Chapter 61 Da Teng Being Scolded
"Confused!"
It was the first time Qin Qinsen saw Father Teng angry, and he was stunned for a moment. Before he could come to his senses, he heard Father Teng start scolding his son.
"Who taught you nepotism?! Didn't I teach you to deal with problems as soon as they were discovered? Yes, I did tell you to consider all sides, but is this how you consider things? Come here."
Teng Su stood up obediently and followed his father Teng away, leaving Qin Qinsen stunned.
"Brother is in trouble." Teng An said with a look of gloating.
"Eat first and leave them alone."
Teng's mother greeted Qin Qinsen as if nothing had happened. She seemed accustomed to her husband's sudden anger and was not at all anxious. Instead, she and Uncle Zhang served the dishes and soup, and chatted attentively with the slightly embarrassed Qin Qinsen.
As a guest, Qin Qinsen forgot about poor Teng Su in less than three minutes and chatted happily with Teng's mother.
"How's your health, Auntie?" He hadn't forgotten what he'd seen last time. Mother Teng was blessed, but extremes can only reverse, and she'd be beset by villains. Anxi's cold and yin poison was something she'd carried with her since she was in the womb. Now that Anxi's fate had changed, he wondered if it would affect Mother Teng.
"It's okay, Auntie is fine."
Qin Qinsen was afraid that she didn't take it seriously, so he listed them carefully, "Have you ever suddenly felt cold or hot, or suddenly felt tired or dizzy?"
"Everything is fine, but if you say you feel dizzy..." After deliberately pausing for a few seconds, Mother Teng spoke again under everyone's nervous gaze, "It wasn't me who was teasing you, it was Liu Quan. We were having tea together a few days ago, and after answering the phone, she started saying she felt dizzy. She wanted to leave after just two minutes of sitting down."
"What's wrong?"
Mother Teng paused as she picked up the food and looked at Anxi's hesitant expression with confusion.
"Mom, is it the day we came back from the southwest?"
After taking a sip of soup, Mother Teng said naturally, "I know what you are thinking. It was her. Your eldest brother found out."
"She is still connected to the person who cast the curse." Qin Qinsen confirmed.
Mother Teng nodded and naturally picked up a piece of pork chop for Anxi. "Although Liu Quan seems to be nice to you three on the surface, do you think I should remind you of her inner thoughts?"
Liu Quan and Teng's mother were college classmates. They got along well and shared common interests, making them close sisters who could talk about anything. Until they each married, one to Teng's family and the other to a university professor. University professors typically earn a decent salary, and Liu Quan also has her own career, so she's more than adequate.
But Liu Quan was unwilling to give up.
Why is it that with the same education and the same age, Liu Quan thinks she is much prettier than Teng's mother, but Teng's mother was able to marry into a wealthy family?
"...You were still little back then, so I didn't bother to talk about it. Every time she came to see you, she chose to come when Old Teng was around, and she was dressed so flamboyantly." Mother Teng laughed, then turned with a hint of melancholy, "Liu Quan has always been like this, always trying to compare herself to others in everything, competing with them privately. I thought we would just drift apart gradually. Friends come and go, so one more or one less won't make a difference. But she..."
"But she was ruthless." Qin Qinsen put down his bowl and chopsticks with a serious expression.
"Well, otherwise I wouldn't go to see her."
Since Teng Su was born, Liu Quan's greed and jealousy could no longer be concealed, and Teng's mother gradually distanced herself from her. However, she heard from somewhere that Teng's mother was pregnant with twins, and immediately came to visit her with her belongings.
"It must have been that time. I don't know what she did to make Anxi suffer for so long."
Thinking that Liu Quan's actions had weakened Anxi's health and prevented her from socializing, Teng's mother couldn't help but blame herself. So, when her college classmates suddenly suggested a reunion some time ago, she happily attended, and sure enough, she saw Liu Quan there. But before she could approach and start a conversation, Liu Quan made an excuse to leave, and she hasn't been able to contact her since.
"Mom, I'm fine now." Anxi sat next to Teng's mother, holding her hand, and snuggled up to her mother obediently.
"Don't be sad, Auntie. People's hearts are unpredictable. We can't always be on guard against thieves." Qin Qinsen advised, "Besides, thieves should be prepared for retribution at any time."
"That's right. I've already dealt with Liu Quan, so there won't be any problems in the future. I've also found the person she traded with and have handed him over to the police."
It’s Teng Su.
Qin Qinsen turned his head to look at the person who came, his expression unchanged, as if nothing had happened in the hour he just disappeared. "Hand it over to the police?"
Do the police care about people cursing others?
"That guy not only casts curses on people and takes huge sums of money to do dirty things, he also robs tombs." It was Teng's father who spoke with a look of disdain. "I knew there was something fishy about Liu Quan, and that something bad would happen sooner or later. Fortunately, you and Xiao An are fine now, otherwise I..."
"Right, right, right. Old Teng in our family is the most foresighted. You must be hungry. Come and eat." Mother Teng swept away her sadness and pushed her husband and son to sit at the dining table. "Eat quickly. We can talk about other things after we finish eating."
Qin Qinsen had only a vague memory of his mother, remembering only that she was in poor health and had passed away early. Having grown up with his father, an old bachelor, this was his first time seeing a harmonious couple get along, and he was stunned for a moment.
Teng An misunderstood his expression and said with a smile, "They're just like that, very clingy. You get used to it after seeing them enough. If you have a toothache, stop looking at them and eat some fruit."
"Eat, eat, eat. All you do is eat." Anxi rolled his eyes, obviously speechless at his twin brother's slowness.
"The meeting will be held at the Sisley Hotel in two days. Er Teng and Xiao An will return to the group for the time being. For the next period of time, Da Teng's work will be handled by the three of us."
"Dad!?" Teng An and An Xi were shocked and exclaimed at the same time.
Neither of them ever considered joining Teng's. Teng An knew he wasn't cut out for it, while Anxi wanted to strike out on his own, so he opened a studio. It's currently flourishing, and they're hoping to secure a contract with an international brand soon.
Furthermore, Teng Su's abilities were extraordinary. He frequently skipped grades in school and even graduated early from a prestigious international university. Since joining Teng Group, he had made rapid progress, a natural-born business prodigy. That's why Grandpa Teng and his father were relieved to retire and let Teng Su take over the management of the group.
"What's the rush?" Father Teng had already discarded his gentle mask and said in a deep voice, "We were inconsiderate and put all the burden on your eldest brother. His peers from the Guo, Ji, and Ma families are all out having fun. Big Teng doesn't even know which way the door to the Lanton's Bar opens."
"So you know?"
Hearing this, Teng's father hastily denied it. Teng's mother sat across from him, her face in her hands, a forced smile on her face.
"Your father means that Er Teng and Xiao An should take this opportunity to exercise more. As for Da Teng, he should take a good vacation to rest and adjust his condition. Xiao Sen is here too, so you can go out and have fun together and relax." After thinking for a moment, Teng's mother added with a smile, "Forget Landon, he's too noisy. Sanliang is good, you can use my card."
Father Teng was shocked: "How did you get a card worth three taels?!"
Mother Teng glanced at him and asked, "Why didn't you tell me that I could get a free meal if I mentioned your name?"
