Chapter 79 The Same Night Sky
Qiao Suisui was startled. She didn't expect him to talk to her. After all, he ignored her twice before when she approached him. She slowly moved over and took in the surroundings. It was clean and bright. There was a south-facing room with a terrace. If it was tidied up, it would be very romantic. She could sit on the terrace, bask in the sun, drink tea, and grow some plants.
Anubis stood aside and waited for her to observe the environment. He saw that she liked the room with a terrace but did not express her opinion.
"You choose first, I'm fine with either." Qiao Susu stood aside a little distant and said politely.
Anubis said nothing and went straight into another room, which was about the same size, but without a terrace and not much sunlight.
Qiao Susu was a little surprised. She tilted her head, wondering if Anubis had intentionally given the good room to her.
She followed him, but stopped short when she reached his door.
"Um. Are you sure you want this room? It's next to the corridor and it's noisy."
Anubis hummed, threw his bag on the chair, and casually took off his shirt, revealing his muscular waist.
Qiao Suisui forgot to react to the sudden action, and was caught off guard by the sight of his powerful back. The boy's back muscles flowed smoothly, with a narrow waist and a wide back, and two sexy dimples near the belt. His arms were tattooed with patterns and words she couldn't understand.
"Anything else?" Anubis turned around and saw her still standing there. He threw his dirty clothes onto the back of the chair and walked to the door, looking down at her. "Do you want this one?"
"No, not me." Qiao Susu forgot what she was going to say.
This won't do. It's only the first day, she can't act like a girl!
She cleared her throat and pretended to be calm, saying, "Thanks, brother." Then she raised her hand and patted Anubis's shoulder stiffly and nervously. Because she was not tall enough, she secretly stood on tiptoe.
Anubis glanced over his shoulder in confusion, then watched as she quickly slipped back into the room and closed the door. The entire process was so smooth and seamless, it gave the impression of a panicked escape. He shook his head and chuckled, but then a thought occurred to him, and his smile faded. He restrained his expression and stared at the closed door with a complicated look.
Behind the door, Qiao Susu covered her chest and let out a long sigh. She seemed to be distracted for some reason, and then she shook her head violently and patted her cheeks.
"Qiao Suisui, wake up! The prettier the mushrooms are, the more poisonous they are." She warned herself.
In the evening, she sorted out her daily necessities, had video calls with Luka and Liberi respectively, and replied to the message that Zongfang had left for her.
Zong Fang told Qiao Suisui everything he had to deal with when he returned to Sote, when he would finish, and so on. Finally, he asked her to wear the ring at all times every day because he could see her physical condition in real time. Qiao Suisui knew that although he didn't say it, he was actually very worried about her pregnancy.
After reporting her safety, she was about to log out when she saw eleven missed calls, all from a domain name with a garbled ID. Bewildered, she calmly called back.
"Hello, who are you?"
There was silence for a moment, then a voice said, "Fuck."
Qiao Suisui was a little confused. Just as she was about to hang up, she heard a man's voice: "Who are you? Where is she?"
Qiao Suisui blinked, looked at the audio band on the computer, and asked, "Karl?"
She hadn't yet removed the effects of the voice-changing pill. Luka and the others had heard it, but Karl didn't know, so he thought someone else was using her laptop to answer the call. Qiao Suisui briefly explained.
"You pressed the bomb button on your laptop. Will it explode if you pick it up?"
At this time, if he didn't answer the call, and when he did, it was a man, and a voice he had never heard of before, it was hard for Carl not to think about other things. He almost wanted to rush in and beat someone up.
"I've been busy just now."
The man's voice became cheerful. "Do you remember my voice?"
"I didn't hear it, I guessed."
"You guessed it was me?"
"Because you're the only person I know who talks that badly."
β.β
There was silence on the other end, followed by a sigh.
"Still mad at me?"
"Hmm? What do you mean?"
Qiao Susu didn't follow his train of thought. After asking, she remembered that he was referring to what he said in the space. She was about to say that she didn't remember anything, but the voice on the other end suddenly became dull: "You might as well be angry with me." It's better than forgetting him completely.
"What can I do for you?"
Hearing her somewhat distant tone, Karl felt like he had eaten a basket of unripe apricots in his mouth, and the sour feeling spread all the way to his heart and then flowed into his stomach.
During the time he was injured, she hadn't visited him, hadn't asked a single question. That was fine; it was his fault for being so rude, and he knew he deserved it. But she had left without a word, without a single goodbye. Even the three interstellar cleaners who had moved in after her knew where she was. He was the only one in the building who didn't know. And there was a robot that looked like a trash can that followed him around every day.
"I want to complain."
"What's the complaint?"
βThe pillows in my room are uncomfortable to sleep on.β
Qiao Suisui was speechless, "Go to 6867."
"I also want to complain to 6869. It doesn't understand human language."
"Shall we change your room?"
"No."
"So how do you want to deal with this?"
"Let me see you."
Qiao Suisui felt that this bastard was being unreasonable. She suppressed her temper and said, "I can't go back now. Let's go this weekend."
"Qiao Suisui."
The audio band on the optical computer was still, and the man opposite paused for a few seconds.
Karl raised his head, brought the light brain to his mouth, and spoke in a low and slow voice, with a hint of imperceptible tenderness and caution: "Stand by the window."
Qiao Suisui didn't understand what was going on, but she wanted to end the call as soon as possible, so she did as she was told. She walked barefoot onto the terrace.
"Is that all right?"
"Hello?"
"Karl?"
Qiao Suisui looked at the computer on her wrist. It showed she was on a call, but the audio frequency didn't fluctuate, meaning the person on the other end wasn't talking. Just as she was about to hang up, a voice came through the computer again.
"Today's energy has been replenished, you can go in." The man's voice was very low, without the previous cynicism, but with a kind of restrained gentleness.
"Don't kick 6867, and don't be mean to it. I'll take care of the room issue for you when I get back."
"As you command, young boss."
After hanging up, Qiao Suisui muttered "crazy" to her laptop and quickly put the inexplicable call behind her. She stretched out on the terrace. It was already dark, and she leaned her arms on the railing, gazing at the starry sky. Suddenly, a shooting star streaked across the sky. She quickly clasped her hands together, closed her eyes, and made a wish. The thought of her new life brought a heartfelt smile to her face.
Downstairs in the apartment building, Carl sat on a stone bench in the flower bed, his long legs lazily spread out, his figure blending into the night. He tilted his head back, biting his cigarette, and saw the figure return to the room. The longing that had just been relieved suddenly surged into his heart.
