Chapter 23 Execution of the Traitor ~ "Hiss... my head hurts so much..."

"Hiss... My head hurts so much..." Sang Zhitao opened her eyes and couldn't help but let out a soft cry.

"Sylph!" Upon hearing her voice, Irene quickly sat down beside her.

"Yi Lei? What's wrong with me?" Sang Zhitao rubbed her temples and, with the other person's help, sat cross-legged on the huge pillow.

Yi Lei poured her a glass of water before saying, "Let her moisturize herself first."

Sang Zhitao obediently took the water cup, which was no bigger than her palm. After taking a few sips, she realized that it was her usual cup. Then she looked around and asked, "Where am I?"

Irene patted her head and said, "The back hall of the Mermaid Palace, the place where we lived before, is not very safe for the time being."

Thinking of the assassins she had seen before she lost consciousness, Sang Zhitao didn't even have time to drink her water before hurriedly asking, "Those...those assassins?"

Yi Lei carefully caught the small teacup that she almost knocked over, then patted her to comfort her, saying, "It's okay, it's okay, they've all been caught."

"Phew...that's good." Sang Zhitao breathed a sigh of relief. "Was anyone hurt?"

"Don't worry, no one is hurt." Yi Lei gently touched her before scolding her, "You were too reckless. What if we had arrived later? You would have lost too much blood... No way."

Sang Zhitao never expected that she would do such a thing back then, but if she had to choose again, she would still do it. After all, if she didn't do it, everyone would die together, but if she did it, there might be a glimmer of hope.

After giving her a few brief words, Irene said to her, "Fortunately, you've consumed quite a few spirit stones these days, so your blood has enough energy to support the protective shield."

"I feel fine now, except for a slight headache~" Sang Zhitao said with a flattering smile, not minding at all.

Irene rolled her eyes at her before saying irritably, "That's all thanks to the mermaid grass from the mermaid race."

Mermaid Grass?

This unfamiliar name piqued Sang Zhitao's curiosity, and she couldn't help but grab Yi Lei's clothes and press her for more information.

"Mermaid grass is a specialty of the mermaid race and is also known as the all-purpose grass. It can not only replenish energy but also heal wounds, even saving lives from the brink of death," Yi Lei explained.

"Wow, that's amazing! With the mermaid grass, wouldn't everything be foolproof?" Sang Zhitao exclaimed in surprise.

After thinking for a moment, Yi Lei said, "Not entirely."

She had barely finished speaking when she added, "However, that's not necessarily true, since no one has tried it before."

"Huh? Is it very precious?" Sang Zhitao asked curiously.

“That’s right, even among the mermaids, the mermaid grass is a treasure. We should thank the Mermaid King properly later,” said Yi Lei.

Sang Zhitao murmured, "If only I could take it back with me."

Irene didn't catch this remark and asked curiously, "What's wrong?"

Sang Zhitao quickly explained, "I mean, I've never seen anything so amazing before, and I'd really like to see it."

“Of course.” A voice broke the conversation between the two.

Sang Zhitao looked over curiously and saw a refined-looking man who turned to look at Yi Lei.

Irene stood up and introduced her, "This is the Mermaid King."

"Greetings, Your Majesty." Sang Zhitao stood on the pillow and bowed slightly in greeting.

"You're too kind, Elf Crown Prince." The Mermaid King nodded before continuing, "Since it's our first meeting, why don't you give the young crown prince some mermaid grass?"

After saying that, he waved his hand to stop Sang Zhitao from refusing, nodded to Yi Lei, and then waved for someone to bring over the things that had been prepared.

Sang Zhitao glanced at Yi Lei and saw that she seemed completely unsurprised. She was secretly astonished, but said nothing on the surface. She simply expressed her gratitude to the Mermaid King sweetly.

A moment later, a servant brought over a tray with an exquisite jewelry box on it.

The Mermaid King opened the jewelry box and took out an extremely exquisite blue rattan ring.

He pinched the ring, intending to slip it onto Sang Zhitao's hand, but after looking at her tiny hand, which was about the size of a fingernail, he hesitated before finally putting the ring on her wrist.

After examining Sang Zhitao's hand from all angles, he cast a spell to make the bracelet the right size before taking two steps back in satisfaction.

Sang Zhitao carefully examined the beautiful bracelet on her wrist and asked curiously, "Is this the mermaid grass?"

"Yes, this is a dormant state. If it encounters a crisis, a little water can revive it." The Mermaid King carefully explained the rules of use to her before nodding to Irene and leaving with his people.

Sang Zhitao watched him leave before turning to Yi Lei and asking somewhat puzzledly, "Did the Mermaid King just come to deliver something?"

Yi Lei squeezed her bracelet and replied nonchalantly, "It's okay, you don't need to worry about it."

Sang Zhitao glanced at her, feeling that there was some secret between Yi Lei and the Mermaid King, but... she looked at the mermaid grass on Yi Lei's slender wrist, which was less than the thickness of a finger, hesitated for a moment, and ultimately said nothing.

Irene didn't offer much explanation, but simply waved for a personal attendant to enter. Pointing to a gentle girl who resembled Nora in temperament, she introduced her, "This is your personal attendant. Her name is Chloe. She's quite skilled. Let her take care of you."

"Then... what about Nora?" Sang Zhitao looked at the girl and then at Yi Lei with some surprise.

Yi Lei smiled slightly before saying, "Wait a moment, I'll take you to see her."

Without much thought, Sang Zhitao ate some spirit stones and was then carried by Yi Lei to the accommodations arranged for them by the mermaids.

