Chapter 8: Infatuated Character

It was unknown whether there were other people guarding the main entrance, so Shen Yan chose to take Lu Wan over the wall of the backyard.

You are only one step away from success.

Lu Wan's eyes were filled with tears. Was this a wall that he was climbing over? No, it was freedom!

Shen Yan said calmly: "Close your eyes."

He put his arm around her waist and pulled her into his arms.

With a light tap of the toes, she slowly landed on the top of the wall.

Lu Wan was afraid of heights, so he subconsciously closed his eyes and hugged Chen Yan tightly with both hands as if grasping at a life-saving straw.

Shen Yan's body stiffened for a moment.

They were so close that their breathing could be heard.

In his arms was a soft, fragile little ball that was completely different from him. It was trembling, not sure if it was from the cold or fear.

Shen Yan had lived for nineteen years, and for the first time he felt somewhat at a loss.

After quickly jumping down with Lu Wan, Shen Yan patted her back hesitantly.

"It's okay," he said in a dry voice after a moment's silence, "Don't be afraid."

Only after he felt his feet were on solid ground did Lu Wan breathe a sigh of relief.

After realizing how embarrassing she had just been, Lu Wan felt a little embarrassed: "Sorry, Brother Yan."

The girl's hair on her forehead was wet by the rain and stuck to the sides of her face, making her facial features more delicate.

Raindrops slid down her thick and long eyelashes. She raised her watery eyes. In Shen Yan's eyes, she looked like a wet kitten.

"No problem." He shook his head.

Holding Lu Wan's wrist with his other hand, Shen Yan's eyes were sharp and he said seriously: "Let's go."

He raised his legs and ran, and Lu Wan followed him breathlessly.

The continuous rain made the vision blurry.

She was half a step behind him, the sound of the wind whistling past her ears.

In a trance, Lu Wan felt that the only sounds left in the world were the overlapping footsteps of the two.

She ran until she felt dizzy, but she was extremely happy because she was getting farther and farther away from the house where she was imprisoned.

Escaped!

After confirming it was safe, Lu Wan rolled his eyes and began to work professionally.

"Brother Ayan."

She drawled out, "I'm so tired, my feet are so sore, I can't run anymore."

Shen Yan glanced at her sideways, "Then you stay here, I'm leaving."

"I don't care," Lu Wan pouted, "I want you to carry me."

She squatted on the ground like a spoiled brat, staring at Chen Yan stubbornly.

After a stalemate for a while, Shen Yan sighed, turned his back and squatted down, "Come up."

I can't really leave her here alone.

Lu Wan raised the corners of his lips, and climbed onto Shen Yan's back contentedly, wrapping his slender arms around his neck.

The boy is tall and has long legs. He looks thin, but he is surprisingly down-to-earth.

Even though he was carrying someone on his back, it did not affect his movements, and he walked leisurely in the garden.

She was free, her mind wandered uncontrollably, and her eyes unconsciously fell on Shen Yan.

He was a young general who became famous at a young age, full of vigor and vitality, and could conquer the world with one sword.

But after Shen Yun's death, he gradually became darker and more gloomy.

As for her, I guess in Shen Yan's memory, she had already become an insignificant drop in the boundless torrent of time.

"What are you thinking about?" A clear voice suddenly sounded.

Lu Wan blurted out subconsciously: "Will you still remember me after thinking for a long time?"

The fingers clasped around her wrist tightened.

A long time later?

Such vague words are meaningless to Shen Yan.

He dislikes unfounded assumptions and thinks they are a waste of energy.

What's more, it is such a confusing question.

He could have ignored it, but his brain couldn't help but replay the girl's words.

Lu Wan was a little upset about her slip of the tongue, but she also felt that this statement was quite consistent with her current infatuation with Chen Yan.

Look, even when I was running for my life, I didn’t forget to imagine my future with you in my mind. I’m really deeply in love with you!

She tried to make amends: "Brother Ayan, what I mean is..."

Before she could finish her words, she was interrupted by the man.

Shen Yan said: "Yes."

Lu Wan was stunned, "What?"

He glanced sideways, his beautiful eyebrows slightly curved, like peach blossom branches growing out of an old dream.

"Lu Wan, my memory is not bad," he said.

Before Lu Wan could figure out whether he was joking or serious, she saw Shen Yan's expression suddenly change.

Pulling Lu Wan, he suddenly stopped.

His other hand reached for his waist, where hung a sword that he had just taken from the guard at the door.

"What's wrong?" Lu Wan was puzzled.

What answered her was a cold and evil laugh: "Where do you two want to run to?"

The man had a mask on his face, so his face couldn't be seen clearly. All I could see were his eyes, which looked sinister and vicious. "Do you think you can get away?"

Lu Wan felt that he looked familiar. After looking at him for a long time, he suddenly realized, isn’t this Wei Mingtang?

Shen Yan put Lu Wan aside.

The internal injuries on his body flared up, and a stream of bright red blood flowed from his thin lips, but his jet-black eyes were exceptionally bright.

"Swish——" a crisp sound was heard.

Shen Yan drew his sword.

He looked at Wei Mingtang and said word by word: "You can give it a try."
