Chapter 118 Chaos

Liang Yucai’s old friend is He Hanlin, who lives in the university staff housing complex.

The place was in complete chaos. It was here that the initial prairie fire was ignited. It was also where the teacher was first criticized and educated.

The teachers here are in a precarious situation and live cautiously.

Liang Yucai sent a telegram to He Hanlin before leaving. He Hanlin had been hiding at home for the past two days, listening attentively to any noise outside.

He didn't dare turn on the lights to create the illusion that he was not at home.

His wife Yu En was dragged out by students for education last time. Both of her legs were broken. She lay in bed every day, groaning in pain from time to time.

As soon as Liang Yucai and Jiaojiao entered Pingjing, they felt an unusual bleak and murderous atmosphere in the air.

Before Liang Yucai came, he often listened to some news about Pingjing on the radio and had heard about this matter.

However, when I actually set foot on this land, I realized that what I heard was far less shocking than what I saw.

As soon as they entered the school gate, a group of students, escorting four or five teachers, passed by them.

The teachers, who looked to be around 40 years old, each wore a tall paper hat. One of them, who probably hadn't had time to put it on, had a broken wastepaper basket flipped upside down on his head. A piece of wire on the edge of the wastepaper basket scratched his face, leaving a long, bloody mark.

The crowd shouted at them to kneel down, but these teachers were unwavering and remained unmoved.

The frenzied students kicked the teachers hard in the knees, and they fell to their knees with a thud. Jiaojiao could even hear the sound of their bones cracking amidst the clamor.

Liang Yucai frowned. How could this even be considered a university? It wouldn't be an exaggeration to compare it to a Shura Field!

He looked at Jiaojiao, only to see the latter frowning.

"Let's go! Let's go check on Hanlin. I wonder if he's okay." Liang Yucai suddenly felt a little panicked. He was worried that Jiaojiao might do something unusual. With so many people around, if they got surrounded, it would be difficult to deal with!

Before Jiaojiao could turn around, Liang Yucai snapped her head back and said, "Hurry! Come with me to find Hanlin first!"

Whenever Liang Yucai went on business to Pingjing, he would stay overnight at He Hanlin's house. The old friends would talk by candlelight all night long.

This time, Liang Yucai was familiar with the route, and he quickly showed up at He Hanlin's door with Jiaojiao.

The He family had always been clean, but at this moment the courtyard was in a mess.

Liang Yucai shouted at the top of his voice: "Old He, are you home?"

He Hanlin in the room was startled and quickly lifted a corner of the curtain, leaving only a tiny gap to peek out.

Liang Yucai stood on tiptoe to look inside.

"Lao He, are you there?"

He Hanlin hurriedly lowered the curtain, opened the door and ran out.

"Keep your voice down, keep your voice down!" He ran in a panic, looking around.

"Hurry, come in!"

The three of them quickly entered the house, and He Hanlin closed the door before he breathed a sigh of relief.

"What's wrong?" Liang Yucai asked worriedly, seeing that his old friend was like a frightened bird.

He Hanlin sighed and wiped the sweat from his forehead: "You have no idea how crazy these people are now! I was arrested and criticized and educated, but the key is your sister-in-law..."

"What's wrong with sister-in-law?" Liang Yucai asked anxiously.

"Ouch..." A painful cry came from the room.

He Hanlin opened the curtains and saw Yu En lying on the bed. He forced a smile towards Liang Yucai: "Xiao Liang, you're here..."

Liang Yucai's eyes turned red instantly.

"Sister-in-law, what's wrong with you?"

He Hanlin did not mention Yu En's situation in his letter. He was afraid that Liang Yucai would not be able to do it and felt guilty.

He Hanlin whispered, "They were taken away for education, forced to wear dunce caps, have their faces smeared with ink, and kneel down..."

Liang Yucai looked at his old friend. No wonder he was so paranoid. Yu En was so proud and arrogant. How could he bear such a change? If He Hanlin hadn't been watching over him constantly, Yu En would have been devastated.

"So you didn't go to the hospital after your leg was broken?"

He Hanlin sighed deeply, his voice hoarse, "I went there, took him to the school hospital, but they refused to see him, so they took him back."

Liang Yucai couldn't believe it: "You won't even show me your broken leg?"

He Hanlin smiled bitterly and shook his head.

Jiaojiao coughed lightly. Liang Yucai immediately thought of her, turned around and grabbed Jiaojiao: "Jiaojiao, come quickly, come and show it to Teacher Yu!"

When Lianhua was studying medicine with Qin Zhongyi, Jiaojiao also learned some simple medical skills. Although her medical skills were not very advanced, she had some tricks up her sleeve!

Jiaojiao did not refuse. She stepped forward, asked Liang Yucai and the others to go out, and then lifted the quilt.

She carefully examined Teacher Yu's leg and asked some detailed questions. Seeing Teacher Yu looking at her nervously, she comforted her, "Relax, it's a small problem. It just takes a while to heal. Once it heals, it'll be just like before! No difference!"

"Really?" A different light flashed in Yu En's eyes, once filled with despair. She had always been proud and arrogant, and being taken away for education had already dealt a heavy blow to her self-esteem. If her leg was broken, there would be no point in living!

"Of course it's true! You don't know me, but you know Teacher Liang, don't you? Since he asked me to show it to you, he must believe me! Please believe me too!"

Yu En nodded quickly, and before he knew it, two lines of tears slid down his face.

She raised her hand and wiped it randomly, but the more she wiped, the more it came out. Finally, she covered her face and burst into tears.

He Hanlin also burst into tears outside.

"It's okay to cry! It's okay to cry! I was scared to death when you were half dead earlier!"

Being able to cry means that your emotions are released and you won't be stuck in your heart.

Liang Yucai patted He Hanlin on the shoulder, suppressing the bitterness in his eyes.

"Don't worry, with Jiaojiao here, there's nothing we can't solve!"

At least when it comes to curing diseases, Jiaojiao definitely has a way.

Jiaojiao took out silver needles and several bottles of ointment from the bag she was carrying.

After acupuncture, an ointment was applied to help the bones heal.

"You may feel pain and itchiness tonight, but bear with it. The discomfort will gradually disappear in a few days. Take two pills from this bottle every day."

"Don't worry, you'll be fine soon! But it's not convenient for you to move right now, so you have to wait a few days before setting off again!"

"Wait a minute!" He Hanlin said hurriedly, "Let's set off again after her leg is healed!"

Jiaojiao smiled and said, "It won't be that fast for your leg to fully recover! Even if the pain and itching are gone, the inside hasn't healed yet! I suggest you rest for another week before considering leaving."

"Okay! Sure! We'll do whatever you say! I'll follow your instructions!"

Yu En's legs were covered in ointment, feeling warm. Occasionally, she felt a stinging pain in her knees, but it was much better than before. She had barely slept in over a month, and now she finally relaxed, leaning back against the pillow, closing her eyes, and soon she was fast asleep.

"Your sister-in-law has suffered a lot this time!" He Hanlin whispered to Liang Yucai.

"She was originally fine because an elderly lady from the same office was taken away for reprimand. She couldn't bear to see this and spoke up for justice. Unexpectedly, she was also taken away for reprimand..."

"When the old lady learned that Yu En's legs were broken, she felt extremely guilty. However, she had no way to repay him, so she committed suicide by taking poison the next day!"
