Are you hungry?
Tianyun shook her head weakly, her thick, curled eyelashes trembling like butterfly wings, as if a beautiful flower had been battered by a storm and turned pale, losing its vitality.
Xiao Ziwu's eyes softened with affection as he stroked her frosty lips. "Then have some warm water to soothe your throat."
Warm water was always kept on the stool by the bed, and Xiao Ziwu never dared to close his eyes. Yang Yong came over to persuade him several times, but he could not get him to go to the side hall to rest for a while.
He only left the bed for a brief moment while the female assassin was being subjected to the excruciating torture of slow slicing, personally overseeing the execution. The female assassin died from the excruciating pain after the fourth and eighth cuts!
The usually indifferent young general still refused to let her go. Even though the female assassin was already dead, he still ordered her to endure a thousand cuts, not a single one less.
The female assassin's origins have also been investigated. She was a spy specially planted in the city lord's mansion by the Western Huan army. Her family members had all died long ago, otherwise she probably would not have escaped the death by a thousand cuts of this god of death!
Yang Yong felt a pang of pain in his teeth; he finally understood.
This Miss Tianyun is the young general's lifeblood!
Her incident even dragged Qin Xiao into the fray. For the past two days, he'd been bound hand and foot and brought to the camp for questioning: "Did you collude with the Western Huan and participate in this assassination attempt?"
Although he was not subjected to any severe torture, it was still not a pleasant experience. Not only did he lose face as the lord of a city, but he also had to endure Xiao Ziwu's cold stares, which was truly unbearable!
He shouldn't have agreed to Fei'er's request to hold this ridiculous celebration party. He ended up getting himself into trouble after his attempt to cheat on her failed!
He fed her a few sips of warm water, then turned her head away to indicate she didn't want any more. Xiao Ziwu wiped the water from her lips with his fingertips and said hoarsely, "How could you be so foolish? Such a small body, yet you dared to take a knife for me."
In just two days, this beautiful flower seemed to have been deprived of all its nutrients, becoming fragile and pitiful.
Xiao Ziwu hated himself for losing his guard and letting the little woman fall into danger again. During the two days that Tianyun was unconscious, he was immersed in endless regret and blamed himself every moment.
He could react quickly and nimbly dodge the female assassin's fall, but he was caught off guard by her sudden attack!
That's absolutely despicable.
The woman on the couch had tears welling in her dark eyes. She thought with a bittersweet smile that she had indeed been through a lot these days, always encountering deadly attacks.
Before she could react, her body stepped in front of him to shield him; it turned out that her love for him had already become so intense that she could not live without him.
"I didn't think that much..." The woman's weak and feeble voice sounded like the cry of a kitten.
Xiao Ziwu's heart melted instantly, and a wave of indescribable soreness washed over him. He suddenly realized that all the hardships he had endured in the long and boundless first ten years of his life were paving the way for meeting her at this moment.
When God bestows precious gifts, He always creates some hardship first to balance things out.
Thinking about it this way, the pain doesn't seem so unbearable anymore...
His Highness's eyes were bloodshot, a loss of composure that Tianyun had never seen before. She bit her lip slightly, looking somewhat helpless.
The atmosphere became heavy for a moment.
Xiao Ziwu touched her pale, trembling lips as if they were fragile objects.
"Don't be impulsive next time, I will protect you."
Tianyun blinked at him obediently, but unable to resist the overwhelming sleepiness, she closed her eyes again.

When he woke up, Xiao Ziwu had already led his army westward, seizing the initiative to attack and preparing to recover the three continents occupied by the Western Huan in one fell swoop.
He left that squad of armored soldiers with Tianyun once again.
The female assassin's stab wasn't deep, but it was enough to keep Tianyun recovering for ten days or so. He really couldn't go with him right away.
During his time recuperating, Shi Que often saw the girl alone, gazing into the distance, lost in thought.
Outside the window is a green field and green mountains.
As Tianyun gazed into the distance, his pupils began to dilate, recalling that dream that felt both real and unreal.
The strange yet familiar man in her dream seemed to appear by her bedside every single day, telling her about the interesting things that happened that day, and they would talk for an entire afternoon.
It was supposed to be true, but when she woke up, she was back in Daliang, and the man... she didn't recognize him at all.
It could be described as an illusion, yet she could clearly feel the shivers that came from the man's cool, thin lips touching her skin.
Tianyun was also confused...
She cannot be a fickle woman; the only one she loves is His Highness!
Tianyun shook her head, forcing herself to pull her thoughts back, no longer focusing on that strange man, nor wanting to recall his affectionate and doting words.
The sun shone brightly, the azure sky was cloudless, and a gentle breeze billowed her sleeves, creating beautiful arcs. Her smooth, dark hair was also blown about, with a few playful strands landing on her fingertips, causing a tingling, itchy sensation that made her curl her fingers involuntarily.
"How many days has Your Highness been gone?" Tianyun stood up from the steps of the beauty. On the rosewood round table was a large stack of visiting cards, mostly handed in by the two sisters, Qin Feifei and Qin Xiangxiang.
He went to great lengths to apologize to her.
Two branches of century-old ginseng were sent, and various tonics were delivered in a continuous stream. Tianyun knew in his heart that the assassination had nothing to do with them, but the fact remained that Lord Qin Xiao had allowed the dancers to seduce His Highness.
She felt a bit resentful and uncomfortable.
So for the next few days, the two sisters were left out of the cold. The century-old ginseng was also returned as is, since His Highness had kept quite a few of these tonics, and Tianyun didn't take them seriously.
The Qin sisters knew she was angry, so they became even more attentive, sending three or four visiting cards a day, each one in their own name.
