Despite shouting that they were scared, they resolutely walked into the depths of the treacherous forest.
All for the sake of a one in ten thousand idea—that Xiao Ziwu is not dead!
Looking at the disheveled woman before him, his heart felt as if it were being soaked in vinegar, a mixture of bitterness and tenderness.
One of her pearl-embroidered shoes was missing, and her delicate, slightly pink ankles were scratched by rough pebbles, leaving bloody marks. There were also withered leaves stuck in her hair. She looked pitiful yet adorable. When she looked up and saw him standing safely in front of her, the girl's wet, red eyes finally stopped trying to hold back, and tears kept falling. Her dusty face instantly turned into a mess like a kitten.
Xiao Ziwu felt a lump in his throat, and quickly stepped forward to pull her tightly into his arms.
"I knew you wouldn't die!"
Tianyun covered her face and buried her face in his arms, crying bitterly. All the helplessness and fear in her body were released the moment she saw him, leaving her nowhere to hide!
The man's deep, cold black eyes seemed to be brewing a fierce tide, with some surging emotion about to burst forth.
"I'm not dead! I haven't even married my darling yet, how could I be dead?"
Xiao Ziwu reached out and gently stroked her beautiful butterfly bones, soothing the young woman's emotions.
Hearing her gradually stop crying, he picked her up like a child, wrapping her slender legs around his waist. Their bodies were pressed tightly together, and Tianyun's icy body temperature was quickly warming up. Her smooth, jade-like feet no longer had to touch the cold ground.
I was carried towards the cave like that.
Xiao Ziwu was still in a daze.
It's hard to imagine how she, a frail woman, managed to find her way here.
With just a fleeting thought, he dared to venture alone to the bottom of this cliff!
If she were to fall to the ground and be reduced to ashes, or even be reduced to nothingness, how could she possibly survive in this abyss?
Thinking this, Xiao Ziwu felt his heart being squeezed inch by inch, and an indescribable pain spread throughout his body. The hand that was wrapped around the little woman's abdomen tightened even more because of this terrible thought.
Tianyun didn't feel suffocated at all; at this moment, she only wished she could become one with him! She nestled against his shoulder and neck in a dependent manner, her body trembling slightly, and she sobbed occasionally.
Xiao Ziwu had never felt such a surge of emotions swirling in his heart until he saw her appear before him like a dream. Only then did he realize that there really were people in this world who could make him fear death.
He was incredibly grateful that he hadn't died completely after falling off the cliff. Otherwise, this silly little woman would probably have perished with him.
Because of her existence in this world, Xiao Ziwu no longer felt that living was dispensable.
Xiao Ziwu lifted her onto his lap and placed her near the blazing fire to keep her warm.
Their eyes met, and a warm, tender feeling enveloped them.
Tianyun wrapped her arms around his neck, her eyes misty as she carefully examined the face before her. "Vice General Yang said you were hit by a stray arrow. Let me see where the wound is."
Several times she was almost too tired to walk, but she didn't throw away the heavy bundle on her back.
With trembling hands, she untied the bundle, which was full of red and green medicine bottles, containing all sorts of wound medicines.
Her soft palms were rubbed raw and bleeding from the rough rope. Xiao Ziwu's eyes sharpened as he took her hands and examined them carefully, but his voice was unusually gentle.
"How did you do that?"
Tianyun withdrew his hand and put it behind his back, urging anxiously, "It's alright, let me see your injury first!"
Xiao Ziwu frowned, but when he looked into her worried, watery eyes, he sighed helplessly, ultimately unable to persuade her otherwise.
"I'm unharmed." He pressed his forehead against hers and said gently, "My darling is my little lucky star. The arrow hit the purse you gave me, but the glass inside blocked all the damage. Luckily, when I fell off the cliff, a bush lay across my face and cushioned my fall, which is why I wasn't smashed to pieces."
In truth, he was able to save his life thanks to his darling; if it weren't for a stroke of luck, he probably would have lost his life here.
Tianyun felt a wave of fear wash over her, but then she was overjoyed and wept with joy. She never expected such a strange thing to happen!
Rupert's Tear is impervious to bullets, yet it unexpectedly saved the prince's life at a crucial moment; she was overjoyed.
It blocked the fatal blow, but was accidentally lost by Xiao Ziwu when it fell off the cliff.
Xiao Ziwu sighed softly, "May I see your hands now?"
Tianyun then extended his palm in front of him. The fair and tender skin was already delicate, and even the slightest scratch would be incredibly horrifying. Moreover, right now, the skin was torn and bleeding from the ropes, with not a single piece of good flesh left.
His heart broke at the sight, and he held those porcelain-like hands lightly, not daring to exert any force.
"Which bottle contains medicine for treating external injuries?"
"This bottle."
Tianyun pointed to a small green jar in the corner of the bundle.
Xiao Ziwu tore off his inner garment, wet it with freshly boiled spring water, and carefully wiped the dirty and messy outer garment clean before applying the medicine. He then tore off a piece of cloth and carefully wrapped the wound.
"Cold..." Tianyun's jaw chattered.
Xiao Ziwu washed her face again, gently pulled her close, and kissed her slightly pale lips, his breath warming her body.
"Want to take a nap, hmm?"
Tianyun's eyelids were heavy, but he dared not fall asleep.
She leaned lazily against the man's arm and shook her head, her voice hoarse from overuse.
"I'm afraid that if I fall asleep and wake up, I'll find that it was all just a dream..."
Xiao Ziwu's eyes were full of helplessness. He had no way to deal with her and couldn't bear to force her to do anything, so he started talking to her in a rambling manner.
He gently patted her back with one hand, coaxing her to sleep.
The familiar fragrance of snow plum blossoms enveloped her, making her feel incredibly safe and comfortable. Tianyun fought off her sleepiness and started a conversation.
