Chapter 14: Are You Alive?

Chapter 14: Are You Alive?

Chu Ran turned around in panic.

Guo Maoxue stood at the door, holding the package that Chu Ran was so familiar with.

The nerves in his brain felt like they were struck by a strong electric current and were numb. Chu Ran felt his face was so stiff that it seemed not his own. His lips trembled and his legs shook uncontrollably as he stood up.

Guo Maoxue narrowed his eyes with a dangerous smile on his lips.

After a while, Chu Ran's facial features, which seemed to be frozen stiff, squeezed out a slightly distorted smile.

"Eunuch Guo, you were out, why are you back so soon?"

"Why, are you expecting us to come back later?"

"How, how could this be?" Chu Ran's face was stiff with a smile, his mind was completely confused, as if he didn't know how to deal with it next. Chu Ran turned around with his body stiff. Not only was his voice not his own, but even his body didn't feel like his own.

"I have something else to do, so I'll leave first..."

He had just taken two steps when someone suddenly grabbed the back of his collar and pulled him back. Guo Maoxue stood with his back against the wall, strangling Chu Ran's neck with both hands. Chu Ran's eyes rolled back and he could hardly breathe.

Guo Maoxue's voice filled with tremendous anger almost exploded in Chu Ran's ears.

"You son of a bitch, how dare you deceive my family? You've brought this upon my family, do you want to die?"

Chu Ran had tears in his eyes. The blood in his blood vessels was divided into two halves. The blood rushed to the blood vessels in his brain, but could not flow back down, so that blood accumulated in his head. Every capillary seemed to be filled with blood. Chu Ran's face soon turned into a deep liver color.

His wide-open eyeballs were also filled with bright red bloodshot.

Chu Ran wanted to fight, but he was thin and malnourished. If he was an 18-year-old high school boy, he would have the strength to compete with Guo Maoxue, who was in his prime. But now Chu Ran was just a weakling. In Guo Maoxue's eyes, his struggle was nothing but a drop in the bucket.

The arm that was strangling Chu Ran's neck loosened abruptly, and Chu Ran took a deep breath. Before he could react, Guo Maoxue pushed Chu Ran to the table. Chu Ran's soft abdomen was pressed tightly against the edge of the table, squeezing his chest. It was as if Guo Maoxue was pressing down on him from behind, and the bulging blood vessel in the middle of Chu Ran's forehead was throbbing with pain.

He strangled Chu Ran's neck with his arms again, and then, when Chu Ran felt that he was about to suffocate to death, he loosened his arms a little to let Chu Ran breathe, and then strangled again, and loosened them again, as if he was torturing him.

When Guo Maoxue let go of Chu Ran again, crystal tears immediately burst out of Chu Ran's eyes and splashed onto the table, like a few drops of water gushing out of a water gun.

Chu Ran leaned half of his body on the table, his mouth wide open, his eyes red, and he was gasping for breath.

It hurts so much.

The pressure in his chest was so severe that it felt like he had been hit hard on the head with an iron fist, and it seemed as if his internal organs were about to burst from the inside out. No scars could be seen because it felt more like internal injuries.

Guo Maoxue once again tightened his grip on Chu Ran's neck, and this time, he tightened it even more, as if he wanted to strangle Chu Ran to death.

Chu Ran's neck was forced to rise up and his lips slightly opened, hoping to breathe in some fresh oxygen from the squeezed and narrow trachea.

But the oxygen became scarce, he seemed to be breathing in nothing, yet also seemed to be breathing in only a very little.

“Boom.”

There was a muffled sound behind my ears.

The two iron-like arms that were tightly strangling Chu Ran's neck suddenly loosened, and Chu Ran immediately fell limply on the table, with tears in his eyes and rapid breathing.

"How are you?"

Li Fu walked over and placed one hand lightly on Chu Ran's back, his tone and expression were cold and not suitable for his age.

Chu Ran turned his head and saw Li Fu suddenly appear. He mumbled a few times with a sore throat, as if he wanted to say something to him. But soon, Chu Ran noticed Guo Maoxue lying on the ground and the large pool of blood behind his head. There was even a blood-stained stone thrown on the ground by Li Fu not far away.

"You..." Chu Ran hadn't had time to wipe away the tears in his eyes, "...what happened to him?"

After a moment, Chu Ran seemed to realize something, "Is he dead?"

Li Fu turned around and stared at the silent Guo Maoxue for a while, remaining silent.

Chu Ran pushed him and asked anxiously, "Is he dead?"

Li Fu pursed his lips and said, "I don't know."

Chu Ran quickly pushed Li Fu away, ignoring the pain in his body, and was about to squat down to feel Guo Maoxue's breath. Li Fu grabbed Chu Ran's arm and said, "I'll do it."

Chu Ran looked at Li Fu blankly.

Li Fu didn't show much expression, and the fingers he stretched out were still steady. Even his face didn't show any fear or terror at all.

"Are you alive?" Chu Ran leaned half of his body on the table, one hand still tightly grasping the edge of the table, but his voice was shaking abnormally.

Li Fu squatted down, his eyes flickered, and he said, "Not dead."

Chu Ran seemed to have suddenly lost all his strength and sat down on the ground.

Chu Ran glanced at Guo Maoxue and saw that the back of his head seemed to still be bleeding, so he couldn't help but ask, "Is this okay? His wound has been bleeding, nothing will happen to him in the end, right?"

Li Fu said, "No."

Li Fu's tone was so certain and decisive that Chu Ran, who was frightened, easily believed what Li Fu said.

If he said it would be alright, then it should be alright.

Finally, Chu Ran realized something belatedly. He looked up at Li Fu, his face extremely pale with fear.

"What should I do? He already knows that I lied to him. When he wakes up, he will definitely not let me go. Will he kill me?"

Chu Ran didn’t know what would happen to him after he died in this world. Would he return to his original world or really die? He didn’t dare to take the risk.

Li Fu looked at him and remained silent.

Chu Ran lowered his head and couldn't help but put his fingers into his hair, scratching his scalp in annoyance.

If he knew the final result would be like this, he would be more careful and would definitely not expose such a big flaw like he does now.

It's all his fault. He was too careless.

Chu Ran thought nervously and anxiously, and his scalp began to hurt from scratching it.
