Chapter 4 Rebirth (4)
She carried Ruan Jiaojiao to the kitchen, coaxed her to sit on a small stool, and went back to work.
Nowadays, it is popular to have two pots, one large and one small, on the stove in the countryside. In the big pot, Ruan Lin was frying a plate of vegetables, and in the small pot, a pot of sweet potatoes with a few grains of rice was cooking. This was the family's meal for the day. On the top was a porcelain bowl, which contained fine white rice cooked in minced meat soup. It was specially for Ruan Jiaojiao.
The Ruan family had not yet become rich, so except for Ruan Jiaojiao who ate fine food, everyone else in the Ruan family could only eat until they were full. But even so, this was considered a wealthy family in the whole village.
In her previous life, Ruan Jiaojiao was a stray cat. Because she had gained intelligence, she often didn't pick up garbage to eat, which resulted in her often being full for one meal and hungry for the next.
Now, when she saw this bowl of meat soup rice, her big eyes became sparkling, staring at it without blinking, and swallowing unconsciously.
Ruan Lin served the vegetables, and seeing Ruan Jiaojiao's greedy look, she laughed out loud: "Jiaojiao, are you hungry?"
Ruan Jiaojiao nodded a little embarrassedly.
Ruan Lin was amused by her cute look, and walked up to her and kissed her, then reached out to take the meat soup rice in the pot.
She was thick-skinned and not afraid of getting burned by holding the bowl directly with her hands, but she was afraid that her little sister would get burned, so she called out "Lei Zi" and saw a fat boy of eight or nine years old running in.
"Feed your sister, don't burn her, okay?" Ruan Lin said as she walked into the yard with the bowl in her hand.
"Grandma, I know." The fat boy followed behind and answered obediently. He was the youngest son of Ruan Lin's third son, only eight years old this year, and he liked this younger and more tender little sister the most.
"Don't eat secretly." Ruan Lin never concealed her partiality, and was afraid that the fat boy would be greedy, so she put the bowl on the bench and warned him again seriously.
The little fat boy swallowed his saliva at the smell of meat, and nodded obediently. He knew that his sister was not in good health and needed delicious food to supplement her. Although he wanted to eat, he would never steal his sister's food.
After repeated warnings, Ruan Lin touched Ruan Jiaojiao's little head, looked back every few steps, and walked towards the kitchen reluctantly.
When the little fat boy saw that his grandmother was not there, he relaxed. He smiled at Ruan Jiaojiao in a flattering way, then picked up the spoon and scooped a spoonful of meat soup rice. The minced meat mixed with white rice was extremely fragrant. He wanted to blow it for his sister, but when he blew it, the fragrance went straight into his mouth. He was so greedy that he almost stuffed the whole spoon into his mouth. Fortunately, he still had the last bit of rationality and sent the spoon to Ruan Jiaojiao's little mouth.
"Sister, eat it. Brother has blown it. It's not hot anymore."
Ruan Jiaojiao looked at the little fat man in front of her, then at the spoon, wondering if there was his saliva in it, but she couldn't resist the greed in her stomach, so she sucked it up and swallowed it in a few sips.
The little fat man was also fast. After Ruan Jiaojiao finished the first bite, he passed the next spoonful up.
Ruan Jiaojiao hadn't had such a comfortable meal for a long time. She ate very happily. Soon, only half of the bowl of soup and rice was gone, and she was full, with a round belly. She looked at the little fat man in front of her who was swallowing his saliva and was very greedy. Just when she was about to give him the rest out of mercy, she heard a loud noise coming from outside.
Before he could react, two figures, one big and one small, rushed in like a whirlwind, accompanied by a woman's sharp curse: "You damned little bastard, you dare to hide, I think you want to die, get out of here!"
