Chapter 24 The Little Ghost Claims Life
“Bullshit!”
The temperature in the room plummeted with the shrill sound. Qin Qinsen, displeased, stomped his leg. Though the movement was subtle, it still shook the abusive ghost out.
"...Liar! Murderer!"
The ghost still retained the appearance of the age it was at when it died, except that its cheeks were sunken and black blood kept flowing out of the wound on the back of its head.
"Do you know each other?" Qin Qinsen was a little puzzled as he looked around at the expressions of the Teng family members.
Anxi's face was filled with confusion, which could be explained by being too young to remember his playmates. But Grandpa Teng, his father, and his mother all wore the same puzzled frowns, which seemed a little off.
"Are you sure you got the right person?"
The kid screamed in denial and launched into a new round of verbal abuse.
Qin Qinsen had to temporarily seal the little ghost, holding him in his hand, and said to Anxi and the others, "This guy was five years old when he fell off a cliff, suffered a head injury, and died of excessive blood loss."
When the little ghost heard the man who roughly grabbed him clearly state his age and cause of death, his eyes widened. If they had not been sealed, he would have screamed and ran away.
It's not like he hasn't encountered masters in the past ten years. Although most of them are scammers, he still occasionally sees one or two with real skills. How could this unfamiliar pretty boy see something that even those white-bearded old men couldn't see?
"I don't know her." Anxi still shook her head. "Actually, when I was very young, I noticed that the children around me were always injured in accidents and sickly, so I always stayed alone. One time, I remember the girl was called Tongtong. The school organized an outing, and the teacher asked us to line up in two teams. Somehow, Tongtong suddenly ran out onto the road and was hit by a car. Then her mother..."
Her parents blamed all the faults on Anxi, who was walking side by side with Tongtong.
"Why didn't you hold her hand? Did you push her out? You killed her. It's all your fault!"
Tongtong's mother's wailing terrified Anxi, who developed a high fever that night. She has no idea what happened next. She remembers the incident only because she saw her classmate being knocked away, leaving a profound impression on her young mind.
"No, Tongtong is not dead." Teng's mother suddenly spoke up. She found Anxi's student photo album upstairs, turned to a page, pointed at a little girl and said, "This is the Tongtong you were talking about."
Sitting in a wheelchair, with a piece of gauze on his cheek and his left leg and right arm in plaster, his smile was still bright.
Tongtong was admitted to a hospital owned by Teng's family. Teng's mother is certain that she survived. "Luckily, the vehicle wasn't going very fast. Tongtong's injuries look scary, but she'll be fine if she rests well."
Qin Qinsen put the photo and the little ghost in his hand together and said, "Look, do they look a bit similar?"
They were the same age, with the same facial features. However, Tongtong had a bright and cheerful smile, while Xiaogui had a fierce look on his face.
Before anyone could figure out what was going on, Teng Su clicked on the file he had received. "My older sister, Fei Zitong, is now a tour guide. My younger brother, Fei Jiabao, died in an accident eighteen years ago."
Before Qin Qinsen could react, the little ghost in his hand, with blood flowing from his eyes, broke free from his restraints and ran towards Teng Su who was speaking.
"ban."
The talisman paper stabbed like a sharp sword, nailing the little ghost to the ground and making it unable to move.
"Let me go! I want them to pay with their lives!"
Qin Qinsen didn't want to listen to the ghost anymore, so he put his hand on the little ghost's eyebrows and muttered something. When Qin Qinsen let go of his hand, the little ghost automatically started telling the story.
It was indeed Fei Jiabao. On the day his sister, Fei Zitong, was in trouble, his mother was taking Fei Jiabao to the playground, where he was throwing a tantrum and refusing to participate in the kindergarten's "low-quality activities." After receiving a call from the school, Fei's mother first sent Fei Jiabao home and prepared lunch for him before leisurely rushing to the hospital.
Fei Jiabao was not content. As soon as his mother left, he ran out. His destination was the small hill behind his home, where he and his friends had discovered a "secret base" on the hillside.
It had rained heavily the day before, leaving the soil on the hilltop soft and moist. Five-year-old Fei Jiabao took slow, shallow steps, his mind preoccupied with the game console hidden in his secret base. He wondered if his friends had hidden their consoles properly, if they'd gotten wet, and if they'd broken down and he couldn't play them.
When he finally stepped into the entrance of the secret base, a snake jumped out. He was so scared that he ran away crying. In his panic, he missed a step and rolled down the hill.
While rolling, the back of his head hit a rock and he fell unconscious on the spot.
It wasn't until the evening that someone passing by after work rushed him to the hospital, but it was too late and Fei Jiabao had already died.
"So you're taking your anger out on Anxi?" Teng An laughed angrily. "Your sister was lying in the hospital, her life or death unknown, and your mother even cooked you a meal before leaving. You should have stayed home and behaved, but you got yourself killed and now you're blaming Anxi?"
"Mom said it was all Anxi's fault! It was Anxi who didn't hold my sister back, so Mom went out, and that's why I died! It's all Anxi's fault!"
The little ghost was still very young when he died, and as his mother mourned him day and night, he listened to illogical words, which gradually formed an obsession. The little ghost, who originally died unexpectedly and was waiting to be reincarnated, suddenly developed a trace of evil spirit and took the initiative to search for the person he believed to be the "murderer."
Fortunately, after Mother Fei's outburst, the Teng family sent all three children abroad, allowing them to return only after completing their studies. Therefore, it wasn't until Anxi returned to China this year that the little devil finally got his chance to make his move.
"You're not that great either. As a human, you were disobedient and fond of playing and doing bad things. As a ghost, you're also unmotivated." Qin Qinsen wasn't pretending this time; he was genuinely disdainful. "If other ghosts had been as obsessed with 'revenge' as you for eighteen years, they would have become powerful ghosts long ago. But you, on the other hand, are still a little ghost, all you can do is cool down the body, but you have no common sense at all. You don't even know that rapid hypothermia causes the body's joints to stiffen, making it impossible to move freely."
"You want to throw him out of the car, right? It would be best if he landed on the back of his head like you did, bleeding profusely."
The spell didn't work, and the little ghost could only stare at the bleeding eyes and listen to himself say: "Yes, she wants to be like me, lying on the cold floor, feeling the blood flowing out of her body bit by bit, waiting for death to come."
"She won't." In the eyes of the little ghost, Qin Qinsen had no mercy at the moment. "She was born into a wealthy family and has excellent luck with noble people. In addition to the blessings of her ancestors, she has also accumulated virtue and done good deeds. She is kind, intelligent, and benevolent. And you, who brought this upon yourself and took your anger out on innocent people, are the bad kid who deserves to go to hell."
As soon as the words fell, the sound of chains dragging suddenly rang out. The Teng family members felt something passing by them, and a chilling wind blew, giving them goosebumps.
"Please take him away."
Qin Qinsen had a serious expression and bowed to the air.
In the eyes of the little ghost, two ghosts wearing black robes and tall hats were tying him up with endless chains in their hands. One of the ghosts said, "Master, you are too polite. You are a rude ghost and have offended an honorable person. We will punish you severely to serve as a warning to others."
After saying that, he actually returned a salute to Qin Qinsen. He originally thought that this "noble person" referred to the Teng family, including Anxi. After all, this family was blessed with great fortune, and anyone who saw them would look up to them.
Unexpectedly, the two summoned Wuchang actually saluted and bowed to him, which scared Qin Qinsen. He quickly moved aside and said, "I don't deserve it. Master Wuchang, take care."
