Chapter 8

Xie Shuci was completely bewildered by the sudden turn of events.

Li Xiao Shaxing's knees slammed heavily onto the ground with a "crack" sound. He immediately forgot to maintain his composure and half of his body collapsed at Xie Shuci's feet, his handsome face contorted in pain as he wailed loudly.

"Ouch...it hurts..." Li Xiaoshaxing almost cried from the pain. He looked up at Xie An in frustration, feeling both angry and helpless, and asked Xie Shuci, "He didn't do it on purpose, did he?"

Xie Shuci rolled her eyes at him, covered Xie An's hand, and patted it twice reassuringly to indicate that she was right next to him.

“Don’t judge a gentleman by your own standards. Little Blind… Xie An can’t see or hear, so he has no idea what’s going on. He used to be able to see, so he’s not used to it,” Xie Shuci explained.

Xie An held Xie Shuci's wrist, standing quietly to the side with his head down, completely unaware of what was happening around him.

Li Xiao Shaxing pouted in frustration, got up from the ground, sat down and used his spiritual power to heal himself, occasionally glancing at Xie An with a suspicious look and muttering some complaints.

"Hey," Xie Shuci kicked his clothes, "Can you still stand up?"

Li Xiao Shaxing said irritably, "I have a name!"

Xie An suddenly tugged at Xie Shuci's hand. Xie Shuci turned her head to look at him, only to see Xie An's lips part as he asked, "What trouble did you encounter? Are you injured?"

It would have been better if he hadn't mentioned it, because just thinking about Xie Shuci made his back burn with pain. He grabbed Xie An's hand and put it to his lips, saying, "It's nothing, a gust of wind just blew it away."

Xie An: "..."

Xie Shuci was certain it wasn't his imagination; he saw a hint of speechlessness on Xie An's expressionless face.

Li Xiao Shaxing was also speechless. He looked up at them and his gaze immediately stopped at Xie Shuci's lips.

Xie Shuci held the boy's hand to his lips, each breath falling on the boy's skin. When he spoke, his soft lips brushed against the boy's hand.

The boy seemed to be used to his closeness, and there was not a trace of awkwardness on his face.

For some unknown reason, Li Xiao Shaxing's ears suddenly turned red, and he muttered under his breath, "Shameless..."

"I can't see, don't lie to me. Are you injured?" Xie An didn't believe his words, frowned slightly, and lowered his hand to feel Xie Shuci's body.

Before Xie Shuci could stop him, Xie An pressed his hand on the right shoulder blade of Xie Shuci's back. Xie Shuci shuddered in pain, and the latter immediately withdrew his hand, looking serious.

"No..." Xie Shuci subconsciously wanted to explain that being injured was not something to be proud of. Although he was a bit of a coward, he still cared a lot about his reputation.

But after saying just one word, he suddenly remembered that Xie An couldn't hear him, so he didn't continue.

Xie An seemed somewhat angry, his brows and eyes frosty. He gently traced a circle around Xie Shuci's injured back with his slender fingers, probably trying to determine the extent of the injury by observing Xie Shuci's reaction.

Xie Shuci was in excruciating pain where Xie An touched him, but he gritted his teeth and endured it without moving. Apart from the butterfly bone that Xie An touched first, he didn't react at all.

Li Xiao Shaxing watched Xie An stroking Xie Shuci's back, his thoughts already soaring to the heavens.

Xie Shuci drugged him and almost...

Now he's behaving intimately with another person, he's absolutely despicable!

Xie Shuci was unaware that the image he had painstakingly built in Li Xiaoshaxing's mind was crumbling away again.

"I'm not seriously injured, I just bumped my shoulder," Xie Shuci said, pressing his hand against Xie An's.

Xie An's expression grew even colder, and he unexpectedly raised his hand and slapped Xie Shuci on the back.

"Holy crap!" Xie Shuci almost jumped up from the spot, his well-behaved face scrunched up like a bun. "You're really going to hit me?"

Li Xiao Shaxing chuckled, "Serves you right!"

Knowing that he was hiding something from him, Xie An didn't even want to say a word.

