps, I will make a fortune because of this time travel."
"Captain." Little John knocked gently on the door.
"I'm up," Sang Zhitao replied.
“Yes, Captain, I’m going to have breakfast.” John’s voice was a little excited.
Sang Zhitao quickly tidied herself up before opening the door.
She could see from the railing that a group of people were fighting on the deck below.
Sang Zhitao was stunned; she hadn't expected to see this scene as soon as she stepped outside.
However, the battle was over before she could even react.
“Captain!” Baron waved to her from below.
Once on the deck, Sang Zhitao discovered that the attackers were Bernard and his group.
Walking up to Bernard, looking down at him who was staring intently at her, Sang Zhitao couldn't help but force a smile: "Captain Bernard, I wonder what's going on here...?"
"Bah! The Red Blade will never coexist with you!" Bernard retorted stubbornly.
When Baron saw him uttering such foul language, he stomped on him so hard that he couldn't move.
"Suit yourself. According to the rules, I can kill you," Sang Zhitao said nonchalantly.
A flicker of fear crossed Bernard's eyes, which quickly turned into resentment.
“However…” Sang Zhitao fiddled with the bracelet, deliberately whetting her appetite.
“But I’m in a good mood, so I can let you off the hook.” Sang Zhitao smiled, and only after a look of relief flashed in Bernard’s eyes did she deliberately add, “But I really hate flies buzzing around me.”
"Baron, handle it according to the rules," Sang Zhitao said to Baron before turning around and leaving.
When she stood on the second deck, she turned around and saw Bernard being hoisted off the deck by Baron on a plank, taking in his eyes filled with fear and his trembling legs.
"Baron!" she shouted, a malicious smile creeping across her face. "I've changed my mind. Let's release him."
Baron seemed unsurprised by her change of heart, nonchalantly dragging her back and throwing her into the basement, waiting to find a suitable island before leaving her there.
"Captain, Captain Bayer of the Red-Haired Ship has come to visit."
After she finished breakfast and lay on the deck looking at the two books she had found in the beads, John Jr. brought Bayer over.
“Captain Bayer, please have a seat.” Sang Zhitao pointed to the deck chair next to her.
Bayer was taken aback, not expecting such a welcoming ceremony, but he didn't say anything. He just smiled and sat down beside him, looking at the sparkling sea with curiosity, and said, "Those other fleets behind are probably planning to make their move, right? Are you sure you don't need the help of the Red-Haired Shanks and the Bright Star?"
"Hahahaha." Sang Zhitao burst out laughing, and waved to the flag bearer under Bayer's surprised gaze.
Before long, the other fleets quickly caught up.
Bayer frowned, watching the ships warily. Just as he was on high alert, the sails on one of the ships suddenly dropped.
He stood there, stunned, and soon the new sails were raised again.
But the sails that were raised this time were exactly the same as those on the Anling, which he was on.
"You! Them?!" Bayer pointed at the ships and looked at Sang Zhitao in surprise.
"How about it, Captain Bayer? I don't think I could get into the central area without these ships, would I?" Sang Zhitao said with a smug smile.
Looking at the girl's smile and the pattern printed on the brand-new sail behind her, Bayer was suddenly speechless. He didn't know whether his request could move the young captain who had become a powerful force.
