Chapter 98 Unstable Fetus
Simon opened his mouth to say something, but it was too late.
Carl shot him once in the shoulder and once in the ankle, accurately avoiding the vital parts and causing him to lose his ability to move.
"Put away your crappy talent."
Seeing Simon quickly withdraw the illusion, he strode towards the bookshelf on the left and stood under Qiao Suisui with his arms outstretched.
"Come down, I'll catch you."
Qiao Susu turned her head and looked hesitantly.
At this height, can Carl really catch me?
Karl saw her fear and did not urge her. He slowed down his voice and said, “Don’t be afraid, believe me.”
Qiao Susu looked at him and saw that the face that was always cynical was now looking at her seriously.
"I'm ready to let go."
She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and without caring anything, she let go and fell backwards.
The pain she had imagined did not come, and she felt herself falling into a solid embrace.
She opened her eyes and looked at the three-dimensional face, and saw Karl looking at her with a smile in his eyes.
"Good girl, you're great." Karl praised her as if she were a dog, his tone exaggerated. He lifted the person in his arms up and said with a smile: "I have to tie a weight to you when you go out, otherwise you will float away."
With this jump, the colic that I had forgotten about due to my fear of heights and nervousness came back from my abdomen.
When Carl saw Qiao Susu’s little face turned pale with pain, his expression suddenly changed.
"Are you hurt? Let me take a look."
He gently placed her on the table and was about to unbutton her school uniform, but Qiao Susu raised her hand to hold her down.
"Show me, this is not a joke, you."
"I'm not hurt." Qiao Suisui interrupted him in a weak voice, enduring the pain. "It's just a stomachache."
She was being cryptic, but Karl understood immediately, his expression growing even more tense. He carefully crossed her knees and lifted Qiao Suisui up sideways, saying, "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, everything will be fine," as if to comfort himself.
Qiao Susu hugged his neck and leaned her head weakly on his shoulder. She watched him use the Break technique to directly open up a space and then walked over quickly holding her.
As the two left, Qiao Susu turned back slightly and saw Simon on the ground looking at them in surprise.
Qiao Suisui's eyes were as deep as ink, making it impossible to tell what she was thinking. She retracted her gaze and leaned back on Karl's shoulder.
It took them almost nine seconds to arrive at a private clinic. In an operating room, the sound of rock music blared. A doctor in surgical gown took tweezers out of the patient's chest cavity, with a bullet stuck on the tip of the tweezers.
"Dang—"
The sound of bullets rolling onto the tray rang out. He took off his blood-stained gloves and threw them away, turned off the stereo, and told his assistant, "Alright, sew it up."
The doctor came out with his hands raised, and an assistant immediately stepped forward to take off his surgical gown. He first saw Karl standing outside the operating room, then looked at Qiao Suisui, who was in Karl's arms. Finally, he looked back and forth between the two of them and said, "Brothers are brothers, but don't break my rules. I don't accept females here."
Karl said in a deep voice: "It was a momentary emergency, there won't be a next time. Kai, please help her, she's fine, please hurry up." He kept urging the other party to go to an empty clinic, then carried Qiao Suisui in and gently put her on the bed.
Kai stood aside with his arms folded, a smile on his face as if he had been hurt.
The whole examination process was not complicated. He used a sophisticated instrument that Qiao Susu had never seen before to scan her from head to toe. Finally, the hand holding the instrument paused on her flat belly.
"Yours?" Kai looked at Carl in disbelief, and then when he saw the thermal image of the snake cub on the electronic screen, his eyes turned sympathetic when he looked at Carl, as if he could see the green light above his head.
I thought to myself, no wonder I haven’t seen him recently, it turns out he went out to be a cheap dad.
Karl ignored his thoughts and kept asking, "What's going on?"
"The fetus is unstable. You definitely need to rest. Don't overwork yourself. Most importantly, don't let your emotions fluctuate too much, as it's not good for the fetus." Kai finished his instructions and looked at Qiao Suisui, muttering to himself suspiciously, "It's already the second trimester, why isn't she showing yet?"
Karl was in no mood to explain to him, so he just asked nervously: “Then why is she still in so much pain now? Is there any way?”
Kai shook his head. "You can't prescribe painkillers in this situation, and it wouldn't be good for the child. A night's rest should help a lot."
"Can you do this? Why don't you have any ideas? Just transfer this crappy piece of land and stop operating it!"
"Why are you so anxious? It's not your child. What are you two doing?"
The two have been good friends for many years. They are used to bickering with each other like this, and there are more unruly times. But today is different. Karl's back is already wet. He looks at Qiao Susu's weak appearance and wishes he could think of a way to stop her from feeling pain.
In fact, Kai really wants to ask what your relationship is, but he feels it is unnecessary to ask.
Carl's heartache for this little female was almost palpable. Over the years, he had urged Carl to start a family more than once, only to be rebuffed by his father's words, "Leave me alone." He and Carl had grown up in the Cub Yard, a hatchery funded by the Federation. They selected genetic matches from the gene pool for hatching. It could be said that the orcs at the Cub Yard were completely purpose-built. When these cubs grew up, they would undoubtedly serve the Federation.
Therefore, they were born without parents, and only by being loyal to the Federation could they live a decent life. Among them, Carl was the most capable. Unlike him, Carl never longed for the warmth of home. He only cared about becoming stronger and had no desire to marry a female, believing that females were only there to hold him back.
This was the first time Kai had seen Karl so nervous in all these years. So, he was less harsh and said comfortingly, "Don't worry too much. This young lady has a special physique. She'll be fine after a few days of rest."
Karl was still not satisfied and cursed him as a quack in his heart. He raised his hand to wipe the cold sweat off Qiao Suis forehead.
Qiao Suisui politely nodded to Kai to express her gratitude. After thinking for a moment, she asked, "How did you know I'm female?"
Her beauty pills and voice-changing pills didn't work, so why did the doctor determine she was female at first sight?
Kai laughed and said, "Your disguise is very realistic, but you overlooked one thing." He touched his chin and said, "Male orcs, regardless of their form, will gradually begin to grow beards after they pass their infancy. You are too clean."
Qiao Suisui suddenly realized, "Thank you for the reminder."
Kai didn't say that the most important reason for him to judge her as a female was actually -
That guy who has never been interested in others has his eyes glued to her.
Kai left tactfully, leaving the two to talk alone.
Karl sat on a chair, guarding Qiao Susu's bed, and poured her a glass of warm water.
"Let's just observe here all night."
Qiao Suisui agreed. She really didn't have the energy to toss anymore. When the cup of water was handed over, she heard Karl ask hesitantly, "Should we notify Zong Fang?"