He tightened his jawline, turned Xie Shuci's hand over, and wrote in his palm: "You think I'm blind, you don't tell me anything, and one day you'll die in front of me and I won't even know."

Xie Shuci felt a warm glow inside when he saw that Xie An was genuinely angry, but it was because he cared about him. He took Xie An's hand and brought it to his lips, saying, "It's not as serious as you say. Don't worry, I'm really fine."

The blind man's expression left no room for argument: "Go to the clinic."

Xie Shuci nodded. "Okay, I'll have Adong take you back to your room."

Xie An raised his head, gesturing for him to hurry up.

Xie Shuci called over Adong from the backyard and gave him a few instructions to take Xie An back to his room.

He then walked over to Li Xiao Shaxing and saw that he was still sitting on the ground. He guessed that he had fallen quite hard, so he stretched out a hand to him and asked, "Young Master Li, can you get up?"

Li Xiao Shaxing looked up at the fair hand in front of him, the warmth still lingering on his ears, and disdainfully turned his face to the side, "No need."

Then he used his own strength to stand up.

Xie Shuci rolled her eyes and said, "Don't worry, I really don't have any other thoughts about you. I was out of my mind that day, you know? I saw that you bumped into something pretty badly, you might have broken a bone. You should go to the clinic to get it checked out. Don't end up crippled or anything, or your Li family will come after me."

At this point, Xie Shuci couldn't help but sigh.

The original owner's cultivation level was barely even that of a novice. What would he do if he encountered any trouble in the future, especially since he had a blind child with him?

Having been here for so many days, Xie Shuci hadn't had a chance to inquire about Xiao Xun. Who knew if he might run into that wicked star one day and get chopped up by him without warning?

Xie Shuci's thinking wasn't without reason; after all, that ruthless villain never needed a reason to kill people. Xie Shuci needed to know what he looked like and where he was so he could take the little blind boy and keep him at a distance.

On the way to the clinic with Li Xiaoshaxing, Xie Shuci asked casually, "Young Master Li, do you know this person, Xiao Xun?"

Li Xiao Shaxing said with a dark face, "Stop calling me 'Young Master,' it's annoying me."

Xie Shuci said, "I don't know your name."

Upon hearing this, Li Xiao Shaxing was instantly enraged. "You don't even know my name, and you did... did that kind of thing to me?"

Hearing him bring it up again, Xie Shuci guiltily touched the tip of his nose and chuckled awkwardly, "I was just bewitched. As the saying goes, no fight, no friendship. Can we not mention that again? It's so embarrassing."

Li Xiaoshaxing instinctively wanted to retort, but then felt he shouldn't. This whole thing was already shameful, and he couldn't swallow his pride. He sneered, "Xie Shuci, you know it's shameful? I heard you were once involved with several women at the same time..."

"Stop, stop! Didn't we agree not to mention it?" Xie Shuci really didn't want to recall the stupid things the original owner of the body did; it was the only stain on his reputation as a model young man.

Xie Shuci said solemnly, "I have turned over a new leaf and decided to become a man who is not burdened by personal feelings. What are women? I want to dedicate my life to the people, I want to selflessly dedicate myself to them, this is my mission as a man!"

Li Xiao Shaxing: "..."

He felt a chill and quickly stopped Xie Shuci from speaking: "Shut up. My surname is Li, and my given name is Song."

"Oh..." Xie Shuci nodded.

He hadn't finished reading the original book; he found the protagonist's personality too dark and a bit scary halfway through, so he dropped it. However, in the plot he'd read, none of the supporting characters involved in the power struggle between the main characters seemed to be named Li Song. This indicated that he had no connection to the original plot, so it was safe to befriend him.

"You still haven't answered me. Do you know Xiao Xun?" Xie Shuci asked.

When this person was mentioned, Li Song's expression gradually became serious. After a long while, he said, "No one in the cultivation world doesn't know him."

"What happened to him? What earth-shattering thing did he do?" Xie Shuci didn't know which timeline in the original book they were in, so he tried to deduce it based on that.

