Chapter 9: Even if you put it together, it's still a ghost
The wind was blowing hard, as if it knew the people inside were trying to go against it, and it was banging against the iron door to intimidate them. Mixed with crying and laughter, it made people's scalps numb.
Sister Nan tried to wrap the child in the blanket, but then felt it wasn't right, so she held the child in her arms again. She clutched the talisman Qin Qinsen had just given her, sometimes loosening it, sometimes tightening it. She was afraid that, like the previous talismans, it would get soaked by her sweat or become ineffective due to marks from her grip.
The bedroom was small, with the doors and windows tightly closed. Although the summer breeze was missing, it shouldn't have felt chilly. Sister Nan, whether out of fear, nervousness, or simply because it was too cold, trembled constantly, her arms tightening around the child.
Outside the door, the strange noises had not stopped and were even getting more intense.
bite.
Sister Nan quickly turned her head and looked in the direction of the sound. There was a small white spot on the window, as if it had been hit by a marble.
The next second, something outside the window noticed her gaze, and invisible raindrops poured down, making the glass crackle.
Sister Nan watched the glass shatter as the invisible thing outside the window stepped on the glass and broke in.
Picking up the child, Sister Nan crawled to the corner of the bedroom as quickly as possible and hid the child in the corner. Although her frail body was trembling, she still stood firmly in front. Her eyes were bloodshot, her face was pale, and the hand holding the talisman was raised forward steadily.
"Don't come over here, don't come over here, do you hear me?"
My son is still sleeping. This is the most sound sleep he has had in a week.
The invisible intruder stepped on the glass, stepped into the bedroom, and climbed onto the bed. Its steps left dents on the sheets, and its path led directly to the mother and son in the corner.
"roll!"
The moment she threw out the talisman, Sister Nan felt a little regretful - what if it missed?
The talisman drew a path in the air, as if locking onto its target, and spun towards the invader.
The next second, a faint smell of burning was smelled in the air, and a human figure could be vaguely seen twisting its body to avoid the talisman attack.
Sister Nan swallowed hard, but the saliva flowing down her throat did not relieve the dryness in her throat, but made her even more nervous.
"break!"
Qin Qinsen, who was supposed to be outside the bedroom, suddenly appeared. "He can also make a feint to the east and attack in the west. He is quite cultured."
There was still a commotion outside, like someone hammering at the wall. But if you listened carefully, you could tell it was just a repeating audio clip, looping endlessly.
Nan's heart finally settled. Without catching her breath, she saw Qin Qinsen charging forward with his fists raised, looking no different from a street brawler. The only difference was that the person being beaten wasn't a human being.
It was not until his fists hit the wild gods and evil spirits that Qin Qinsen felt the feeling of "slaying demons and eliminating evil" as the old Taoist priest said - a little excited and a little thrilled.
Especially when he walked out of the door alone just now, and opened the door only to meet Uncle Li with confused eyes. This feeling of fighting wits and courage with ghosts, no wonder the old Taoist priest's face was flushed every time he beat a ghost.
"That... Xiao Qin? Xiao Qin!" The scene before her was shocking. Seeing the evil ghost being beaten to pieces, Sister Nan could no longer bear it, "Xiao Qin, don't beat him to death, help me find out the reason!"
I promised to help her exorcise evil spirits and eradicate hidden dangers, so why did this young man get so carried away?
"Ah? Oh, yes. Hey, where are you from? What are you doing with Sister Nan? Tell me!"
Qin Qinsen shook his hands awkwardly, wiping away the non-existent sweat from his forehead. His eyes wandered a little, and he finally glared fiercely at the shapeless evil ghost, "What are you hesitating about? Tell me now."
The evil ghost, who had been kicked twice more, finally managed to pick up his tongue and trembled, "Child, child... a..."
After a long time of not being able to utter a word, Qin Qinsen was just about to hit him, so he took the opportunity to punch him twice more, "Hurry up, don't delay."
