Chapter 19 Seems to be taken care of
Chu Ran was promoted recently, from the lowest-ranking eunuch to the next level. Originally, Chu Ran was responsible for washing clothes for high-ranking eunuchs in the palace, and occasionally he also needed to clean the toilets. Chu Ran could accept washing clothes, but cleaning the toilets was what Chu Ran could not stand the most. Fortunately, he had endured it for so long, and Chu Ran finally made it.
Now, Chu Ran changed his cleaning task to cleaning. He only needed to clean the area he was in charge of every day, and then the whole day's work was completed.
Cleaning is not as tiring as doing laundry, and the most important thing is that you can move around instead of sitting in one place all the time.
Chu Ran waved the broom in his hand to sweep the debris on the road. He came to sweep the floor early in the morning, and now there was only a little left, so his work for the day was completed.
So Chu Ran increased his speed and swept quickly with his head down. Suddenly, Chu Ran stopped. In his lowered sight, he saw a man sitting on a stone, who seemed to be taking a rest.
Chu Ran raised his head and saw that the person sitting on the stone was the old female supervisor with inconvenient legs and feet whom Chu Ran met on the road a month ago.
"What's wrong? Your legs hurt again?"
Chu Ran asked, leaning on the broom in his hands.
The old lady rubbed her knees and looked up at Chu Ran with a cold look.
This damn old eunuch is rolling her eyes at him?
Believe it or not...
never mind.
Considering his age, Chu Ran decided not to bother with him.
Chu Ran glanced at him, turned around and prepared to leave.
"Wait a minute."
Chu Ran stopped and turned back, "What's wrong?"
The old lady said, "I can't walk anymore, come and carry me."
Chu Ran was speechless for a while, but still walked towards the old eunuch.
"Help me hold the broom." Chu Ran stretched out his hand and handed his broom to the old lady.
The old lady hesitated for a moment, then raised her hand and took the broom.
Chu Ran turned around, facing away from the old lady, squatted down again, and said without any emotion: "Come up."
The old eunuch stood up with difficulty. She grabbed Chu Ran's shoulders with both hands, and soon, Chu Ran carried her on his back.
"I don't know where you live. Please show me the way."
The old lady supervisor asked Chu Ran to go straight for a while, then said it was wrong and he should turn left. After Chu Ran turned left, she said it was still wrong and he should turn right.
Chu Ran stopped and said to the old lady on his back, "You don't even know where you live?"
The old lady shouted loudly, in a matter-of-fact tone: "I am old! What if my memory is not good? Hurry up! It will be dark soon!"
He wasn't angry yet, but he was furious.
Chu Ran had no choice but to continue moving forward.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, the old lady suddenly cried out in surprise, "Ahhh! We are going the wrong way! This is not the way! This is the other way. We are going back!"
Chu Ran: "Do you know where you live?"
The old lady supervisor said: "They all said they were too old to remember clearly."
I can't remember where this is, I simply can't remember it.
How come this old lady supervisor has such a bad memory?
"Forget it. I'm tired. Just carry me back to your place."
Chu Ran sighed. This was the only way. He couldn't just leave him here alone.
So Chu Ran had no choice but to carry the old eunuch back to his own residence.
As soon as he put the old eunuch down, she immediately saw the recliner in the yard, so he sat on it directly.
Chu Ran was also very tired. He sat down on a stool next to him and prepared to rest for a while.
The stool under her buttocks had not yet warmed up. The old lady lay leisurely on the recliner and spoke again, "I'm thirsty. Go and make me a pot of tea."
Chu Ran got up and went into the house. Not long after, Chu Ran came out of the house carrying a pot of hot tea.
The old lady took the teapot and poured herself a cup of hot tea. After taking a sip, she immediately showed a look of disgust on her face, "What kind of tea is this? It's so unpalatable. Ugh."
He spat out a few tea leaves and put the tea down again.
Chu Ran sat aside and watched, thinking that this old eunuch was quite difficult to serve.
"Well, this tea doesn't taste good. Go make some better tea."
Chu Ran said: "I only have this kind of tea. If you don't want to drink it, don't drink it."
The old lady was silent.
Chu Ran started to busy himself with his own things.
He changed into clean clothes and put the new clothes in a wooden basin, planning to rub them with some water later.
After putting away the dirty clothes, Chu Ran went out carrying the wooden bucket.
He walked to the well and was about to draw half of the water when Li Fu happened to be walking towards this side. When Li Fu saw him, he lent a hand and helped Chu Ran pull the bucket out of the well.
The two of them walked back together carrying the wooden bucket.
Chu Ran went out alone, but when he came back, there were two of them. The old eunuch stood up slightly from the recliner and looked at the child next to Chu Ran.
But the moment he saw Li Fu, Zhao Zhongyi narrowed his eyes slightly.
Putting the wooden barrel down, Li Fu raised his head and looked at the other person who suddenly appeared in the yard.
The old man and the young man looked at each other, and Li Fu glanced at Zhao Zhongyi coldly.
Chu Ran raised his head and noticed Li Fu's gaze, so he approached Li Fu and whispered, "This old eunuch has a bad memory and problems with his legs. He can't remember where he lives, so I brought him back first."
Li Fu hummed and withdrew his cold and scrutinizing gaze from Zhao Zhongyi.
"What's wrong with your hand?" Li Fu asked.
Chu Ran opened his palm, and then he noticed that the skin on his palm had been broken without him noticing.
But for Chu Ran, these are just minor injuries and not a big deal.
"I didn't notice it. Maybe I accidentally scratched it when I was sweeping the floor just now. It's nothing serious."
As he said that, Chu Ran prepared to sit on the stool and wash the clothes first.
"I'll help you wash." Li Fu grabbed Chu Ran's arm and said.
"No need." Chu Ran shook off Li Fu's hand that was grabbing him, raised his other hand, and said while rolling up his sleeves, "I can wash it."
But his arm was grabbed again by Li Fu's hand.
Chu Ran froze, he turned his head and looked at Li Fu. After a moment, Chu Ran pursed his lips and said, "Don't you know how to wash?"
Xing Ji washed Li Fu's clothes, so Li Fu didn't know how to wash clothes.
"You will learn it if you try hard." said Li Fu.
After saying this, Li Fu sat down on the stool.
Chu Ran watched Li Fu put his hands into the cool well water and clumsily knead the clothes in the wooden basin. The more Chu Ran watched, the more he felt that it was not very effective.
He couldn't explain it clearly, but he felt something was wrong. It might be because Li Fu was only twelve years old, or it might be that he was obviously older than Li Fu, but he always felt that the younger Li Fu seemed to be taking care of him. Or maybe it was that the future villain boss was condescending to wash his clothes this time. Chu Ran felt inexplicably shocked.
He felt that this was not something Li Fu should do.
"never mind."
Chu Ran bent down, held Li Fu's wrist, frowned and said, "Soak it first, and wash it tomorrow."
Li Fu asked back: "Will your hand be healed tomorrow?"
