32. Chapter 32 Premonition

Chapter 32 Precognition

In the days that followed, Luka came to Qiao Suisui's bedroom almost every day, sometimes during the day, sometimes at night. Meanwhile, Liberi came less often. Every time he came to check on her, he'd see that she was fine and then leave in a hurry, seemingly busy. The two men seemed to have discussed this matter together, but neither of them had ever spoken to the other.

In addition, the emperor repeatedly sent people to ask if she had any needs in life, if there were any items that needed to be purchased for the baby, etc. She understood that this was a subtle reminder for her to give an answer.

When she sent someone to convey her wish to meet Lan Ze, the emperor quickly arranged it.

The meeting between the two was scheduled in the library of the imperial court. When Qiao Susu was brought in by the servants, she was so surprised that she couldn't close her mouth.

It is called a library, but it is actually more like a museum. Each exhibition hall is restored one-to-one according to the timeline from the dinosaur era, the human era to the rise of the interstellar space. Especially the ancient blue planet era, the simulated scenes inside are almost the same as Qiao Susuo's life before she traveled through time.

She stood in front of the huge glass and was unconsciously attracted by the layout inside, feeling very familiar.

"Is this your world?"

A pleasant voice appeared behind her. Qiao Susu turned around and saw a thin young man slowly walking down the spiral staircase.

He had a very tall and straight figure, but looked very thin compared to other males. His skin was the kind of white that comes from not seeing the sun for years, and his short, neat dark blue hair.

When Qiao Susu saw his face, she couldn't help but sigh that if this guy had debuted in her era, he would have been a top star.

Because that face is so great.

Unlike Luca's handsomeness or Labrie's dandy styling, his face was unforgettable. Unfortunately, his eyes were like a pool of stagnant water, completely unfocused.

Lan Ze walked down and stopped a few steps away from Qiao Susu, and did not move forward.

"If you like, you can come here often. There are usually not many people here."

Before Qiao Susu came, she had heard that Lan Ze didn't like socializing and didn't often interact with people. He was usually either in his own bedroom or in the library. This was why she had never seen him in the imperial court for so many days.

"You've probably heard about it," she said straight to the point. "I want to know what you think about it."

Lan Ze was stunned for a moment, then shook his head and chuckled.

"It's really unfair to you to let me be your first spouse."

Sui Sui tilted her head, knowing that he couldn't see so she looked at his expression unscrupulously. Seeing that he didn't say this insincerely or self-deprecatingly, but was refreshing and frank, she couldn't help but feel a little more favorable towards him.

"I want you to be my first spouse," she said.

Lan Ze was surprised. He didn't expect her to say that. He thought Qiao Sui Sui was coming to express her refusal because her father was the elder and the emperor, and it was difficult for her to refuse, so she came to him to say it in person.

He understood his father's intentions and the importance of offspring to the family, but he didn't like to force things. It was a waste to try to occupy the precious position of the first mate of a viviparous female with his own conditions. He had been without senses since childhood, unable to taste anything, unable to smell anything. But these were minor matters. At first, he couldn't hear anything. It was only after his father had an artificial ear canal implanted in him that he realized the world had sound. Later, as he grew up, he gradually gained the ability to perceive his surroundings with his mental power. Although this could partially replace his visual function, he never saw color and could only use his mental power to depict the shapes of people and things. These weren't the most terrifying things. The most terrifying thing was that he had no sense of pain.

This made it impossible for him to avoid danger and protect himself in time almost every time he encountered danger from childhood to adulthood. He even didn't realize he was injured and almost died.

Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise, as he awakened his gift – precognition – at the age of ten.

At first, he could only predict minor things, such as a possible scratch the next day, which could lead to complications if not treated in time. After he foresaw this, he began to try to avoid it, and sure enough, the rusty nail didn't scratch him. When he realized he could change the future, he was undoubtedly excited.

But he soon stopped being happy about this talent, because he began to be able to predict the fate of others. Even if they just passed by, even if they just stood together and breathed, even if someone just walked into the range of his mental power, he would uncontrollably and quickly see through that person's life.

He remembered the first time he saw the fate of the servant who had accompanied him since childhood, he collapsed. He tried everything to save his life and delay that day, but he discovered a cruel truth: he could only change his own future through foresight, but the fate of others was completely unchangeable. Even if he warned them, it would only backfire.

He hated his own talent, so he began to withdraw from people and met as few people as possible. Because he knew everyone's end, he didn't dare to develop feelings for anyone, because he was afraid of that feeling of powerlessness, that feeling of knowing what would happen to someone in the future, but being unable to do anything and could only watch it happen.

"So, I want to ask you what you think." Qiao Suisui saw that he was lost in thought and slowly told him the purpose of her visit. "Are you willing?"

"What?"

A look of surprise still lingered on his face. Although he had clearly heard her words, his mind was completely blank, and he couldn't react at all. The only female he had ever come into contact with was Isabel, and the number of times he had come into contact with her could be counted on one hand. Facing the courtship words of this little female in front of him, Lan Ze's ears instantly turned red.

"You, you mean, let me, let me be your spouse?"

"Yes, the first spouse." Qiao Susu emphasized.

"Why?"

"I need a home."

"Home?"

A 'home' built by her, where she sets the rules and has absolute control.

Perhaps it would be more appropriate to call it a base.

During the days she'd been in this other world, Qiao Suisui had thought it through thoroughly. Relying on anyone would eventually become unreliable. Living in Luka's annex, Zongfang and the Federation could easily take her away. Living in a cage built by Zongfang, she was completely at his mercy, devoid of any freedom. Living in the Imperial Court, even if Liberi could temporarily protect her, the Emperor would still be able to manipulate her with Luka's future as a condition. Therefore, only by having her own world could she achieve relative freedom.

Lan Ze didn't know what Qiao Susu was really thinking. He just kept muttering the word "home", and his face was visibly getting redder.

Qiao Susu took the initiative to walk forward and approached him. After two steps, she entered his mental power range unknowingly.

Lan Ze suddenly stopped, and many scenes flashed before his eyes unexpectedly.

He was breathing heavily, clutching his clothes tightly on his chest. His blue eyes were as calm as the sea, but his heart was as turbulent as a strong wind and huge waves.

"you"