Finish it early and go to bed early, and don’t be late for work tomorrow, otherwise the evil ghost ancestor will cause trouble again.
"No one is taking care of the child, I'll take him away!" In order to save his life, the evil ghost quickly supported his chin and tongue and explained fluently.
What's the point of taking her away? Are you going to leave her to starve? Besides, her mother sends her child to daycare during the day, and our neighbor, Uncle Li, is a kindhearted man, always ready to lend a hand. Why would a demon be so involved?
Sister Nan was furious when she heard this. She had finally gotten rid of the scumbag and could live a peaceful life with her child. She had just moved into her new home and was already tormented and unable to sleep well, all because the evil spirit thought she hadn't taken good care of her child?
Just as he was about to speak, he heard Qin Qinsen sneer and pat the evil ghost on the forehead. "You put it nicely, but whose chin is this, and whose tongue is this? And this head, where did you 'borrow' it from? You said the child is unattended, what part of the child did you like? Tell me."
As soon as he finished speaking, the evil ghost's leg scattered by the window aimed at Qin Qinsen's lower back and rushed towards him.
"Heavenly thunder rushes to earthly fire, destroying the evil in the world, command."
Sharp cries filled the room. Sister Nan covered the child's ears tightly. When she came to her senses, Qin Qinsen was cleaning up the glass shards on the ground.
“How, how…”
"Oh, it's okay. Let's find someone to replace the glass with a new one tomorrow. The quality of this one is not very good." As he said that, he wrapped the broken glass with tattered curtain cloth and walked out.
"Why is that thing following us? What should we pay attention to in the future?" Sister Nan asked hurriedly.
Qin Qinsen tilted his head and thought, "That evil ghost just now was not a good thing when he was alive. He was obsessed with it and wanted to harm others. Even after death, he didn't let others have an easy life and liked to devour other souls. I didn't even use any force, and he broke into pieces. What a sin."
He shook his head and sighed, then freed one hand to gently stroke the back of the child's head, "It's all sweat, wipe it off quickly to prevent you from catching a cold."
His fingers hooked the thin string around the other person's neck, "Who gave this to you?"
The pendant is not big and is in the shape of a toy man.
"His grandmother bought it for me before I divorced her. She said the child was making a fuss and wouldn't leave without it."
Qin Qinsen raised his eyebrows and took off the pendant. "It's pieced together. Does it look familiar?"
How could it not look familiar? The pendant looks like a Transformer at first glance, but upon closer inspection, one discovers that the limbs, head, and body of the golden-red pendant all have different patterns, and some of the joints are even misaligned, making them very scratchy to the touch.
Nan's heart tightened. She knew her ex-mother-in-law didn't like her, but was she really going to do such a cruel thing to her own grandson?!
"I'll take it away. Sister Nan, you should also get some rest early. You will be fine in the future."
He helped Sister Nan up, stuffed two calming talismans into the child's pajamas pocket, lit the talisman to dispel evil spirits, and walked around the house.
"Come back to your senses."
The cool touch on her forehead pulled Sister Nan out of her anger. The young man in front of her picked up the bag of glass shards again, nodded to her, and left with a message saying he would contact her if needed.
Looking at the direction the young man left, Sister Nan's tears that had accumulated for many days burst out, and the tense string in her mind finally relaxed and no longer sounded the alarm.
"Mom, don't cry."
A child's tender voice was heard, and the child who had been in deep sleep climbed up and flapped his short legs on the bed to get down from the bed to find his mother.
Listening to the movement inside, Qin Qinsen gently closed the door and said, "Let's go, uncle, stop looking. You really need to go back to sleep. What time is it? Let's go."
Uncle Li was worried, "Is everything really okay?"
"It's really nothing. Go back quickly and don't let the ghost deceive you again." Pushing the man towards the opposite door, Qin Qinsen said again, "Give me the hammer. You don't have any other hammers, right? Is this really the only one? Take out the wrenches, vises, etc., and I'll go back with you to get them."