"Nora?" Sang Zhitao looked at the situation of being pressed to the ground and placed together with a group of men in black, somewhat incredulous.

Nora pursed her lips and looked down at the floor, never once looking up at her.

“Let’s begin.” Irene carried her to the seat of honor, coldly looking at the person kneeling on the ground, and said to Monark.

Monaark nodded and walked in front of Nora: "As Minister of the Interior, you betrayed your race and harmed the Crown Prince. Can you admit to this crime?"

Nora kept her head down, not uttering a single word, seemingly trying to resist the judgment with silence.

Monark ignored her and looked at the men in black: "Dark elf lackeys, they should be killed."

Irene seemed to think there was nothing to judge about the men in black, and nodded to Monark.

Monarque waved for several guards to take them away and deal with them before looking at Nora.

"Nora, why you?" Sang Zhitao now understood the whole story and looked at Nora in disbelief.

Nora looked up at her, hesitated for a long time, and then uttered, "I am pledging my loyalty to my master."

"So you choose betrayal? Even if your childhood friend dies in this war?"

Sang Zhitao's words seemed to shatter her composure. Nora looked at Eva with a pale face, then at Tina, before turning to look at Irene. However, after opening her mouth three times, she still didn't say anything.

"Yi Lei, have you caught the person behind her?" Sang Zhitao didn't say anything more to her. Thinking of the mastermind that everyone on Earth had deduced for her, she turned to look at Yi Lei.

Irene nodded and gestured to Monark.

Before long, Foreign Minister Aesop was pushed in in a disheveled state.

He looked at Nora kneeling on the ground with a grim expression and coldly uttered, "Useless."

Then, standing there without fear, he looked at Yi Lei and said, "The victor is king, the loser is villain."

Yi Lei looked at him for a long time before saying, "The reason."

Aesop gave a mocking laugh: "Of course, it's for supreme power."

"You want to devour the mother tree?" Yi Lei narrowed her eyes slightly, her fierceness barely concealed. But fearing she might frighten Sang Zhi Tao, she reached out and covered Sang Zhi Tao's head. "Or do you want to devour all of us?"

Aesop looked at her, slightly raised his chin, and said arrogantly, "It is an honor for the wind elf clan to become my stepping stone to the highest realm."

“You! Are! Not! Worthy!” Yi Lei replied, enunciating each word clearly.

Aesop's face immediately turned cold as he looked at her before saying, "I failed, not because of you, but because of an accident."

As he spoke, he pointed to Sang Zhitao: "If the prophesied daughter had not been born, then everything I did would have come true. The wind spirits would have died on the spirit planet, the mother tree would have been devoured by me, and I would have been able to ascend the supreme ladder."

Upon hearing the words "Daughter of Prophecy," Irene's face turned extremely ugly. She looked at Aesop coldly and replied, "Then go to Hell and ascend to the highest realm."

She had barely finished speaking when she was about to wave for Monaco to take the person away for processing.

But Aesop laughed wildly: "Hahaha, you can't punish me."

Yi Lei's expression changed drastically, and she spread her arms to protect Sang Zhitao behind her.

Monaco stepped forward, stood in front of her, and erected a protective shield to protect the two of them behind him. His tall figure also blocked Sang Zhitao's view.

"Bang!" A soft, faint explosion sounded.

After a while, Monark took a step to the side, retracted the protective shield, and gave way to the view.

Sang Zhitao then realized that Aesop was gone and there was no blood on the ground. She looked at Meng Ark in surprise before looking at Yi Lei.

How could Irene not notice the thirst for knowledge in her eyes? But she just smiled and didn't reply.

Seeing this, Sang Zhitao pursed her lips, then looked at Nora, and after thinking for a moment, asked, "Is Nora also to be executed?"

Irene asked her gently, "Sylph doesn't want to kill Nora?"

Sang Zhitao slowly shook her head. She wasn't that kind or even foolish. She didn't want to save the person who wanted her dead. She was just a little curious as to why Irene killed Aesop but let Nora go.

Seeing her shake her head, Irene couldn't help but smile before saying, "Nora will handle it later."

Seeing this, Sang Zhitao had no choice but to nod.

Thus, the crisis of betrayal from within the wind elves was completely resolved, and the elves bid farewell to the mermaids and continued their journey to the location of the intelligent race.

After seeing the elf off, the Mermaid King took Hara back to the Royal Palace study.

"Your Majesty, why did you send Princess Sia and Prince Laru together?" Hala looked at the Mermaid King with some confusion.

The Mermaid King sighed before saying, "According to the prophecy, our mermaid race will suffer heavy casualties, and perhaps only Raru will remain as a royal descendant. Even though the crisis has been resolved, I am still worried. Letting them stay is a way to leave them a way out."

"Then... why let Princess Sia go with us?" Hala was puzzled. If the prophecy said that Prince Laru would be the one to survive, it would be understandable to protect him. Why let Sia go with him?

The Mermaid King sighed, rubbed his temples, and said helplessly, "That girl ran away on her own. What can I do? Let it be."

Upon hearing this, Hala's lips twitched. He understood that this was something that Xiya was absolutely capable of doing. Thinking of the bizarre things Raru had done to chase after the elves, he couldn't help but sigh deeply.

The Mermaid King didn't notice his expression and only gave him a few simple instructions before letting him leave.

Sang Zhitao was naturally unaware of the reason why Xiya followed her. She was simply happy to have a playmate to keep her company. After all, the elves respected her greatly and were reluctant to play with her freely.

But West Asia is different; after all, she is a princess of another race and wouldn't care about such things.
