Chapter 10: Avoiding the First Wave of Crisis ~ Sigma CQ4...
The collapse of the Sigma CQ48 wormhole was unexpectedly fast. When their ship was about a quarter of the way away from the wormhole, they felt an unusual tremor.
The wind sprites inside the spaceship quickly steadied themselves amidst the tremors, but their movements remained swift and unhindered.
Under their control, the spaceship quickly stabilized and escaped the range of the shockwave.
“This is…” With Sang Zhitao by her side, Yi Lei had already seen the incredible sight outside the window.
The once tranquil universe now rippled like a boulder thrown into the water. As the ripples intensified, the very center seemed to be pierced through, and the surrounding celestial bodies were sucked into it.
The location where the celestial body disappeared slowly formed a black hole. Its entrance, like the mouth of a monster, greedily devoured everything around it, and the opening seemed to come alive, constantly opening and closing.
“It really collapsed…” A flicker of fear crossed Irene’s eyes.
"Is this a wormhole collapse?" Sang Zhitao stared wide-eyed at the magnificent sight before her.
This is the universe, a place of constant crisis, yet also filled with captivating mystery...
"Thank you! Sylph, you really are our hope!" Irene kissed the top of Sang Zhitao's head with tears in her eyes.
“Yi Lei, we survived~” Sang Zhitao cupped her face and replied with a smile.
“Yes, we survived. That’s great, Sylph. Thank you so much.” Irene wiped away her tears and nodded.
Sang Zhitao's eyes flickered, and she instantly remembered that she wanted the wind spirit to change course.
“Irene, I have a feeling that three-quarters of a light-year away, there is a group of people waiting for our rescue, and they might be of great help to us,” Sang Zhitao said.
“Okay, I’ll tell them to head that way right away.” Irene nodded without hesitation.
Seeing this, Sang Zhitao finally breathed a sigh of relief. Then she said, "Yi Lei, that should be an asteroid belt. Remember to have Platinum study the guide device so that we don't get trapped too."
Without giving it much thought, Yi Lei nodded in agreement and then tapped her personal terminal to inform Platinum.
The spaceship flew smoothly through space. Even the most beautiful scenery outside the window can become tiresome. After watching the beautiful cosmic views for almost a day, Sang Zhitao finally couldn't resist falling asleep.
According to the technological advancements she described in the original book, the wind elves' spaceships already travel at faster-than-light speeds using warp drives, so they could reach this light-year in just 10 days with normal flight.
Sang Zhitao slept for almost four days before waking up from the mother tree.
Rubbing her sleepy eyes, Sang Zhitao looked at Nora, who was guarding her, and asked curiously, "Nora, how did I get here?"
Nora had already sensed that she was about to wake up, so she picked her up from the tree and placed her in front of the prepared dining table before smiling and replying, "It was Her Majesty the Queen who discovered that your body urgently needed energy, which the spirit stones could not fully replenish, so she sent you to the Mother Tree."
"I see... How long did I sleep?" Sang Zhitao nodded as she ate a fruit unique to the elves.
Seeing that she liked it, Nora cut a lot more for her before replying, "It's been four days now. How have you been sleeping? Have you been sleeping well?"
Sang Zhitao bit into the sweet and soft flesh of the fruit and nodded: "Mmm."
Nora looked her over carefully before smiling and saying, "I guess I'll have to take your measurements again. The clothes look a bit small to me."
Sang Zhitao glanced down at her sleeves and skirt and agreed, "Indeed, I also think the sleeves are too short."
At this point, a suspicion arose in her mind, but she didn't think about it deeply before being interrupted by Yi Lei, who arrived in a hurry.
"Sylph, you're awake?" Irene came over with Platinum and the head of the medical department.
Sang Zhitao had never met the Minister of the Medical Department before. The last time she came for a check-up, it was Platinum who did it. She had always thought that the Academy of Sciences was also in charge of medical care. Now that she saw this unfamiliar elf, she assumed that she was Platinum's assistant.
However, Irene smiled and picked her up, introducing her: "This is Tina, the head of the medical department."
Sang Zhitao then returned the smile to the unfamiliar elf.
The other person was a delicate woman with long silver hair, who, like Nora, exuded a strange sense of familiarity.
She looked at Sang Zhitao and smiled very kindly: "Sylph, hello. I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to see you the other day in the lab."
Sang Zhitao gently shook her head before looking at Yi Lei.
Irene had already heard Nora's reply, nodded to Platinum, pushed the equipment in, and examined Sang Zhitao again.
The report came out quickly, and Tina smiled as she flipped through it, saying, "Very good, Sylph's growth curve is excellent. She has grown another centimeter in height, and I estimate that she will soon grow into an adult."
"That's great. In that case, Sylph can move to the Mother Tree for the time being," Irene said, relieved.
Nora nodded in agreement, and Sang Zhitao didn't object either, since she did feel more comfortable by the mother tree's side.
Sang Zhitao's days on the spaceship were extremely carefree, especially since she held a prestigious position and was a young child whom the Wind Elf clan had not seen for many years.
"Sylph, would you like some fruit? These are my treasured possessions." The speaker was General Eva, a woman with a muscular build.
This was a female sprite who made Sang Zhitao drool at first sight, especially her domineering aura, which made Sang Zhitao want to shout, "Sister, take me in!"
Yet this seemingly cold and domineering female general was now carefully holding Sang Zhitao, affectionately stuffing all the fruits she had treasured into her hands.
A tiger sniffing a rose! So adorable!
Sang Zhitao felt like her brain was screaming. Even though her reason told her that she was straight, looking at Eva, all she could think was, "My sexual orientation can be liberal!"
“Sylph?” Eva had no idea what image she had in Sang Zhitao’s mind. She only thought that the other party didn’t like her fruit, and a hint of disappointment appeared on her face.
Sang Zhitao secretly pinched her thigh to bring herself back to her senses. Only when she recalled Eva's ending in the book did she replace the "ahhh" in her mind with a deep sigh.
In the book, Eva dies on her escape, at the hands of a traitor.
traitor?
"That's right," Sang Zhitao patted her head. These days, she had been eating and sleeping all the time and had completely forgotten that there was a traitor among the elves.
Eva looked at her with a panicked expression; her face was deathly pale, as if she were terrified of something. She quickly and gently touched her head: "What's wrong, Sylph?"
Sang Zhitao looked up and saw her panicked expression. Suppressing her own fear, she patted the other's cheek and comforted her, "It's okay, Eva. It has nothing to do with you. I just had a nightmare that I couldn't stop thinking about. And the fruit is delicious."
Eva breathed a sigh of relief before stuffing the fruit back into her arms: "Then eat more."
"Okay, okay." Sang Zhitao forced herself to stay awake and chatted with her for a few more minutes before refusing to see anyone else and being taken to the treehouse on the mother tree.
Before falling asleep, Sang Zhitao habitually hugged the string of spirit stones in her arms before letting herself slowly drift off to sleep.
As soon as she returned to the Elf World, she asked Irene to do the stringing of the Elf Stones. She wanted to see if she could bring a single Elf Stone to Earth, and if a string of Elf Stones could go with her.
In my dream, the familiar green light appeared again...
