Chapter 122: Ni's Letter
Du Yong went to the town in Nuan's father's exclusive electric car. The silly smile on his face made the Liu family confused.
A few days later, the Liu family received an unexpected letter.
"Dad, whose letter is this? Why do my grandfather and Sister Yiqing seem so unhappy?"
"The letter was sent back by your sister Ni!"
Nuan's father squatted on the ground, took a breath, and spoke in a light tone.
"Sister Liu Ni. Liu Ni, Sister Yiqing's biological sister? Is she the Liu Ni that Zhang Ping traded for a bag of millet to a city dweller's foolish son as a child bride?"
Hearing his daughter talk about the feelings of the past, Nuan's father nodded in a bad mood.
Zhang Ping took the child back to her mother's home and secretly exchanged the child. When her grandfather found out and went to look for him, the family had already moved away.
Liu Xini was only 6 years old that year. Nearly ten years had passed in a flash, and the child suddenly sent a letter. Everyone felt an indescribable feeling in their hearts.
The letter from Ni was not written by her, but by her mother-in-law.
It turns out that Huanli's family had suddenly left because they were framed and forced to live on the farm. They had contacted the Liu family because Huanli was pregnant and life there was too hard. The family said they were worried about losing the baby, so they sent the letter out of desperation. As for why they hadn't sent it earlier or later, it was because the town's pharmaceutical company had developed a new drug that had been featured in the newspapers, generating such buzz that the family had finally considered contacting the Liu family.
"Dad, what are you thinking!"
"It's all the fault of that bastard, the eldest brother! That child, Ni, is also a pitiful one. San'er, look, how about..."
Before grandpa expressed his opinion, grandma was the first to lose her temper.
It's not that I'm a saint, it's just that when she was born, she was such a well-behaved child. Plus, she was so pretty, there was probably no family in the village that didn't want her. I guess that family was willing to trade such a large bag of millet for her during those years when they couldn't afford to eat, simply because she was so pretty.
"Okay, Mom, as long as you don't mind, I'll go to town and find out what's going on."
After staying in the town for several months, Nuanba had become quite fluent in Mandarin. He agreed, got up, put on a thick cotton-padded jacket, a hat and gloves, and rode his electric bike out.
The electric bike Nuanba rides isn't the original electric bicycle; it's Qin Zheng's latest four-wheeled snowmobile with a sled attached. Aside from being a bit cold on snowy days, Nuanba loves it. He uses it whenever he goes out or comes in.
After dinner, Nuan's father took out a piece of paper from his pocket. On it was a long paragraph of words, which hinted that he would take Ni and Ni's stupid man to Linjiang Village. The last signature was Shen Wenbin's.
"Is that all?"
Grandma looked surprised, and when Nuan's father heard this, a pitiful expression appeared on his face.
"How can that be enough? I have to go there myself and pick them both up."
It was snowing heavily, and if you stood outside for too long, your feet would freeze. No one on the farm wanted to endure such weather, so Nuan Dad had to take the trouble and go there himself.
"Third brother, thank you for your hard work. Come, have some chicken wings."
We had stewed chicken today. Grandma knew her oldest son was going to have a hard time on this trip, so she quickly picked out a piece of his favorite food for him.
Nuan's father was like a child who was praised by his mother, with his teeth showing and his eyes invisible.
