Lu Wan squinted her eyes and glanced at the maid's back, then lowered her head to ask the young eunuch, "Who was that just past? I heard her mention a Concubine Feng?"
The young eunuch heard this and quickly made a gesture to whisper, "Oh my Lord Lu, please be careful. If someone else hears this and tells the Concubine, you will be in big trouble, not to mention me."
Lu Wan was stunned.
She just mentioned Concubine Feng, but wasn't the little eunuch's reaction too big?
As if he knew what Lu Wan was thinking, the young eunuch waved his hands hastily, and said in a voice as quiet as a mosquito, "You don't know, Concubine Feng is the most domineering concubine in the harem, and she has the Empress Dowager as her backer. No one dares to offend her, so it's best not to mention her at all."
When Lu Wan heard this, he felt that this Concubine Feng was a little bit outrageous. She was not some fairy concubine, so why couldn't she even be mentioned by her name?
She rolled her eyes very obviously, and noticing the terrified look in the young eunuch's eyes, she nodded quickly and said seriously, "Don't worry, I will never say anything nonsense, and I will never bring you any trouble."
As she spoke, she put a cross in front of herself to show her determination not to speak nonsense.
The young eunuch was relieved, and after thanking Lu Wan profusely, he sent her back to Prince Shen's mansion.
What Lu Wan didn't know was that she didn't want to provoke the famous Concubine Feng, but Concubine Feng came to her door on her own initiative.
After she left, Ru Yuan quickly found the eunuch who took her out of the palace.
"Don't worry, I'm just a little curious. It has nothing to do with Lady Jieyu."
Ru Yuan looked at the young eunuch with a smile and handed a very heavy silver ingot to the young eunuch.
Although she said that this was her own intention, how could a little palace maid just give away a silver ingot?
The young eunuch naturally wanted the money in her hand, but since he could work in Chaoyuan Hall and was appreciated by the young emperor, he was certainly not a stupid man. In just a moment, he figured out the cause and effect in his mind.
It was naturally Ru Yuan's idea to ask questions after seeing Lu Wan leaving Chaoyuan Hall, but she didn't do it for her own sake. But how could someone like Concubine Feng be interested in a little study companion? There must be something here that she didn't know.
It is natural that the young eunuch would not easily betray the emperor, otherwise he would not even know how he died. But he could not directly reject Ru Yuan, otherwise wouldn't that be a case of trying to cover up one's own faults?
After smiling at Ru Yuan, the young eunuch hurriedly said, "If you have anything to know, I will tell you everything I know."
Ru Yuan was obviously very satisfied with this answer. She smiled at Xiao Yinzi and said, "You are quite smart."
Little Yinzi couldn't tell whether she was praising him or scolding him, so he just responded with a grin. Ru Yuan held the silver in front of Little Yinzi, as if she was fishing for a fish that was desperate for bait. "Tell me, why did His Majesty ask Lord Lu to come to the palace? Don't try to fool me. I've already found out that Lord Lu has been in Chaoyuan Palace for quite a while."
Xiao Yinzi reached out to take the silver, but was severely slapped. He then focused on answering Ru Yuan's question, "Hey! You must have been deceived by the person who brought you the news. You said you stayed there for a long time. You came out in less than a quarter of an hour and didn't even finish a cup of tea."
Ru Yuan's eyes flickered when she heard this, and then she said, "So, I was really deceived by that kid."
"That's not the case."
Xiao Yinzi responded quickly, and he guessed that the previous words were a test and warning to him. After taking the risk to reply, he knew that he had guessed it right. He couldn't help but relax and continued, "I brought him in and sent him out. How long he stayed in Chaoyuan Hall and what he said, don't I know it best?"
Ru Yuan finally believed Xiao Yinzi completely this time. After throwing the silver in her hand to him, she said, "Since you know best, why don't you tell me why His Majesty called Lord Lu here."
Before answering, Xiao Yinzi bit the silver with his teeth to make sure there was no problem, then he answered, "Your Majesty has been feeling unwell these days, so he has been recuperating in the palace. He just got better today, and heard about some flower gardens outside the palace. He was curious, so he ordered me to invite Lord Lu into the palace to explain the lively scene outside to relieve his boredom."
Ru Yuan frowned when she heard this, "But if you were here to relieve your boredom, why did you leave in less than a quarter of an hour?"
Xiao Yinzi had expected this question, so he had even thought of a reason. As soon as Ru Yuan finished speaking, he followed up, "You don't know Lord Lu because you don't know him. He hates being in a crowd, let alone a garden poetry party. So after being called by His Majesty, she left without saying a few words."
Ru Yuan spent a piece of silver, only to hear such useless news. Naturally, she was unwilling to give up. She glanced at Xiao Yinzi and asked, "You didn't lie to me, did you?"
"Don't worry, no matter who I lie to, I can't lie to Sister Ru Yuan, right?"
Having said that, he put the silver in his arms and turned to leave. However, Ru Yuan was conflicted about whether or not to tell Concubine Feng about the news. Although Lord Xiao Song had instructed that all news related to Lu Wan must be reported to him, discussing something like a garden party was really too trivial.
Ru Yuan was thinking this in her mind and hadn't made up her mind yet, but she met someone in Chuxiu Palace who she shouldn't have met at this time.
Song Ping was eating at the same table with Concubine Feng when she saw Ru Yuan coming in from outside. She smiled and glanced at her, "I was just curious. I usually see Ru Yuan when I come to Wan'er's place, but she is not here today. It turns out she went out."
