Chapter 9 An Yuexi and Lan You have a heart-to-heart talk

Lan You immediately understood what he was asking and replied, "No matter who Lin Yan was talking about, I would have said that because I can't stand her superior attitude."

Mo Junyao curled his lips slightly, seeming dissatisfied with her answer.

After two classes in the evening, Lan You was very hungry because she had not eaten dinner. She planned to eat something near the school after school and then take the bus back.

She walked into a noodle shop alone and happened to see An Yuexi ordering. After ordering, she turned around and saw Lan You. She subconsciously stepped back as if she had seen a ghost, and her face turned pale.

Lan You saw her frightened look and asked doubtfully, "Are you afraid of me?"

An Yuexi's body tensed up, and she quickly shook her head, stuttering, "No...no."

After she finished speaking, she whispered to the boss, "Boss, I remembered I have something else to do, so I don't want this one."

The boss frowned, looking a little unhappy. "All the noodles are in the pot."

An Yuexi felt embarrassed for a moment, "Then take it."

This store seemed to be doing very well. The small shop was packed with students. An Yuexi finally found a place to sit down.

The school uniforms they were wearing were blue plaid, and they should be from Haishi No. 2 Middle School, which was across the street from Qinghe High School. Although the two schools were so close to each other, there was a world of difference between them.

Most of the people who come to this small noodle restaurant are students from Haishi No. 2 Middle School, while students from Qinghe High School don't bother to come here.

An Yuexi ate her noodles first, followed by Lan You. The boss took the initiative to say, "I saw you two talking, so I guess you know each other. How about you two sit at the same table?"

Lan You looked around, but there was no room. "Okay."

An Yuexi trembled and quickened her pace in eating noodles. As a result, she choked and kept coughing violently. The chili water in her throat made it even more burning and painful. She coughed so hard that her face turned red and she looked in pain.

Lan You poured her a bowl of spinach soup and placed it next to her. "Just drink it."

An Yuexi hesitated for a moment, but couldn't bear it anymore, so she picked up the bowl and drank the soup in one breath, which immediately relieved her discomfort.

"Thank you," she said politely.

Lan You sat down and said firmly, "You seem very afraid of me. I know that what I said at noon hurt your self-esteem, but you don't have to be afraid of me to the point of treating me like a monster."

An Yuexi's mind suddenly flashed with an image. She trembled and whispered, "Lan You, I was born in an ordinary family. I can't bully you at all."

Lan You answered without hesitation, "I know. Neither you nor Lin Yan can bully me."

An Yuexi's eyes flickered as she said hesitantly, "Then could you please not...target me?"

Lan You looked at her in astonishment. "Are you afraid that I'll target you? Why do you think so?"

She had not forgotten that she wanted to make friends with her at noon, but now she was afraid of her. She had some vague guesses in her heart, but she felt it was impossible.

"I..." An Yuexi suddenly became nervous. Lan You easily noticed her emotional fluctuations and began to speak tentatively, "You are eating noodles here so late, didn't you go to the cafeteria for dinner?"

As expected, An Yuexi couldn't hide her thoughts at all. She shook her head like a rattle and said in a panic, "I'm going."

But her wandering eyes had already revealed her true emotions.

Lan You looked at her and said firmly, "You are lying. You didn't have dinner at all. You should have seen me in the classroom..."

Before she could finish her words, An Yuexi said in a panic, like a frightened bird, "I didn't see you in Lin Yan's position..."

After she finished speaking, An Yuexi realized something and suddenly looked up at her. She looked at her calmly and said directly, "If you hadn't witnessed everything I did outside the classroom, how would you know that I was in Lin Yan's position?"

An Yuexi was speechless and couldn't utter a word.

"You are afraid of me because you are afraid that I will treat you like I treated Lin Yan." Lan You said firmly.

"No, I just..." An Yuexi couldn't find any other excuse and was terrified. Now that she knew her secret, would she deal with her?

"Lan You, don't worry, I won't tell anyone." She said anxiously, eager to show herself.

"Did you ever think about telling Lin Yan about this? She was eager for evidence. If you told her, maybe she would accept you, and maybe even your classmates would accept you." Lan You asked tentatively.

Lan You's words were always so sharp and touched her heart. She really thought so in her heart. On the one hand, she hated Lan You for piercing her self-esteem. On the other hand, as she said, Lin Yan owed her a favor, so her life in class would not be so difficult in the future.

"I did think so." Since she was right, she had nothing to hide.

"Then why didn't you tell Lin Yan that you saw it?"

But An Yuexi thought she was living a clear life, and she didn't want to follow Lin Yan like a little follower and fawn on her.

"Yes, you're right. Deep down, I have an inferiority complex. I don't expect anyone to look up to me. From childhood to adulthood, I've always been hesitant and timid in everything I encounter. To put it mildly, it's because I have a fear of making choices, and to put it more broadly, it's because I lack confidence. But that doesn't mean I have to please Lin Yan. Even if I told her, she would still look down on me deep down."

Lan You's serious expression gradually relaxed. It seemed that An Yuexi could still be saved, but there was still a bottom line in her heart that could not be crossed.

"No matter what your intentions are, thank you today. Although Lin Yan brought this thing in and put it in my schoolbag first, if we get to the bottom of this matter, I think both she and I will suffer."

She might even be expelled from school.

"No need to thank me. I didn't intend to help you anyway." An Yuexi told the truth.

"Well, I know, but I'll remember this favor. Also, I, Lan You, have always been a person who will not offend others unless they offend me. If someone offends me, I will definitely retaliate. You don't have to be afraid of me at all." Lan You said cheerfully.

"Well, I'm full and ready to go."

Just as An Yuexi was about to call the boss for the bill, Lan You shouted, "Boss, check out, both bowls together."

"16 yuan."

Lan You paid the money quickly. An Yuexi finally realized what was happening and was about to give her the money. "I don't want you to treat me."

Lan You stopped her behavior and patted her shoulder. "Just treat us as classmates from now on. Let's go."

An Yuexi immediately thought of what she said at noon and was a little angry. "Lan You, what do you mean?"

"Literally."

After a moment, Lan You disappeared from her sight.

An Yuexi lowered her head and murmured with mixed emotions, "I don't need your pity."

There was a misty moisture in the eye sockets.