Li Song said, "He was originally a once-in-a-millennium genius in the cultivation world, with exceptional talent. It can be said that he has received much attention since his birth and is expected to be the next 'leader of a hundred sects'."

The "Head of a Hundred Sects" is, as the name suggests, the most outstanding disciple among the countless immortal sects in the cultivation world.

Xie Shuci remembered that in the original book, Xiao Xun didn't care about the position at first. It was only later that a male protagonist suddenly appeared, and the two disliked each other, causing each other trouble both openly and secretly. When the male protagonist heard that Xiao Xun was highly anticipated, he set his sights on the position; when Xiao Xun saw that he wanted the position, he naturally couldn't let him take it.

However, they had not earned this position until Xie Shu resigned from his writing job.

Li Song continued, "But Xiao Xunjian takes an unorthodox approach. Not only is he gloomy and ruthless, but his cultivation path is also different from others."

Aren't they quite different? Xiao Xun cultivates the Way of Slaughter, proving his Dao through slaughter; the more people he kills, the higher his cultivation level becomes.

"However, half a year ago, he forced his way into the Xiaoyao Sect, injuring four elders and countless disciples, and burning one of the sect's secret treasures. Since then, he has disappeared without a trace. The sect leader of the Xiaoyao Sect led people to the Xiao family to seek justice, but was told that they had already expelled Xiao Xun from the family. Without the protection of the Xiao family, Xiao Xun was hunted down by the Xiaoyao Sect and several other immortal sects, but there is still no trace of him."

After listening, Xie Shuci lowered his head thoughtfully.

The original book begins with Xiao Xun being hunted down by the Xiaoyao Sect. After hiding for a year and learning secret techniques, he re-emerges into the martial world.

At that time, his cultivation was so advanced that he killed anyone who stood in his way, and he had become one of the top figures among the younger generation of cultivators. Moreover, he was re-acknowledged by the Xiao family a few days later.

Therefore, in the current timeline, Xiao Xun will have to cultivate in some remote corner for another six months before he appears.

Xie Shuci felt much relieved and casually asked, "Do you have a portrait of him?"

Li Song glanced at him. "Are you crazy? He was once the young master of the Xiao family, one of the four great immortal sects. How could his portrait just be left out in the open?"

Xie Shuci thought about it and realized it made sense; at least he could finally put his mind at ease.

"Why are you asking about him?" Li Song asked suspiciously.

Xie Shuci raised an eyebrow at him, teasing him on purpose: "I heard he's extremely good-looking, can't I be curious?"

Li Song's face turned green. "Disgusting!"

When Li Song left the clinic, he received a message and was called away by his fellow disciple. Xie Shuci then returned to the inn by himself.

When he returned to the inn, the lobby was completely restored, showing no signs of the fierce battle that had taken place there.

Ah Dong, holding a candied hawthorn in one hand and a windmill in the other, sat in front of the counter, having a great time.

The innkeeper was calculating today's losses on his abacus, and he sighed from time to time. Although Li Song had lost a lot, the inn was deserted and there wasn't a single customer after the fight.

"Young Master Xie is back? How is your injury?" The shopkeeper looked up and saw him, and asked.

Xie Shuci shook his head. Actually, it wasn't a big deal. The old doctor rubbed him with a blood-activating and stasis-removing ointment for about half an hour, and he was almost fully recovered.

"What's a little injury to a man like me?" Xie Shuci said smugly.

The shopkeeper was all smiles and hurriedly beckoned him over.

"Young Master Xie, thank you for saving my son today. I didn't intend to get involved in your affairs, but there's something I'd like to remind you of."

The shopkeeper's expression was not very pleasant when he said this.

Xie An, who was with Xie Shuci, did not seem as weak as he appeared.

The Xie An in front of Xie Shuci was a completely different person from the Xie An in front of others. Although he did not know the relationship between the two, it was still necessary for him to be a little wary.

"What?" Xie Shuci asked, puzzled.

The shopkeeper lowered his voice and said, "The one next to you..."

His voice stopped abruptly. Xie Shuci looked up in confusion and saw him staring at something behind him, his face pale.

Xie Shuci turned around and found Xie An standing quietly in the pavilion.
