People will not starve to death in Daqingshan, but first of all, Daqingshan cannot die.
Daqingshan has regrown. After being plundered like a swarm of locusts, Daqingshan has regrown in just three days.
The news brought tears of joy to the villagers of the four villages near Daqing Mountain. The reason they didn't have to flee and beg during famines was Daqing Mountain.
Checkpoints were set up along the Daqing Mountain, and villagers from four nearby villages took turns guarding them.
"Uncle, please be kind and let me go up the mountain to find something to eat! I haven't eaten for three days. Uncle, please be kind!"
"Brother, please let me go up the mountain. My children are so hungry that they can't even cry. They are just waiting for this bite of food to save their lives!"
"Uncle, help! My old mother is dying. We must let her have a bite of food before she dies!"
At the checkpoint stood the emaciated refugees, their faces grim and their tears streaming down as they spoke of their difficulties. Each unfortunate person has his or her own misfortune.
Wangjia Village is led by Grandpa Dashan, and half of the villagers are on duty at the checkpoint.
"Auntie, it's not that I don't let you go up. You can see that the grass on the mountain has just started to grow. Let it grow longer, otherwise those few grass tips will be dug up and we will all starve to death!" Dashan's father comforted an old lady.
The old lady burst into tears when she heard this: "Young man, please let me go up. If I don't bring some food back today, my children will not survive."
The old lady bowed to Grandpa Dashan and Grandpa Goudan and said, "Two big brothers, please be kind and give me a way out!"
Grandpa Dashan and Grandpa Goudan turned their heads away, unable to bear to watch any longer.
The old woman pleaded in vain, and finally knelt down before Daqing Mountain, crying out in sorrow, "Mountain Goddess, please open your eyes and save us poor people! Mountain Goddess, I kowtow to you, Mountain Goddess, please show your power! Mountain Goddess!"
As she knelt, all the people at the foot of the mountain knelt down and wailed for the mountain goddess to open her eyes and save their lives.
Everyone on duty at the checkpoint was shocked, obviously not expecting this to happen.
The people of Wangjia Village all spoke in unison, trying to comfort them: "Hurry up and get up! What mountain goddess? Be careful, or she'll arrest you during the "Four Olds" campaign!"
"What do you mean by destroying the Four Olds? I'm starving to death. If Daqing Mountain can save my life, those who destroy the Four Olds will also shout out to the Mountain Goddess!"
"Mountain Goddess! Mountain Goddess!"
The refugees advanced, crying.
The people of Wangjia Village retreated step by step and finally had no choice but to flee. There were too many refugees, and it was difficult to offend the public anger!
Refugees once again poured into Daqing Mountain. Old Lady Feng stood in her yard, holding Jiaojiao, gazing at Daqing Mountain from afar.
"Just now, Goudan'er's family came back and said they can't stop it! There are too many people starving! There's no way to stop it." Old Lady Feng said to Jiaojiao, "If we continue like this, the refugees will become jealous and go crazy. Our several villages won't be able to stop them!"
Jiaojiao had already seen it without Mrs. Feng saying anything.
After all, there are limited things on Daqing Mountain. You can't find any food on the mountain, so the four villages around the mountain are the fat sheep.
Wangjia Village bore the brunt of the impact. The refugees weren't foolish. Of the villages, Wangjia Village was closest to Daqing Mountain, occupying a large portion of its foothills. Furthermore, the people of Wangjia Village seemed the most energetic, with men, women, and children alike brimming with vigor and vitality.
So they first rushed into Wangjia Village and searched everywhere. Unexpectedly, Wangjia Village was indeed a fat sheep. Every household had two cellars, and the cellars were full of food.
The people of Wangjia Village naturally would not let their food rations be stolen for no reason. They still have to rely on them to survive the famine!
One wanted to rob, the other wanted to defend. The barefoot refugees were not afraid of those wearing shoes, and they were very ruthless. Not only did the people of Wangjia Village have their food robbed, but they were also beaten severely. The people who were looting the food, because there were too many of them, just took the food and ran away, making it impossible to do anything about them.
Jiaojiao saw all this in the morning.
"It's okay, I've made preparations."
Jiaojiao looked toward Daqing Mountain. Deep within the mountains, herds of wild boars were stirring. Hissing sounds were heard everywhere, and poisonous snakes twisted and writhed on the ground, their tongues spitting out. Two black bears stood in front of their cave, roaring to the sky, and several wolves prowled in the woods.
In the past six months, spiritual energy has surged in Daqing Mountain, nourishing many animals. Their bodies have become stronger and their minds seem much smarter. A large bird was circling above the forest. In the trees, many small monkeys swung from branch to branch, enjoying themselves.
The bird circled for a long time before finally letting out a cry. The monkeys took the lead, dashing down the mountain, followed closely by the reckless wild boars. The venomous snakes, not wanting to be left behind, slithered through the grass, their tongues spitting.
Halfway up the mountain, people digging wild vegetables were fighting for the ground, arguing, pushing and shoving each other, and some were even fighting.
Suddenly, someone stood up and pricked up their ears, their face filled with fear: "Hey! Stop fighting, listen..."
"What's that sound?" someone asked tremblingly.
The ground shook, and soon they knew what was happening: a herd of wild boars, tusks bared, rushed down the mountain.
After the wild boar came the hissing snakes, and rocks and other objects kept falling from the trees.
In the distance, a fierce roar could be heard, probably from a black bear, followed by a long, lingering howl of a wolf.
"Run!" someone shouted. "The mountain goddess is angry. Run!"
The people on Daqing Mountain were so scared that they picked up baskets and carried baskets on their backs and ran down the mountain.
The people on the mountain rushed down the mountain like a tide. When they reached the foot of the mountain, they turned around and found the wild boar was still behind them. They were so scared that they didn't dare to stop for a moment and scattered in all directions.
At the foot of the mountain, the people of Wangjia Village and Caijia Village were so scared that they quickly hid in their houses, hoping that these crazy wild boars would not destroy the vegetables and fruits in the village.
